Wil nodded to him. “So let’s begin with Marilyn Riddley herself,” he stated, and turned to look at the screen as a picture of her in the hospital bed with all the tubes coming from her, and the full scale of her injuries sustained from her car accident appeared.
There were many gasps going around the room and Wil sighed even as he looked at it. It wasn’t a nice photo, but it was what was needed to explain everything in the end and the only photo Marilyn would an was also a time and date stamp on the image.
He directed a laser pointed at the time and date. “As you can see, a terrible accident happened to Marsin This occurred at the same time as the plane crash in Italy was reported here in the U.S.” he told them, the screen changed and there was a picture of Calvin at the airport in Italy, all dressed up and waiting for Marrin to arrive.
He clicked the button again and the two photos lined up side by side on the screen.
His eyes moved towards the crowd of reporters. “What you don’t know is that, ever though Calvin and Marrin had gotten a divorce, Calvin regretted it right away, and flew to Italy to propose and bring Marrin back to his side.
“They didn’t hate each other, just wanted different things in their lives, and Calvin, as you’re aware, is well Stubborn, as a mule, didn’t like that his wife wanted to change her career, and move away from his side to do her own thing. She was, as you all know, a valuable asset to his company. This is the reason for the divorce, because he saw it as her wanting to leave him and no longer be by his side, when that wasn’t actually the case.” Wil shook his head “Calvin realised his mistake moments after they said goodbye at the airport. It was only a small lie, and both Marilyn and Calvin had agreed to him stating this.
Another picture appeared on the screen, and he looked at Liam, who hit the play button, “This is the day she left and got on the plane.” The entire press got to see them talk, but not hear the words, but see how Clavin yanked her back and kissed her with all he had, see her cry as she yanked herself from him and left.
“They still loved each other, but…” Wil sighed. “Things happen to tear people apart. Sometimes love just isn’t enough when there is conflicting emotions. Marrin had at this point already changed her name legally to
Marilyn Riddley to start her life as an author that was in no way attached to Calvin. But because of the divorce, she never actually told Calvin or myself. She just wanted a fresh start where no one knew her, or could say Calvin was backing her new career.”
A picture of the car crash Marilyn had been in appeared on the screen, and he played the recording for the press, of her final call to Calvin, and they all got to hear her state his name and then the screaming and car accident. And the crowd hushed as they sat there.
“As you can see, Marilyn was trying to call Calvin and tell him she was alive and not on that plane. She didn’t want him to believe she was dead. Still loved him and didn’t want him to suffer the guilt of knowing he’d put her on the plane.”
The screen moved on as between him and Liam they told the crowd that had now fallen completely silent at all they were learning as the pictures of Marrin, broken and alone in the hospital. All her injuries were laid out for them to hear and understand. Liam stood and explained about the amnesia and the reports were shown, and he stated, “This is why no one could find Marrin Reeves. She simply no longer existed. Marrin woke up as Marilyn in that hospital with no past to recall.” He turned and looked at Wil.
Wil nodded, and he clicked the button, and a picture of the twins appeared on the screen, and many more hushed words rippled through the crowd. It was followed by a picture of Marilyn and then Calvin being added to either side of the boys, “They have twin sons, which only came to light; that they were Calvin’s, after the altercation six months ago when these two came across each other once more.” Liam informed the crowd, telling them that this was when Marilyn had started to figure things out in her own mind and in turn this helped her to get her memories back, and realised she was Marrin, Calvin’s ex-wife.
They had two children, twins. A DNA test was done, something both parties agreed to do. That DNA test not only proved the boys were Calvin’s, but officially proved that Marilyn Riddley was, in fact, Marrin Reeves, Calvin’s missing ex-wife.
That the two of them were now trying to work through all that had happened in not only their past from eight years ago, but six months ago as well. That Marilyn has now managed to recover all of her lost memories and can understand why Calvin was the way he was.
That he knew she was Marrin, but she had no idea and, unfortunately, he lost his composure and control in his efforts to get her to admit who she was because he was desperate to find the woman he still loved. Only she couldn’t tell him what he wanted, because she didn’t know who she was. But now that she knows, she can understand him.
Wil had stood at this point and Liam had sat back down. “Both Marilyn and Calvin have asked that you leave them alone, so they can try to work things out. They would greatly appreciate it if all the press was removed from Cliffside Manor and you give them some breathing room. Calvin is trying to get to know the twins. They are at the house.
“Marilyn herself brought them to the Cliffside house, without telling Calvin at all. When she remembered who she was, she simply returned home, and they need their privacy.” He stated, that was 90% the truth. He stared out at them all. “So to finally answer your question. Yes, Marilyn Riddley, is, or was Marrin Reeves,” he announced officially.
“We’ll take questions now,” he stated. “Liam will answer anything to with Marilyn herself, and please do call her Marilyn. She legally changed her name after the divorce. I will answer the questions you have regarding
Calvin.”
There were many questions directed at both of them, and they answered them one at a time. The most pressing was, as Calvin expected, “Were they getting back together?”
“I honestly don’t know.” He stated, “They have, as you can see, lived very different lives for the past eight years. I do, however, believe that is what Calvin wants.”
“Marilyn is trying to sort through her new-found memories and emotions,” Liam had stated as a follow-up to his answer. “She is allowing Calvin to spend time with the boys, and, yes, she is currently staying at her old home. Has conflicting emotions, and they clearly need to talk about many things.”
