Calvin needed to leave because he couldn’t understand his own actions right that very second.

Marilyn

She stood staring after that man, as tears spilled down her face from his attack on her. It was uncalled??or she had never met him before, as far as she knew. She couldn’t understand what she’d done to deserve his anger or brute force. If she had been his wife? And divorced him? As he’d stated, ‘ex??ife, she could now see why she would have left him, and didn’t recall it either.

She was probably traumatised by him, and probably didn’t want to remember all the physical abuse that she was likely to have suffered at his hands, behind closed doors inside their home.

She took a shaking breath in and dashed her tears away and looked at Lisa.

“Are… you alright?”

she asked, as she finally pulled herself together and stepped over to help her up off the ground. Only to hear her cry out in pain as she tried to push up with both hands, lifted her left hand up and looked at it

“It really hurts.”

She stated.

That phone call she was on was still in progress, she could see Lisa had called 911 and was still on hold. What was the point of an emergency hotline if they just put you on hold? One could well die before they spoke to you and found out what the problem was.

“To the nearest hospital, Marilyn,”

Lisa stated.

“I’m not that injured,”

She stated, though her head still hurt from where he’d unceremoniously yanked her back by her hair. It would go away, she imagined.

“I don’t care, I want a medical record of what happened, he can’t just assault us like that and get away with it,

“Lisa grated, and

“and I’m not going to let him.”

Marilyn looked at Lisa standing there, looking down the street after that man. She was cradling that arm as they watched him get in a car, throw a U??urn and drive off the other way.

1 think you need it more than I do, Lisa.”

Marilyn sighed. Callum had broken his wrist once before, and she recalled him holding his arm just like that.

“You need an x??ay. I’ll drive,”

she stated, and Lisa looked at her wrist once more, then just nodded.

“I don’t think I can anyway.”

That call finally connected as they were getting in the car, and Lisa sat there on the drive and told the woman on the line they’d just been attacked and assaulted out of nowhere, by a man they didn’t personally know, for reasons unknown to them. Other than from what she could gather, Marilyn looked like his late wife. That they were headed to the nearest hospital she suspected she had a broken wrist. She wanted the police to come and take their statements. They’d gotten the man’s name, and they would be pressing charges. She’d caught some of the assault on her phone as proof.

Marilyn put a call into the hotel after they got to the hospital and the triage nurse had seen them both. Where she extended the babysitting service, she explained they were in the hospital and didn’t actually know how long they’d be there.

The police arrived while they were still sitting there in the waiting room, and Lisa reported that Calvin Reeves had not only stalked Marilyn, but had assaulted her, as well as shoving herself over, resulting in this possible broken arm. They kind of looked skeptical when she’d told them that yes, it was that Calvin Reeves, their famous billionaire, that he’d not liked how much Marilyn looked like his dead wife

Marilyn repeated her conversation with him, even told them how menacing it had felt, and that he leaned right down to her car and called himself her ex??usband. Before, he’d grabbed her by the hair and yanked her about.

They were looking at her and one nodded

“You do look just like her, I have to admit, but ex??usband. He buried her as his wife.”

She shook her head.

“How would I know? I don’t know him. I’m Marilyn Riddley. Never been married to my recollection.”

They’d still been skeptical, and Lisa had said

“I can prove it,”

had pulled out her phone and showed them what she’d recorded coming out of Starbucks, after hearing Marilyn yelling at him to go away, to leave her alone. She had him on film right up until he’d shoved her down on the ground, which though didn’t show him pulling Marilyn’s hair, they heard her scream in pain.

The police had not seen the footage online, but some passersby had gotten the whole thing on their phone from a little way away, and posted it, or sold it to some tabloid, and it was now the top??rending headline ‘Calvin Reeves, attacks Author, Marilyn Riddley in broad daylight.”

By the time Lisa had gotten her x??ay, and it was confirmed she had a fractured wrist, everything was being shut down and pulled off the web, which Marilyn saw just seemed to tick the woman off. Lisa stated that the man was pulling strings to close it all down, and she just knew it.

He had the money to pay people to get rid of it. That was Lisa’s opinion,

“Well, he’s not going to get away with it. I don’t care who he is,”

she’d grated out as they were getting ready to put a cast on her arm. She posted her video footage of the attack on Marilyn’s social media page, for all her fans to see.

What she looked like was going to be known from this, but Lisa had looked at her and stated

“Your picture is up at all the book signings on the event banner, and your fans take pictures of you while waiting in line. You’re already out there for them to see,”

Marilyn did know this to be true, so she hadn’t argued. She saw that Lisa had written about the two encounters that she’d had with Calvin Reeves, the one in the bookstore and on the street. That he’d attack Marilyn out of the blue, simply because she apparently looked like his ex??ife. Used that word and not late wife because he’d used it.

She also posted it on her own Twitter account, telling everyone to share it far and wide, because that man, one Mr Calvin Reeves, was now hiding behind his money and getting it all shut down so no one knew what he’d done

She attached pictures of her X??ay showing her wrist was fractured, had the doctor actually point it out, so everyone could see it, and then her arm in a cast as proof that he’d not only assaulted her but caused her grievous bodily harm. Hashtagged it: Billionaire Calvin Reeves; a man that beats up women.

“Deal with that asshole.”

Lisa had muttered. She made calls to the publishing house about the incident that had happened, sent the footage to the company’s legal team. Technically, they were still on the book tour, something Marilyn hadn’t even wanted to do in the first place, and they’d pushed her into doing. So this was technically their fault, which was how Lisa put it, but then in the next breath, she had stated to Marilyn, don’t hold your breath for more than a verbal apology, they can’t control the masses.

They arrived back at their hotel to find dozens of reporters there and rapid??ire questions were being asked of them about not only how they felt, but why they believed Calvin Reeves had attacked them, and if they were going to press charges and sue for damages, asked Marilyn if she was actually Marrin

Lisa had held up her broken wrist and stated,
