“Don’t worry, Andrew. I’ve got it. I’ll take care of myself…”

After her tears had subsided, Evie felt lighter. They shared a meal, and Evie gently urged Andrew to leave.

“Andrew, you don’t need to worry about me anymore. Go find Isabella. I’ll be fine.”

“Alright.”

After seeing Andrew off, Evie felt a sudden clarity, as though pieces of a puzzle had fallen into place. She quickly grabbed her phone and sent a message to her agent.

“Alis, do you still have the contact details for the assistant you recommended to me? If it’s convenient, could you also help me find a reliable housekeeper? Thanks.”

At Isabella’s villa, the swimming pool glistened under the harsh headlights of a car, the shadows of trees and flowers casting their fleeting forms onto the shimmering water.

Isabella, submerged beneath the surface, caught sight of a figure standing by the pool’s edge. She crossed her legs and pushed herself through the water with her slender arms.

With a soft splash, she emerged like a mermaid, the water’s shimmering glow wrapping around her in an almost otherworldly aura. Bobbing in the water, she glanced up at Andrew and said, “You’re back. How is Evie?”

“She’s fine,” Andrew responded briefly, his eyes fixed on Isabella as he described his meeting with Evie. He couldn’t tear his gaze away from her, and his voice became slightly hoarse.

“Are you cold?”

The temperature had dropped, but Isabella shook her head lightly.

“Swimming is a sport, and the pool has a temperature control system. It’s not cold at all.”

Noticing Andrew still standing there, she swam a little closer, extending her hand with an inviting smile.

“Do you want to swim a lap?” As she drew nearer, and with her body moving in the water, Andrew couldn’t help but look down, taking in her innocent, unguarded expression and the tempting outline of her figure.

His throat tightened. Isabella, completely unaware, tilted her head in confusion.

“Hmm?”

“I’ll go change.” Andrew turned quickly and headed for the changing room.

When he returned to the pool, he saw Isabella resting her arms on the edge, gazing at him. Her slightly parted lips sent his thoughts wandering, reminding him of the sirens from old legends, who entranced sailors with their songs…

After Isabella transferred her assets to Lilian, the latter had maintained an iron grip on the top position in the NCI rankings. With the simulation’s conclusion merely two weeks away, the whispers in every corner declared Lilian the undisputed champion of this season.

Aboard a magnificent cruise ship, Lilian found herself at the heart of an opulent high-society banquet, where crystal chandeliers cast their ethereal glow across the gathering.

Under the shimmering lights, she commanded attention like a queen holding court. She was flanked by her vigilant bodyguards, accompanied by a striking young man whose delicate features drew admiring glances. Her presence caused quite a stir — her reputation for extravagance preceding her like a herald.

“Miss Perkins, what a pleasure! Is this charming gentleman your latest companion?” A voice rang out from the crowd.

“Quite the catch, wouldn’t you say?” Lilian’s voice dripped with satisfaction as she basked in her recent triumphs.

“Come now, darling, do greet everyone.” She cast a meaningful glance at the young man beside her. Unable to refuse, the young man offered a swift greeting.

“Hello, everyone.”

As he dipped his head in a modest bow, his shirt collar shifted ever so slightly, revealing a telling crimson mark adorning his neck.

The assembled guests exchanged knowing smirks and raised eyebrows.

“My, my, Miss Perkins, fortune certainly favors you. This one appears to possess such… agreeable temperament.”

Lilian merely arched an eyebrow, her silence speaking volumes. Someone in the crowd, reading the atmosphere, deftly steered the conversation elsewhere.

“There’s still half a month until the NCI results are set in stone. Lilian, you’re leagues ahead of everyone else. My father’s going to lecture me senseless when I return home. We all socialize in the same circles, yet how do you maintain such excellence while we flounder? It’s maddening!”

“You simply must accept a penalty drink today! Otherwise, when victory is yours, don’t expect us to throw you a celebration!”

“That’s right, Lilian, you have to drink!”

The chorus of young heirs and heiresses who regularly orbited around Lilian joined the rallying cry.

Being the shrewd businesspeople they were, their seemingly envious words masked calculated flattery directed at Lilian.

A playful smile danced across Lilian’s crimson lips.

“You lot are something else, trying to get me tipsy right from the start.”

“Well then, are you drinking or not?” The group called over a server, who promptly placed a crystal glass before Lilian.

Her cat-like eyes, narrow and upturned, assessed the wine before her. In one fluid motion, she lifted the glass and emptied it with graceful finality.

“Good!”

The crowd erupted in appreciative applause at her display, their enthusiasm transforming the already lavish atmosphere into something even more electric and grandiose.

At a calculated distance, a young man in an impeccably tailored khaki plaid suit observed Lilian’s entourage with barely concealed contempt. His features, handsome as they were, twisted into a disapproving frown that spoke volumes.

“My goodness, Mr. Welch, why such a thunderous expression? While everyone’s spirits soar, you alone seem to carry storm clouds above your head! Come now, share your thoughts—perhaps your gloom might entertain us all!” Lilian, in the midst of her revelry, caught Healy Welch’s bitter gaze. With a deliberately provocative arch of her eyebrow, she steered her group purposefully in his direction.

The onlookers held their breath, anticipating the impending drama with barely concealed excitement.

The animosity between the Perkins and Welch families ran deep, like an old wound. Before the Perkins family swept into Estresa, the Welch family’s influence had cast long shadows across the region. Yet when the Perkins family arrived, their ruthless tactics swiftly crushed the Welch family’s carefully built empire.

The Welch lineage, proud of their scholarly heritage, carried themselves with old-world dignity even as they ventured into business. This fundamental difference in values made them despise the Perkins family with burning intensity. To Healy, Lilian was less than dirt beneath his shoes—even a passing glance felt like a stain on his conscience!

But today, Lilian had set her sights on provoking him deliberately.

With casual insolence, Lilian slipped her hands into her pockets and sat in a chair, her predatory gaze sizing up Healy.

“What’s the matter? Cat got your tongue?”

You come here knowing full well I’d be present? Did you show up just to dampen the mood with that funeral face of yours—looking like you’ve just buried your mother?”

“Lilian, how dare you!” Healy bolted upright, rage contorting his features. The wound of his mother’s recent passing was still raw, and Lilian was deliberately pressing her fingers into that open gash!

Lilian let out a contemptuous laugh.

“Too much for you to handle? Oh, I’ve got plenty more where that came from. Want a taste?” She was cut off as Healy’s fist sliced through the air toward her face. She twisted away, barely avoiding the impact.

But Lilian wasn’t one to back down from a fight. In one fluid motion, she snatched a decorative piece and launched it straight at Healy with brutal force.

“What’s wrong with me saying that to you? Tell me, did I speak any lies?! Healy, why don’t you take a good hard look at yourself? What exactly do you do better than me? What gives you the audacity to raise your fist against me?! Oh, now I see clearly. You couldn’t surpass me in the NCI, and that’s eating away at you, isn’t it? Face reality, Healy—you’ll forever remain nothing but a footnote in my story!”

Healy wasn’t backing down. He pressed forward with renewed fury, his words dripping with venom.

“Ha!” he spat.

“Everyone knows how you climbed to the top—through the sewers! Your character is as filthy as your methods. I wouldn’t lower myself to compete with someone like you!”

“That’s rich coming from you!” Lilian taunted.

“If you’re so above it all, why did you even enter the NCI?”

She gracefully rolled away from Healy’s incoming strike, creating tactical distance between them. Her lips curved into a cruel smirk as she continued, “If you’re such a paragon of virtue, why not defeat me with your precious honorable methods? Oh wait—can you even manage that?”

Healy’s jaw tightened as he clenched his fists tightly, glaring at Lilian’s arrogant look. Many people around them were already taking videos with their phones. Healy’s friend whispered to him, urging him to be practical and not argue with Lilian anymore.

This scene made him feel both sad and indignant. He had participated in countless business ventures and activities, hoping to carve out a respectable reputation for himself. Yet, the world of Estresa’s elite had been thrown into chaos by the Perkins family. Now, was it wrong to play fair and square in business? At the thought of this, Healy decided not to back down.

“Who says I can’t?”

“Oh?” Lilian stared at Healy with a strange expression, as if he was a big joke.
