“This phone, however, is a two??ay thing. If It moves he will know about it. So it stays in the house. I don’t want him knowing my every move or yours either. Understood.”
“Yes.”
They both answered her.
“Good, now I thought right here on the coffee table was a good place for it to stay, easily seen, and you can reach it.”
she told them
“I’ll be checking it once or twice a day, you can check it as often as you like.”
she smiled at them just a little.
“When we’re at school?”
Vin asked.
“It’ll be here in the house or…”
she sighed. She was in her writing studio when they were at school. She didn’t know if it would pick up her moving over there.
“My studio with me, but you can have it when you’re home,”
She told them.
“When we’re all sleeping?”
Cal asked her now.
She sighed a little more on the heavy side than she thought she would, and both the boys looked at her, and she waved it off. Their lives were about to change a lot. There was no stopping it.
“I suppose you can take it upstairs at night when you turn in.”
she had a feeling it was what he wanted.
“Calvin has agreed to send his schedule through to this phone if he has to leave the state of Texas, and a detailed flight plan if he’s going to be flying over the state of Virginia. So I know that he’s not coming here or trying to take you from me.”
That got their attention, and they were both staring at her a little wide??yed now.
“I don’t trust him, boys. I have no reason to at this point. Neither do either of you, for that matter. We don’t know him and his actions against me weren’t very nice now, were they, so I worry about that considering who he is.”
She told them honestly how she felt.
They were both frowning at her, because they knew he was their father, and they wanted to get to know him. She could see it, she’d seen their curiosity even back in Houston.
“He’s not allowed to text or call this phone other than for scheduling purposes, and I’d like to keep it that way as well for now. At least until the restraining order is over and then he and I will have a new meeting to discuss where things will go from there.
“You will eventually get to meet him, when he can show me he can abide by the law and do as he’s told, I guess you could say.”
She stated simply.
“What happens when you two de mething you’re not supposed to?
“she asked now
“We get punished or a smack,”
Cal stated.
“That’s right, Calvin did more than one thing he shouldn’t have, and the law tried to punish him, but he didn’t care about that, ignored the punishment dished out to him. So now I will do it. Punish him myself, because boys, someone has to make him realise that what he did was wrong.
“Do you understand that? I’m not out to stop you from seeing him or him you deliberately. I’m currently just making him serve his court??rdered punishment. To prove he’s learned his lesson, and then you can all meet and get to know each other.”
They nodded slowly up at her.
“Good, now go and play. I’m not sure how long it will be before you see his plane take off on that app, but you’ll get to see where he flies too.”
“His plane?”
Vin asked now.
“Mm, I hear he has a private jet that he travels on. I’m certain he used it to get out here from Texas.”
“Wow, I wonder what it looks like,”
Cal asked as he looked at his brother.
She nearly rolled her eyes, just shook her head and got up, walked away from them, left them there sitting with the phone and the app running. They’d gone from worry to happy curiosity in the blink of an eye over a plane. That likely one day they would be able to go on, and she knew that was what they were thinking.
“Homework.”
She called out to them,
“and pick up your bags f?r once.”
She muttered.
She was them both run off and pull a workbook from their bag and some pencils and, for the first time ever, hang their bags on those hooks by the door. Before running back to do their homework at the coffee table where that phone was.
She heard them talking to each other over there, giggling away and looked up from editing her chapter at the dining room table when they called out to her and waved the phone at her
“He’s flying mum.”
Vin called out to her.
