Andrew had heard Isabella mention this before, but never did he imagine she would present him with one in such a fashion.

Isabella tilted her head back, downing her wine in one smooth motion, the ring meant for Andrew resting delicately on her lips. The usual cold elegance she carried was gone, replaced by an intoxicating allure.

“Mr. Klein, we’ve known each other for so long, but the more I get to know you, the more I fall for you—over and over again, every single day. I designed these rings myself. They represent our love—eternal, unbreakable. You are the first man I’ve ever loved, and you will be the last. If you feel the same, let me put this on you, okay?”

Isabella twirled the ring between her fingers, her gaze locked onto Andrew’s.

Andrew’s dark eyes held only Isabella’s reflection. There was no room for anything else.

Silently, he extended his hand to her, surrendering to the promise embedded in the small silver band, a bond he had no desire to break free from.

“Do you like it?”

Isabella carefully slipped the ring onto his finger, admiring how perfectly it fit.

Andrew’s hand—strong, well-proportioned, and effortlessly masculine—made the sleek band appear even more striking. She couldn’t resist running her fingers over it, tracing the cool metal against his warm skin, unable to look away.

As he felt her lingering touch, a quiet joy surged in Andrew’s heart.

“I love it, baby. Thank you.” With that, he finished his wine, reaching into his glass to retrieve the second ring.

This one was smaller, more delicate, crafted just for Isabella.

He looked up, seeking her approval.

“Honey, may I?”

“Of course.”

Isabella extended her hand, and as Andrew slid the ring onto her slender finger, it gleamed under the dim lights, a perfect match for his.

Their intimate exchange didn’t go unnoticed. The other guests in the private room, caught up in the moment, erupted into cheers.

Seeing the couple lost in their own world, the group insisted they share a piece of cake together in front of everyone.

But for Isabella, what she had just done was already pushing her limits. The idea of sharing a piece of cake with Andrew in front of an audience was simply too much.

Noticing her discomfort, Evie quickly jumped in to save her.

“Come on, they’ve already given us enough sugar for the night. Any more and we’ll all get cavities! Just go enjoy yourselves!”

With the revelers successfully distracted, Evie turned to Isabella, her expression warm with happiness—and maybe just a little envy.

“Isabella, you and my brother have such an amazing relationship.”

“One day, you’ll have the same.”

Isabella smiled, giving Evie’s hand a gentle pat. At that moment, a voice suddenly chimed in.

“Waylon used to be here for every birthday celebration. It’s a shame he’s abroad this year and couldn’t make it back.”

As soon as Waylon’s name was mentioned, the conversation shifted. Several people began reminiscing about past celebrations, recalling moments when he had been present. The room remained lively, but Evie’s smile faltered ever so slightly.

And as if on cue, Andrew’s phone, sitting on the table, lit up with an incoming call. Everyone’s eyes instinctively flickered toward the screen.

“It’s Waylon’s video call,” Isabella remarked.

Andrew picked up the phone, swiping to accept the call. Waylon’s face appeared on the screen.

“Andrew, happy birthday. Sorry I couldn’t make it back this time. How’s the celebration? Let me see.”

Andrew turned the camera toward the room, letting Waylon greet the others one by one. Then, as the lens settled on Evie, Waylon froze.

Waylon’s gaze met Evie’s through the screen, his sharp eyes catching the faint trace of sadness on her face. Almost instinctively, he looked away.

After a brief pause, he finally spoke.

“Hey, Evie! Okay, you all have fun.”

With that, he swiftly shifted the topic.

“Andrew, the gift I got for you has already been sent. It should arrive in a few days, so be sure to check for it.”

As he spoke, a woman’s voice drifted in from behind him.

“Dear, are you ready yet?”

The woman never appeared on screen, but the warmth in her tone alone was enough to make Evie’s chest tighten.

Waylon turned his head, saying something to the woman before looking back at the screen.

“Andrew, Isabella, have fun. I have something to take care of, so I’ll hang up now. Let’s get together later.”

Isabella responded, “Okay, see you later, Waylon.”

With that, the call ended, and the room regained its previous liveliness. Conversations flowed freely, laughter rippled through the air, and someone even brought up the latest rumors about Waylon. But amidst all the lighthearted chatter, Evie sat there, her expression quietly betraying the ache in her heart.

Isabella noticed the shift in Evie’s demeanor and made her way over.

“Evie, what happened?”

Meeting Isabella’s concerned gaze, Evie found herself unable to put her feelings into words. Instead, she forced a small smile.

“I’m just a little tired. It’s nothing, Isabella. You don’t need to worry about me. I’ll just sit here for a while.”

Isabella frowned.

“Don’t be silly. How can I not worry about you?” She glanced around the lively room before pulling Andrew aside to quietly tell him about Evie’s state. Andrew, too, turned his attention to her.

“If you’re tired, don’t push yourself. Let the driver take you home to rest,” he said, his voice calm but firm.

If they hadn’t spoken up, Evie would have simply buried the sadness within her, letting it fester in silence. But their concern only made the emotions she had tried so hard to suppress feel even more fragile.

A lump formed in her throat, and an aching heaviness settled in her chest. Her nose stung, and she was moments away from tears. Yet, in the shifting lights of the room, neither Isabella nor Andrew noticed the moisture glistening in her eyes.

Evie knew she couldn’t sit there any longer. This was her brother’s birthday, a night meant for joy, and she refused to be the one to dampen the mood.

Pushing herself up, she forced her voice to remain steady.

“I’ll head back first.”

“Okay.”

Grabbing her bag, she slipped out of the private room.

The moment the door shut behind her, she exhaled shakily, lifting a hand to her forehead as if to steady herself—when in reality, she was wiping away the tears that had finally escaped.

Once she had regained some semblance of composure, she called the driver, climbed into the back seat, and let the darkness of the car wrap around her. She closed her eyes, unwilling to turn on the light.

In a villa abroad, Waylon carried a steaming bowl of soup into the bedroom. His voice was gentle as he called out, “Honey, try the soup I just made.”

From beneath the blankets, a delicate movement stirred. Then, a beautiful blonde woman emerged.

Seeing Waylon approach with the bowl in hand, she smiled brightly, looped her arms around his neck, and leaned in to press a kiss to his cheek.

But just as her lips were about to brush against his skin, Waylon’s expression suddenly shifted. His sharp gaze flickered past her, his eyes turning distant and unreadable.
