‘However… isn’t it Miss Cummins’s birthday today? Young Master Reed made a point of ordering the birthday menu for the evening.

Even so, looking at the way Miss Cummins spoke now, she did not seem to be lying. The butler was in doubt for a moment.

On the other hand, Grace said nothing but continued to drag her suitcases out of Reed Residence step by step.

Behind her, the butler hastily called Terrence, Jason’s private secretary, to report the situation and ask whether he should get her back.

Terrence, who received the phone call, was completely shocked. He looked at his boss who was beside him, unable to stop the shock in his heart.

‘They broke up?

‘Young Master Reed broke up with

Grace?’

Anyone who was not blind could see how much Young Master Reed cared about

Grace. He had never seen Young Master

Reed so abased and so protective over a woman.

‘However… what happened today? When

Young Master Reed left Reed Residence and drove directly here…

‘This place is…’ Terrence looked at the corner. If Grace was here, she would recognize this was where she first met

Jason.

It was also… where Jason’s father froze to death!

He would come here every year on his father’s death anniversary.

However, Terrence knew that today was not Young Master Reed’s father’s death anniversary and that it was one of the first times in his many years of following

Young Master Reed that he uncannily came here on a normal day.

‘Could it have something to do with

Grace?’

Terrence asked, “Young Master Reed,

Miss Cummins is now dragging two suitcases, saying… she has broken up with you and is leaving Reed Residence.

Are you going to let her go?”

Jason’s body gave a sudden jolt as his eyelashes quivered a little. His drooping eyes were still staring at the concrete floor where his father had closed his eyes forever.

‘I mustn’t end up like my father! I mustn’t!’

“Let her go,” Jason’s thin lips spat these three words out coldly.

Terrence was stunned and hesitant for a few seconds before responding, “Alright!”

Grace walked out of Reed Residence with two luggages and found that she did not know where to go in the huge Emerald City.

Nowhere was her home, and that nowhere held her place.

She thought she finally had a home, but she did not after all!

Therefore, Grace dragged her suitcases to the nearest bus stop near Reed

Residence. She just sat on the bench at the bus stop until her phone rang.

She was stunned for a while before taking out her phone. The caller ID

showed that it was Lina. ·

‘Lina… Grace only found her nose starting to feel faintly sore again.

When she pressed the answer button, her best friend’s familiar voice sounded from within. “Grace, are you at Reed

Residence now? Hadwin Stephenson and

I are coming over now.”

Grace suddenly remembered. ‘Oh right. Today’s my birthday and I’ve invited

Lina and Hadwin Stephenson over to celebrate.

‘However… there’s no need for it now!

“You don’t need to come over. I… broke up with Jason. There won’t be any birthday celebrations today,” said Grace.

Now, it was as if even saying one word would leave a strong bitterness in her mouth.

Lina Sweeney was immediately stunned.

“Broke up? You and Jason broke up? What’s going on here? No, where are you now?”

Lina Sweeney was anxious. It was too sudden.

Besides, Grace’s voice… sounded calm on the phone!

However, this only made Lina Sweeney even more nervous! She knew her best friend’s character, and it would be better if Grace was crying right now.

This calmness now only meant that

Grace was holding back all the pain.

Just like when she was in prison, Grace kept the pain deep in her heart and never complained or vented it out to her about it.

It also dimmed the shine in Grace’s eyes.

Grace was finally starting to recover back to how she used to be little by little.

Lina Sweeney did not want her best friend to go back as she was when she just got out of prison!

“Grace, where are you now? Tell me!”

Lina Sweeney said hurriedly.

However, there was silence on the other end of the line.

“If you don’t tell me, I’ll ask Hadwin Stephenson to help me check all the traffic surveillance in the city. I’ll even call the police and have them look for you all over the city. Besides that, I’ll publish it in the newspapers…” Lina Sweeney said non-stop. She needed to get her best friend’s whereabouts no matter what.

She finally let out a long sigh of relief when she finally heard her best friend’s voice from the phone.

“Alright, wait for me. Don’t walk away!” With that, Lina Sweeney put away her phone and anxiously turned on the navigation system on her phone. Then, she pointed to the destination on the phone’s map and said to Hadwin Stephenson who was in the driver’s seat, “Quick. Hurry and drive here. Grace is there!”.

Hadwin Stephenson immediately started the car and drove in the direction indicated by the navigation system.

“Grace broke up with Jason?” he asked.

After all, he had overheard part of the conversation.

“Yeah.” Lina Sweeney tensed and said worriedly, “I don’t know what happened exactly, and it’s hard to say over the phone. I can only ask Grace when we see her later. Nothing… must happen to Grace!”

‘I thought my best friend’s misery was over, but what’s this? Does God feel that Grace hasn’t suffered enough, so he has to do it again?’

Lina Sweeney felt as if her chest was under heavy pressure. She was so scared!

On the other hand, Grace called Kyla Corbyn on the phone. “Kyla, something happened at the birthday party today. Don’t… bring Nelson over. I’ll come and see you some other day.”

Kyla Corbyn was startled. She could tell something was wrong from Grace’s voice. “What’s wrong? Did something happen?”

“Yes. I’ll tell you about it some other day.”

Grace tried hard to make herself sound natural. “Please tell Nelson I’m sorry that I can’t treat him to cake today. I’ll buy him a cake some other day.”

“If you’re facing any difficulties, come to me. I may not be able to help you much, but it’s good to have one more person for advice,” said Kyla Corbyn.
