Filed To Story: The Alpha's Betrayal and Promise Novel
(Scarlett)
I held on Anastasia as if my life depended on it, fearing that anyone could be following us until Alexander arrived. The period that I had in my c*hest was one that I could not describe. However, I was sure to keep myself contained and control. Knowing that we were in public and knowing that the others would watching. Any sign of fear could actually lead to cops asking questions, and that was not something that I wanted to risk.
My heart raced against my ribcage as I searched the area for anything out of the ordinary, but I could see nothing, and that wasn’t assuring to me. Especially after what I just saw Alexander do earlier. Anyone could be following us. That was something that I knew for a fact. The alpha wouldn’t actually sent us one person. If anything, I knew the others were there, I just didn’t know where they were. And that was something that I couldn’t actually cope with, especially considering the fact that their senses were masked by the number of people who are around. It was something that scared me, and holding my daughter to my c*hest, I k*issed her forehead as I tried to calm myself down, closing my eyes as I took deep breaths. Accounting as I tried to calm myself down using the method as I tried to contain the anger and the fear that I was feeling.
I wasn’t stupid, I knew that it was only a matter of time before everything was found, but I hoped that we would be out of here before that happened. If anything, I knew that going to Russia was something that was going to be good for us, though I didn’t understand why Alexander didn’t really like it. I knew that it was going to be a chance for us to actually flee, at least for now, to grow stronger. Maybe we could find allies there. That was going to be something that we both needed. In my opinion. It was a good idea. I didn’t know if it It’s the same idea for Alexander.
“First call to Moscow, Russian, aisle one.” I heard the first call for our flight, f*orcing myself to take a deep breath that I didn’t realize that I was holding. The fact that I couldn’t see my mate didn’t make this any easier. If anything, I was growing more frightened by the minute about the fact that something could have happened to him, and that was not something that I wanted to think of right now. If anything, I wanted to think about anything but the fact of him getting hurt in a situation like the one we were in.
“Where are you, Alex?” I asked, voicing out my thoughts as I held on to my daughter who was thankfully asleep in my arms. I knew that she wouldn’t be asleep for too long, but I just hoped that she was asleep until we were at least on the plane. I looked around the area, trying to catch sight of my husband. I couldn’t find him anywhere, at least not by sight, but I could catch his scent. As he neared, the smell of blood mixed with whatever smell he had, however, I knew that he could have washed his hands. I knew that he wasn’t stupid enough to walk around with blood in his hand. At least after he didn’t.
Alexander rushed toward us, making me release a breath that I didn’t even realize that I was holding. His eyes met mine and he studied my expression before I nodded in assurance, letting him know that I was fine; however, I wasn’t blind, I could tell that he was nowhere near being fine. If anything, he was more than just a little scared, and that was something that I couldn’t help but notice. He cupped my cheeks, k*issing my forehead before he called me towards the plane, his arm wrapped around my waist as he guided me towards the runway. The two of us took deep breaths, heading towards the plant, calming U.S. troops down as we made sure to get inside without raising any suspicions.
“We managed to get things done right.” He said, wrapping his arm around me as I walked. I could tell that he changed his shirt despite it being a white one, almost a replica to the one that he was initially wearing. The smell of blood still filled my nostrils despite knowing that he obviously did his best to wash his hands to clean them from it. We just needed to get on the plane and away from here, and I knew that things would be somewhat easier.
“And Kale?” I asked, trying not to sound odd or suspicious. I knew that the last thing that we needed was for anyone to see us as odd or to think that we had something to hide. Alexander looked down at me with a smile on his face. His smile didn’t reach his eyes, but I could tell that he was trying to control both his bloodlust and anger. The bloodlust of a wolf was far more dangerous than any human’s lust. They would crave for blood, and that alone would be scary as it could lead to more danger than they could think of; however, right now, I knew that Alexander would be controlling himself enough until we were out of here. Whatever lust that he was having, we could deal with it later when we have arrived to safety.
“Has been taken care of, and wouldn’t be found for a while.” He said, and I nodded. I didn’t even know how he managed to get in on the call. Especially considering the fact that they have announced that we were boarding the plane. That only meant that he was here for a while now. I believe that he might have needed time for himself to process what happened, and I couldn’t blame him. I needed my own time, but I knew that it could be done later. For now, I needed to focus on my daughter’s safety as I knew that she would be depending on me for that.
I didn’t ask any questions knowing that he would have taken care of it, but the fact that he was being as cold as he was told me that his all froze on the smell of blood. It was the smell that brought bloodlust and that was not something that any wolf wanted to deal with. Therefore I was sure to stay calm and quiet as I allowed him to digest and ingest what he has dealt with. Therefore, for now, I knew that I needed to stay very calm despite the fear that I was in.
He needed my strength and he needed me to be strong by his side. That was something that I was going to do for him. It was something that I was determined on being, at least until I got what I needed, until I got toward to what I wanted to reach and the target that I had in mind.
The fact that Mathew could actually kill her scared me, but it was an order of nature, and that was something that I was not willing to risk, especially when I knew that he wouldn’t hesitate to make us watch to simply prove a point. It was something that scared me, and that was something that I knew my husband knew and understood very well. It was something that I couldn’t address, but it was the reality of how things were, and that was something that I didn’t want to think of dealing with.
We got inside the plane and I couldn’t help the sigh of relief that escaped my l*ips for a second. I knew that this was one step closer to us being away from here; however, I also knew that it would be the first step to our revenge. It was something that neither one of us was going to let go of. If anything, this time, I didn’t want to drop the topic.
The man and his family have looked me dead in the eye and have treated me poorly simply because I was an omega when I was supposed to be an Alpha. Sure, the Alpha position may have not been for me since they took it, but beta, or gamma would have done. To be demoted to omegas after everything only made my c*hest burn, and for them to once raise me as a daughter only to have my going as an omega, living like an outcast in the pack in the furthest of villas as if not wanting to see me.
All these things played in my head like a scenario, and I couldn’t help but feel stupid for not realizing it before. I had so many direct messages and yet, I didn’t see them. I didn’t see what was right in front of me, and I couldn’t help but feel stupid because of it.
They have taken more than just a little advantage of me, and yet, I couldn’t read it in anyone’s eyes, if anything, I wouldn’t have believed it if anyone told me about it straight forward as I saw them as my family who simply wanted what was best for me.
“Are you okay?” Alexander asked, breaking my train of thoughts, catching my attention. I had to fight back jumping at his tone before nodding as I put on the best smile that I could muster.
I knew that he wasn’t part of what they did; however, the fact that he could have known about it and kept it from me played in my head as I felt like my c*hest ached. The feeling of fire being poured inside my c*hest and onto my heart made my breath get caught up; but I was sure not to show it.
Alexander took my hand in his as the plane started taking off. “One step closer, baby girl…” he said softly as we both looked at the somewhat empty plane. Most were not going to where we were at this time of year. “We are almost there…”
