Calvin stated, but he did get up.
“I do, but I thought perhaps you might want to present yourself in a more casual manner, rather than in a full suit and all formal. Go as Calvin, the regular man, and not Calvin the billionaire. Tone it down a bit and make it more relaxed as well. Show Marilyn your other side. I believe every time you saw her here, you were wearing a suit.”
“I was.”
Calvin nodded.
“But if this is a legal meeting, wouldn’t a suit be appropriate?”
“She never wears one.”
Wil stated,
“I’ll wear a suit, as your attorney, but you should show her you’re also a normal everyday person. Jeans and tee??hirt and a casual jacket if you must wear one.”
Calvin frowned at him.
“That’s very casual.”
“Yes, I’m thinking let’s not present the billionaire, but the man that loves her. It might trigger something in her memories. You never know.”
Wil stated,
“Show her.”
he waved a hand down over Calvin’s body
“your softer side, the one I know she more than liked.”
He half smiled.
“Alright.”
Calvin agreed.
“I’m listening and will do what you think is best. We’ll have to drop into my a for that.”
nent
“I’m aware, I told Maeve, 2pm text her please.”
Wil asked him once more, and he watched Calvin do just that.
“Why does she want to see me?”
he asked.
“I don’t understand, she’s been avoiding me all this time.”
“The email didn’t state why.”
Wil shook his head and showed him the email; all it read was
‘Wil, Marilyn formally requests that your client be present at the meeting tomorrow. My apologies for the late notice, she just informed me 15 minutes ago, herself. Liam’
“Short and directly to the point,”
he commented as he took his phone back.
“Your guess is as good as mine, the word formally though, that bothers me.”
“Do you think Liam knows why?”
Calvin asked after a moment’s thought.
“If not, he’d have to put a call to her to find out. The moment after he sent that, no attorney likes going into a meeting with no knowledge or being blindsided by their own clients’ actions. He looked right at Calvin, pointedly, so
“Makes them look incompetent.”
Calvin nodded and murmured and apology, understood that was how he’d made Wil feel now and on more than one occasion. They went directly to his apartment and Wil leaned on the wall in the hallway and waited for Calvin to pack an overnight bag. He came out of that room and asked
“So where are we headed exactly?”
“Roanoke. I’ll have to book you a room at the hotel.”
“I’ll do it, tell me the hotel,”
Calving stated simply.
As they left the apartment, Wil casually asked
“How far is it from where Marilyn lives?”
“About 40 minutes…”
he answered and turned his eyes to Wil as he realised just what he’d done, sighed at Wil’s annoyed look.
“Mm, don’t do that in this meeting, stay quiet unless asked a direct question and appear to give it some thought, before you answer anything alright.”
Calvin nodded.
“I can do that.”
Wil hoped so, putting Calvin in a room with Marilyn he believed was too soon a thing to be done. But his was her request, so he would do it, but he would prep Calvin on this flight, about what kind of things he might expect and how he should not react to them. And he’d also prepare himself to have to haul Calvin from the room at some point.
