Chapter 6 – The Omega Destiny

Thane

Leaving our omega’s room is one of the hardest things I have found myself doing. Not our omega. Ayla. The little wolf omega. I shouldn’t have brushed her hair behind her ears, because now Ronan is surging hard, hitting against the mental barrier attempting to shift and run back to her room. I look down at my arms and ripples of for are moving over my arms and my nails are lengthening to claws. I can hear nothing but Ronan’s growling Protect our omega, watch, go back. I quickly grab the wall, fighting against the shift. I know if I go for a run, he will just run right back here. She must remind us too much of home and is driving his alpha wolf instincts into overdrive. She is not ours. She can be a pack member, but there isn’t a mate bond. We need to head back to the pack. I need to have her room ready for her to arrive tomorrow as early as possible so she’s not stuck there any longer. We will personally go back and bring her to the pack house tomorrow. She will be closer so we can keep an eye on her and there is more protection in the building. Give me the reigns Ronan. That seems to pacify him enough to calm down and let me have control again. For once, I am glad my late night of paperwork and inability to sleep happened. If I hadn’t been curious as to how she was doing, who knows how long she would have suffered with her panic attack or what would have happened to her.

Entering my rooms, I flick the switch on and travel through my living room area, undoing my top buttons while entering my bedroom and there in my bed is Della. Oh Della. Maybe Cyrus has a point. Three attempts in one day are a little much and much more than she usually does. She’s lying on the covers of my bed in black lingerie, legs crossed over her knees, arms spread out across the pillows, breasts hanging out, barely covered. “Della, what are you doing in here? How did you even get in here?” “The housekeeper let me in, and why are you getting back so late?” “I told you I was catching up on work and I was needed at the clinic tonight” “You went down to her again? How many times is that today? What could she possibly be asking you down there that many times for? Just send someone else.” “She isn’t asking me down there, and I don’t need to send someone else or ask permission to go anywhere. I am the alpha of this pack and I will do as I see fit. I don’t appreciate being questioned or the slight against Ayla. She hasn’t done anything wrong here.” “You’re right. I am sorry. Loverreacted. I am just getting really worried about you and I am concerned you’re not taking care of yourself. All of this work, the border patrol, shifter raids. You need to slow down. Why don’t you come over here and let me rub your shoulders and help you take care of yourself.” She asks me with her bottom slips slightly pouted out. I decide to walk over and sit on the edge of the bed to get this over with. Maybe when I thank her for the rub, she will agree its late and head back to her room.

She rustles up behind me and places her hands on my shoulders. She starts kneading and rubbing, working my knots out of my neck and shoulders. Down my back and up again. The rub feels great, but my minds not here. I’m thinking about the laundry list of things I need to do and everything that needs to be placed in Ayla’s room. The thought of her stunning face, and beautiful eyes lingering in my mind. I can still smell her lavender scent in my nostrils and I catch myself daydreaming about her. Talking to her, touching her. I rub my fingers together that held her lock of hair tonight. That beautiful white hair soft between my fingers. I let out a moan thinking about her and Della mistakes it for what she is doing. She abandoned her rub of my shoulders and now has her breast pushed against my back, rubbing her hands down my pecs from over my shoulders, her hot breath going into my ear. “Della, I think we should call this a night. I have a big day tomorrow and meetings I need to attend early. Maybe it’s time for you to head back to your room.” My eyes remain closed and she stops rubbing me for a second, but then starts back up again. “I don’t think that’s what you really want Thane.” I inhale deeply, exasperated by this whole scenario, wondering how I am going to get out of this. I start formulating what my next sentence will be when I catch myself yet again, thinking of Ayla. Her pouty pink lips are slightly apart She has her arms around my neck now and our noses are touching. We are moments away from kissing when I feel kisses going down my neck and hands undoing my shirt.

Damn it. I keep my eyes closed and start to turn to Della when she plants her lips to mine. Her tongue demanding entry. In my head, all I see is Ayla. We’re kissing softly at first, but then we start ravishing each other. Like we are each other’s breath. We need more and we can’t get enough. I push Della back flat on the bed and look at her, but I close my eyes and all I see is Ayla. Her milky white skin feels so good under my touch. I rip off Della’s panties and throw them across the room. Screw it. I have a raging hard on and she’s ready for me. I push into her with my erection, no foreplay tonight. Not when I need to locus, when Ayia is all, I ward to see. I keep my eyes closed and start to thrust in and out. Slow at first, but I become more relentless when all I can see is me holding Ayla, thrusting into her. Her taking all of me like a good girl, lavender scent surrounding me. Her yelling my name over and over as she comes. Hearing my name spurs me and I suddenly come to my senses enough to realize I am hearing Della yell my name and not Ayla. I hammer hard and fast to get this over with, quickly pulling out and finishing all over Della’s stomach. “I’m going to shower. I will see you later Della, I need to call this a night.” “I Daught i could stay over tonight?” she asks quietly. “You know that can’t happen. I’ve told you, epeatedly, I don’t do relationships. I’m waiting for my mate.” “Is that why you won’t knot me?” “Della, you know that I won’t knot anyone that isn’t my mate. I am not having pups outside of my mate bond and I truly beteve my mate will be an omega that can handle a knot as large as mine. There’s no way Della… just please go.”

Ayla

“Well Ayla, I am happy to tell you that the wolfsbane is barely in your system now. You may feel a bit tired still, but your labs look great. I do want you to focus on putting on some weight. I truly feel if we can get your weight up and get you healthier that we have a great chance of your wolf coming back. I think she was drowned in poison to keep her suppressed, but now I think once you start to acclimate and be around other wolves, she will resurface.” Eric educates me. He’s been giving me discharge instructions all morning in anticipation of my release to the pack house. The thought of seeing other shifters, or being around anyone terrifies me. I feel anxious just thinking about the anxiousness that I anticipate feeling when I see them and now, I feel nauseous. It must be written all over my face because Eric is quick to pick up on it. “It will be alright Ayla. Being around others will be tough at first, but you are the strong, you can do it. Oh, Thane is pulling in now.” The thought up seeing him again has my pulse sky rocketing, but I don’t feel scared. I actually feel mildly excited. Or moderately eager. I can’t explain what I am feeling. He’s been so good to me.

Thane walks into my room and if I felt I could talk, I wouldn’t be in this moment. I am at a loss for words as I look at him. He is ruggedly handsome in his black button up shirt, first few buttons unbuttoned with his sleeves rolled half up, dark jeans and messy black hair. The shirt is tight and accentuates his large muscles all over his 6??oot 4 frame. He has a dimpled smile when he sees me and I feel my heart melting. This man smells amazing and he is gorgeous. I can feel my face heating and I quickly look down at my hands. “Is everything set for her release Eric?” “Yes, alpha. I have her labs back and already instructed her on eating well to get her weight up. The wolfsbane is pretty much out of her system and I think when she acclimates to her surroundings and is around other wolves, she may even get hers back so to speak.” “What’s your wolfs name Ayla?” Thane asks me and I feel hopeful, but also sad. I’ve been without her for so long. I quickly grab my paper and write “Aramana.” “Aramana, that is a beautiful name for what I can only assume is a beautiful wolf. Have you shifted before Ayla?” Thane asks and I am immediately thrown back into a flashback. One time I have shifted and that onetime costs me my entire family. My heartrate spikes and I start to shake. My eyes are blurry and I can’t catch my breath. I am panicking and clawing at my blankets trying to get away. Away from what, I don’t know, but I have to get out of here. They could find me here. “Ayla, Ayla, it is okay sweetheart. Little wolf, can you hear me? You need to slow your breathing down with me. It will be okay. You don’t have to answer any questions you don’t want to, but we need to get you calmed down.” My vision improves as I rapidly blink and I can see Thane on my bed, arms on my shoulders, leaning in so we are face to face. His earthy pine smell is comforting as I regulate my breathing and calm my nerves. I hold up one finger. “You have shifted only once little wolf?” I nod my head “yes.”

Thane stands up and reaches his hand out for me. “When Aramana is back Ronan and I will help you with shifting and acclimating. Ronan is my wolf, and he is eager to meet yours.” The thought puts a smile on my face, but I quickly lose it. I don’t want to get too hopeful to quick. Hope is a luxury I haven’t been able to indulge in and I am not sure I should start now. My thoughts are all over the place and giving me whiplash at this point. I look at his outstretched hand and back up to him, still holding his dimpled grin. I take his hand and he proceeds to walk me from the room. “Goodbye Eric. I will keep you in the loop.” And with that he heads me down the hallway. “The pack house is just a short drive from here. I have your room ready with everything you may need. I have some clothes for you as well so you won’t have to keep the clinic sweats on, but if you are comfortable in them, please do.” He explains all of this to me, but I suddenly freeze as he is opening the door. It has been 10 years since I have been outside. 10 years since I have smelled fresh air, or seen the sky, clouds, or stars for that matter. I am scared to take these steps out of the building. Scared that I will gain this luxury only to have it stolen from me. Scared of the unknown.

Thane must realize my inner turmoil, because he starts rubbing my arm up and down in a calming manner. “Have you been outside of that dungeon at all Ayla?” He quietly questions as I turn to him with tears in my eyes and nod my head “no.” A sudden growl emanates from him and he curses under his breath. “I am sorry for my reaction. My wolf and I are just mad on your behalf little wolf. What happened to you is horrible, and I know this is a big step for you, but you are stronger than you know. You can do this.” He outstretches his hand to me again as I hover my foot over the entryway. I take a deep breath in and put my foot over the threshold. One foot outside and then another. I did it. I am standing outside. I can hear the birds, feel the breeze, smell the air. I turn my face up towards the sky and I smile. The sky is beautiful and the sun feels amazing on my skin. I have missed this so much. I look up at him, craning my neck back since there is over a foot of height difference between us, and he is smiling at me. His eyes radiantly green in the sun. “I am really happy for you to have this moment little wolf. Nobody will take this from you again.” He brings my hand up to his mouth and places a kiss on my knuckles. I quickly look down as I feel my face heat up. Thane chuckles to himself and leads me to his SUV. He opens the door for me to climb in and seat belts me into place. I am shocked that an alpha can be so gentle. Especially one as big and muscular as Thane. Nothing about him screams gentle. Well, maybe his dimpled, boyish smile.

The drive to the pack house was short. Soon, we pull up to a large complex. “This is the pack house. All unmated shifters can live here and our mated shifters and their families live within the town we have. There are seven floors with single and multi??edroom apartments.” Thane pulls up and gets out of the SUV. He quickly opens my door for me, beating another shifter to the door. “It’s alright Michael. You can park the car, but Ayla here will be more comfortable with me getting her settled in at the moment. Ayla, this is Michael, he takes care of the running of things for me at the pack house.” “Hello Ayla, it is nice to meet you. I’m like the house manager, so if there is something you are needing for your rooms and you don’t have it, please let me know. I have a team to keep things here running smoothly.” I look down at his outstretched hand and back up to him. He is pleasant, but I don’t know him or trust him. Actually, the only shifter I currently trust is Thane. When did that happen and is that wise? He quickly takes his hand back sensing that I am not comfortable shaking it and reaches into the back of his pants and produces a pad and paper. “I almost forgot alpha; I have this ready for you.” “Thank you, Michael.” Thane takes the pad of paper and pencil, handing it to me. I am shocked that he took the time to talk with his staff and more so that they have this ready for me. I give Michael a quick smile and walk with Thane into the pack house. My heart is racing, but I notice as we walk into the building that it is quiet. I don’t see a single shifter around.

“I asked everyone to make themselves scarce down here to not overwhelm you when we arrived.” 1 look up into his eyes and give him a genuine smile. His thoughtfulness surprises me. It is like he knows my fears and is ready with answers. I know that crowd of shifters has me relaxing. We enter the elevator and arrive on the seventh floor. “This whole floor is extra rooms for guests. My room is the last one

I will have to see others, but not running straight into a on the night and yours is here. I have a small apartment and your room and mine share a door. It was once a larger three??edroom apartment, but I don’t need that much space. Don’t worry there is a lock on the door and there is a lock on your own door, but just know that if you need me, you can use the door, knock on it, anything you need to do. You can keep it locked on your side, but I will keep my side unlocked for you.” I contemplate what he is telling me about a shared door, not really having the time to think about it and how I feel about it before there is a large, firm hand placed on my lower back and I am escorted into what is now my room.

Thane

The revelation that little wolf hasn’t seen the outside in ten years is heartbreaking and sets me into a rage. Protect, kill them all. Ronan is eager for blood. To totally annihilate every shifter that had a part to play in little wolfs misery. Her first steps outside, seeing that sun shine brightly on her face, illuminating her snow??hite hair is breathtaking. She is beautiful and seeing her smile makes every raid worth it. Every risk we take necessary to see her smile like this. To truly feel a bit of happiness for the first time in years. We will get names, the scumbag in the dungeon is still being tortured. We can pay him a visit later Ronan and we can work on getting answers for Ayla. The promise of blood shed seems to sate Ronan for now and he relaxes in my mind.

Escorting Ayla into her room is a sight. Her eyes go wide and she is darting them around taking everything in. I am proud the shifters on the first floor made them scare as instructed. I sense there would have been a panic attack had they not. “This here is obviously you living room area. The whole place is open concept. You have a small kitchenette since its guest lodging, but we also have a mess hall on the second floor where everyone can eat together if they want. I have meals brought up to you today though. I think slow is best right now and I am sure you agree.” She quickly looks at me and nods her head “yes.” I continue showing her around her rooms. Her eyes go wide when we enter her bedroom. I’m not sure if it’s the king??ized bed or just the fact she has one, but she begins to run her hand over the covers longingly. “This here is the door that separates our rooms. Through this door is my bedroom. It has a deadbolt here and there is one installed on your main door. You can choose to keep them locked. I have instructed everyone to stay off of this floor. There will be of course a few visitors to my place at times, but I mainly spend most of my time in my office or at the training grounds. Oh, I almost forgot…” I quickly walk over to her dresser, which I had filled with clothes and pick up a cell phone I had delivered for her. I hand her the phone and she slowly reach for it, turning it over and inspecting it. “I got you a cell phone since you can’t mind??ink me. I reserve the mind??ink for my close circle and we need to have a conversation about your pack and what you want to do, where you want to go.” At that she quickly turns around and looks at me with panicked eyes. “I’m not saying you have to leave here little wolf; I meant that if you want to return to your old pack, I can make that happen, or if you want to stay here and join the Midnight pack you can do that to.” The thought of her leaving has Ronan forcing himself into my mind barrier, pushing to break through Stay, protect, he growls. Calm down Ronan. This is overwhelming enough; I don’t need you forcing a shift in front of her. If she wants to return to her old pack, we have to allow that. She isn’t our mate Ronan; we can’t force her to stay. That statement to him earns me a very loud, rage filled growl.
