Clapping her hands together, she beamed, delighted by the unexpected turn of events.

“Andrew, I was just thinking—the baby is still too young to understand a word you’re saying. And yet, look at this! Ever since you spoke, Isabella’s appetite has improved. It’s almost as if the baby is being considerate of her!”

Isabella had been struggling with nausea ever since her pregnancy began. Elaine had expected it to last much longer. But now, to everyone’s surprise, Isabella felt significantly better. She was even eating the same meals she had enjoyed before she became pregnant.

Pausing mid-bite, Isabella placed a gentle hand on her stomach. Though her belly was still flat, she felt an unmistakable sense of warmth, as if the baby was silently comforting her.

“Thank you, little one,” she whispered, her eyes softening. “Mommy doesn’t feel sick at all now.”

Moved by the realization, she smiled. From that moment forward, the nausea never returned when she ate.

Elaine stayed for a few more days, wanting to make sure Isabella’s condition remained stable. Once she was certain her daughter was all right, she crouched down, bringing herself level with Isabella’s belly. “My sweet grandchild, you’re already so thoughtful,” she murmured. “I can’t wait to meet you.”

Then, standing upright, she said to Isabella and Andrew, “Now that you’re feeling better, I’ll take my leave. But if anything happens, call me immediately.”

Isabella understood that Elaine still had Susan and Sunny to care for, so she didn’t try to persuade her to stay.

“Mom, thank you for everything these past few days,” she said sincerely. “Andrew and I will walk you out.”

After Elaine left, Isabella’s pregnancy progressed smoothly.

Three months later, with her condition stabilized, Isabella maintained an active routine. Through regular exercise, her body remained in excellent health, and all of her medical indicators showed optimal results.

That evening, Andrew knelt before her, gently washing her feet to help her relax. Once he finished, he emptied the basin and returned to her side, his gaze lingering on her.

Pregnancy had softened her features, lending her an even gentler and more graceful aura. Unable to resist, Andrew leaned in, his lips brushing against the curve of her ear in a fleeting kiss.

Isabella, now more sensitive than ever, instinctively shrank back, her cheeks tinged pink. Andrew chuckled at her reaction, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her close.

“Isabella,” he murmured against her hair. “The doctor said three months have passed… we can finally…”

Isabella bit her lip, her pulse quickening at the meaning behind his words. It was true—they had refrained from intimacy for months out of caution for the pregnancy.

She didn’t want him to keep suppressing his desire for her.

With a small, shy gesture, she tugged at his sleeve, lifting her gaze toward him—eyes glistening with silent invitation.

Time passed quickly, and soon, Isabella was over five months along. Though she felt the baby’s movements daily, she couldn’t help but worry—her belly still appeared smaller than she had expected.

Concerned, she visited the hospital with Andrew by her side. After listening to her concerns, the doctor conducted a thorough examination.

The test results confirmed that the baby was in perfect health, though its positioning made Isabella’s belly seem smaller than expected.

“There’s nothing to worry about,” the doctor said. “In fact, this could make labor and postpartum recovery easier for you.”

Isabella let out a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding. Though she understood the logic, seeing the results with her own eyes helped her relax. With her mind at ease, she returned home with Andrew.

To keep her company, Susan later visited with her baby, Sunny, bringing along Milly and Evie as well.

By this time, Isabella’s stomach had begun to show more prominently. She could feel the baby’s movements growing stronger with each passing day.

Holding Elio, who was now almost a year old, Susan grinned at Isabella. “I wonder if you’re carrying a boy or a girl. Either way, Sunny will be the older brother. Just imagine how adorable it’ll be to watch them play together.”

Isabella glanced at Sunny’s chubby little hands as he giggled in Susan’s lap. A soft smile formed on her lips.

Placing a hand over her stomach, she whispered with quiet certainty, “Andrew and I will love our baby no matter the gender.”

Evie, who had been listening intently, clapped her hands in excitement. “That’s right!” she chimed in. “It doesn’t matter if it’s a boy or a girl—I’ll love them just the same! And with your and my brother’s genes, they’re bound to be adorable! I can’t wait to spoil them with gifts!”

As the conversation continued, Evie suddenly leaned closer, peering curiously at Isabella’s stomach.

“Isabella, can I touch my little niece or nephew?”

A gentle smile graced Isabella’s lips. “Of course you can.”

Carefully, Evie placed her hand over the slight curve of Isabella’s belly. Her fingers barely had time to settle before she felt it—a tiny press, like the baby was reaching out in response.

“Ah!” Evie gasped softly, her eyes widening as she felt a gentle flutter against her palm.

“Did the little one just… did they really say hello to me?” Her voice trembled with wonder.

A warm smile spread across Isabella’s face as she nodded. “The baby’s saying hello to their aunt—already recognizing family when they feel it.”

Delight sparkled in Evie’s eyes as she began chattering animatedly to Isabella’s belly, her words flowing like a happy stream.

Later that evening, fresh from her visit to Isabella’s, Evie practically ambushed Waylon. Her steps were deliberate as she cornered him, determination written across her features.

“Waylon, let’s get married!” The words burst from her lips like a long-held secret finally breaking free.

Waylon froze, caught off guard by this unexpected proposal that seemed to materialize from thin air.

“Where is this coming from, all of a sudden?” he managed to ask, his voice gentle despite his surprise.

Evie met his bewildered gaze, a soft blush creeping up to the tips of her ears.

“I spent the day with Susan, Milly, and Isabella,” she explained, her words tumbling out eagerly. “And I realized just how much I adore little ones. When we’re married, I want us to have our own baby—imagine them playing together on the lawn with their cousins! Waylon, do you agree?”

Waylon’s expression softened. “How could I say no to that? I’ll do anything you wish. But marriage is a milestone—let me prepare something worthy of this moment.”

“Okay!”

Isabella remained blissfully unaware that a simple gathering had sparked such a pivotal moment in her brother’s life.

After her guests left, she wandered into the garden’s embrace.

Dappled sunlight danced through the flower petals, creating a golden tableau. Andrew, coming back from work, caught sight of her from afar. The day’s tension melted from his features as he drew closer to where she stood.

He paused, drinking in the scene before him.

Isabella stood among the blooms, her profile etched against the evening light like a masterpiece. Andrew couldn’t resist capturing the moment, phone camera at the ready.

Despite her pregnancy, Isabella’s instincts remained sharp. The instant the shutter clicked, she turned toward the sound.

Recognition softened her initially wary expression as she spotted Andrew.

She gravitated toward him naturally. “You’re home early today.”

“Yeah,” Andrew replied. “Something more important demanded my attention.”

Curiosity flickered across Isabella’s features.

“A business trip?” Her question hung in the air.

Andrew drew closer, a mysterious smile playing at his lips. “No, nothing like that.”

“What is it then?” Isabella studied his face, noting how his expression held none of the usual gravity of work-related matters.

Andrew didn’t prolong the suspense. His lips curved into a gentle smile as he lifted his black briefcase. With deliberate care, he opened it.

There, nestled inside, was a perfectly wrapped package of crispy corn.

Isabella’s eyes lit up with recognition at the familiar logo.

“From the famous shop on Colto Road!”

“You mentioned wanting some, didn’t you? Here, try it while it’s still warm.” Andrew carefully extracted the treat and offered it to Isabella, his movements precise and thoughtful.

The familiar aroma wafted up to Isabella, along with the comforting warmth that still clung to the package. Her heart swelled with emotion. Just last night, she had mentioned the crispy corn from Colto Road in passing—not even expressing a direct desire for it. Yet here was Andrew, having gone out of his way to bring it to her.
