“it’s ajar.”
She chuckled as she closed the pantry door, that
Callum had left ajar. And they both laughed
“good one mum.”
She took the photo from Vincent.
“I got one more,”
she turned the photo to them.
“What did the ocean say to the bench?”
She waved the photo at them, and they shook their heads.
“Nothing, it just waved.”
She smiled and they both laughed at the joke.
Calvin
He plucked that bill he’d brought to Wil, right out of Wil’s hand, because he now knew that Wil was actively trying to stop him from knowing just how often he was holding secret meetings with Marilyn. It had been the reason he’d brought it in here to see just what was going on with his friend where Marilyn was concerned. The annoyed look on Wil’s face as Calvin left his office with that bill, to make his way to accounting said it all. Wil was definitely keeping something from him, and he was betting on it being that Wil had probably seen the twins in that last meeting and made the connection and was now trying to get the proof.
Hence, there being new meetings, and he’d likely tried to keep it a secret, but that bill landing on his desk, that had told Wil the company account was going to be forwarding them to Calvin. So he’d mentioned there would be more meetings to come was all.
He was doing it all behind Calvin’s back, in case there was nothing to share. He could actually understand why Wil was trying to keep things from him. He was trying to keep Calvin’s obsession at bay and keep him away from Marilyn and the children. He’d just voiced, he’d harmed them, a full reminder to Calvin of his actions against the woman. Had likely done it on purpose to remind him to stay away from her even.
He would let it go if that was the case, because it was likely Wil was also trying to help him. Calvin strolled into accounting and greeted his accountant,
“Morning Sally”
He smiled at her.
“Mr Reeves.”
She greeted him.
“Did you get that bill I sent you?”
“I did, and I followed it up with Wil.”
He nodded.
“It’s Miss Riddley’s legal fees for a meeting she had with Wil. You may pay it. I also have a favour to ask you, regarding two particular things.”
“Hmm?”
she frowned at him.
“Wil is going to come down here later this afternoon and request you no longer send any of these bills to me. Though you have my permission to pay them without asking me first.”
“You’re just going to pay her legal fees without question?”
Sally asked now.
“Yes.”
He nodded, and he was, because she was actually Marrin, only she just didn’t know it.
“So, you can tell Wil when he comes that I’ve told you to just pay them. He’s then going to ask you not to send them to me at all. This is where my favour comes in. I want you to tell Wil that’s fine. But I want you to send me a copy anyway and just not tell Wil about it.”
“Why?”
she asked right back.
“Because Wil is trying to hide meetings with Marilyn from me, and I want to know just how often they are being held, and where if possible. Sp, feel free to inquire about which hotel they used. It’s not listed on that bill. I’d like all the information, but I don’t want Wil to know. That’s the second favour.”
She was sitting staring at him now. She knew he rarely kept anything from Wil, and she would also know who Miss Riddley was.
“Perhaps, Mr Reeves, that is not a good idea; Women don’t like being stalked, even from a distance.”
He frowned right at her, unhappy with her words directed at him.
“I’m fully aware of that, Sally.”
He stated flatly,
“Tm, however, not stalking her, I’m actually stalking Wil.”
He told her.
Sally nodded
“Alright.”
Was all she stated, his unhappiness with her questioning him had come across loud and clear, T’ll pay this on the due date.”
She indicated to the bill.
Calvin nodded and walked away and returned to his office. He got himself a coffee along the way and stood staring out the window in his office. He was happy with his scheming to get around Wil. Two could play that game. Let’s just see how you like it.’ he thought to himself as he sipped his coffee.
He was standing there thinking about what he needed to do from here on out. He knew that he had to find a way to gain Marilyn’s trust. Something he’d broken himself, something even Wil had stated needed to be worked on. Wil had used the words ‘trust building’ himself. So, there was an issue there, even for Wil. He supposed she had no trust even in Wil due to him being Calvin’s lawyer.
