“Women with too much bite aren’t any good; soft girls are the ones we like.”

“But…”

Kendrick suddenly leaned in and whispered something filthy in her ear.

The words made Lily’s stomach turn; she trembled all over from sheer revulsion.

He unbuttoned the top of her blouse. There was no way she’d let him undress her.

She summoned every last bit of strength, lifted her head, and was about to slam it into his face-when the private room door burst open, and John’s voice came in, cold enough to freeze the blood in their veins.

“What the heck do you think you’re doing?”

“John…”

Kendrick flinched violently.

He’d called John earlier that night, invited him out for drinks.

Elsa had answered the call.

She said John was in the shower.

When a man and woman are showering together, what comes next was obvious-passion, heat, and tangled limbs.

He’d figured, with John’s stamina, they’d be going at it until well past midnight.

Who would’ve thought-less than thirty minutes after that call, John would appear at the door.

Patrick and Calvin froze as well, fear washing over them.

But then they remembered-John was with Elsa now. He didn’t care about Lily anymore. Slowly, they regained a bit of confidence.

They exchanged glances and spoke hesitantly. “We’ve wanted Lily for a long time. John, you’ve got your girl now. You must be tired of Lily by now. Can we sleep with her?”

“What did you just say? Say it again.”

John’s fists clenched so tight, his knuckles cracked.

The murderous aura radiating from him filled the room; his eyes blazed red, like a blood-soaked abyss threatening to consume everything.

-Kendrick and the others felt the danger instantly.

But they still believed-given how much John doted on Elsa-there was no way he’d care this much about Lily. They kept pushing.

“You’re done with Lily anyway. Might as well us have some fun.”

“John, I swear I’ve never wanted a woman as badly as her. Even with all her clothes on, she’s turning me on.”

“If she was naked, I could go at least eight rounds in one night. We even dreamed about going at it with her last night. Come on, John Just let us have her.”

“Die.”

John’s possessiveness over Lily ran deep; nothing enraged him more than other men coveting her.

The thought that Patrick dared even dream of touching her-he completely lost control.

He grabbed Patrick by the collar and slammed a punch into his face so hard, his head snapped sideways.

“John, what the heck-“

Patrick was stunned senseless.

He’d always thought he and John were on good terms. He never imagined John would beat him to a pulp over a woman everyone said wasn’t even worth mentioning.

“Stay the hell away from Lily! She’s mine. You so much as think about her again, I swear I’ll kill you!”

With a surge of strength, he flung Patrick to the ground like a rag doll.

Kendrick and Calvin stared at each other, dumbfounded.

Neither of them had expected John-who’d always acted so cold toward Lily-to actually step in for her tonight.

Kendrick’s hand was still resting on Lily’s collar.

Afraid John might turn on him too, Kendrick shuddered hard and quickly pulled his hand back.

But John had already noticed exactly where that hand had gone. Now it was too late to take it back.

“John…”

Kendrick’s heart raced with panic as John’s bloodshot gaze locked on his hand, unblinking.

He was just about to play the sympathy card when John raised his leg and viciously kicked Kendrick’s right hand without hesitation.

The pain twisted Kendrick’s face instantly; before he could even begin to recover, John’s iron fists- radiating lethal fury-pounded into his face, blow after brutal blow.

“How dare you touch her? Kendrick, you really deserve to die!”

Just picturing Kendrick’s fingertips brushing against the skin near Lily’s collarbone made John want to tear him apart piece by piece.

“John, I swear, I didn’t mean it. I thought you didn’t want Lily anymore…”

Kendrick wasn’t weak in a fight, but compared to John, he didn’t stand a chance.

He couldn’t even fight back-just curled into himself, gripping his head to brace against the pain.

After a couple more punishing blows, John finally kicked him aside, his face still like ice. He turned sharply, his piercing gaze now locking onto Calvin.

“John, I know I was wrong! I swear I’ll never think about Lily that way again, I-“

John’s foot landed squarely in Calvin’s most vulnerable spot. The moment he remembered Calvin saying he could go at least eight rounds in one night if Lily wasn’t wearing anything, John wanted to cripple him on the spot.

Calvin’s legs shook violently. He clutched himself, too stunned and in too much pain to form words.

It hurt so bad. He truly thought he might be ruined forever.

Before he could recover, John landed another savage kick. “Get out!”

“Lily is my girlfriend, my future wife. Anyone who dares touch my wife is my enemy.”

Wife… Calvin and the others shuddered again.

They’d always assumed John treasured Elsa the most-that she was the one he truly wanted to marry.

It had never occurred to them that Lily was the woman he most wanted to spend his life with. Regret hit them hard; they knew they’d crossed a line. The moment John told them to get out, they took it like a pardon from death-scrambling, crawling, fleeing the room like rats.

Now free, Lily finally managed-after several tries-to grab a bottle from the nearby table.

Ever since she was little, she hated being wronged, hated being pushed around. If she got the chance, she always fought back.

Kendrick, who’d dragged her into the room, was the slowest to flee.

Lily took a deep breath, staggered forward, and with every ounce of strength she had left, brought the bottle crashing down on his head.

“Lily!”

The blow landed hard-blood seeped from Kendrick’s scalp instantly.

Furious at the humiliation, Kendrick’s rage nearly exploded. But his company still depended on Jones Corp’s support.

And tonight, it was clear-John was protecting Lily. No matter how much he hated her in that moment, he didn’t dare retaliate.

All he could do was clutch his head and stumble out of the room.

“Lily…”

Yes, tonight, John had saved me. But Lily had saved him more than once before. In her eyes, they were even now-she had no intention of staying tangled up in this mess any longer.

She grabbed her phone from the table and turned to leave-only for John to suddenly pull her into a crushing embrace.

“Let go!”

Lily despised the kind of messy, half-hearted entanglements that dragged on after a breakup. She pushed against him with everything she had.

But she wasn’t his match in strength; not tonight-not after drinking so much she could barely stay upright.
