After Edge Entertainment’s Twitter post congratulating Milly on her relationship, his agent urged him to repost it and publicly clarify his stance to both his fans and the public.

Watkins and Milly had a huge number of fans who shipped them as a couple, and Milly’s unexpected announcement had shattered their illusions. Heartbroken fans flocked to Watkins, unfollowing Milly and pledging unwavering support to him.

While Watkins gained millions of new fans in the process, he would have traded them all in a heartbeat to avoid the painful reality that any chance he had with Milly was now gone.

He pursed his lips, his gaze lingering on Milly with a mix of frustration and longing. He heard that her mysterious boyfriend relied on her for food and accommodation. Watkins couldn’t fathom what made this man so special that Milly had fallen head over heels for him.

Unaware of the storm brewing within him, Milly nodded politely.

“Thank you.”

“Urn… yeah,” Watkins faltered, unsure how to respond.

The air in the corridor grew thick with silence. Watkins struggled to find the right words, a torrent of emotions threatening to spill over, but none of them felt appropriate. On the other hand, Milly stood still, her expression neutral, wondering why he seemed to be blocking her path.

Sadie, following closely behind her, quickly noticed the tension. Watkins’s gaze held a hint of sadness, one that made her wonder if perhaps those fan-shippers hadn’t entirely imagined the chemistry between him and Milly. But whatever feelings Watkins had, they no longer mattered—Milly had a boyfriend now, and that was the reality. Sensing the need to defuse the situation, Sadie stepped forward with a practiced smile.

“Watkins, I saw your Twitter post. Thank you so much for showing your support,” she said warmly.

“That was really thoughtful of you. I’ll make sure to send some exciting opportunities your way soon! We’ve got to get going—Milly has a meeting with Miss Patton.”

Sadie’s words carried a subtle but clear message: Watkins shouldn’t linger any longer. Watkins clenched his fist at his side and stepped aside, allowing them to pass.

Sadie and Milly arrived at Isabella’s office. There wasn’t anything particularly pressing—Isabella just wanted to check on Milly. Once reassured that she was fine, Isabella offered a small smile and turned to Sadie.

“Thank you for your hard work today. Everything regarding Milly will remain as it is. If any issues arise, contact me directly.”

“Understood, Miss Patton,” Sadie replied before leaving the office.

Howard was already on his way here to pick up Milly.

Meanwhile, Isabella turned to Andrew, who had been waiting patiently by her side.

“Thank you for your help today, darling,” she said with a smile.

“Let me treat you to dinner.”

Andrew chuckled and nodded.

“Sounds good.”

The two of them departed, leaving Milly to find a quiet sofa where she could rest for a moment. A few minutes later, her phone buzzed. Howard’s voice came through the line, warm and familiar.

“Honey, I’m downstairs. Come on out.”

Milly’s previously expressionless face lit up with a radiant smile. She grabbed her phone and headed toward the building’s exit. As she stepped outside, her eyes immediately spotted Howard waiting by the roadside.

Just as she quickened her pace toward him, Watkins emerged from the building. He paused, his gaze locking on Milly. The way her face lit up and her excitement overflowed left little doubt—this was the man she had been hiding. This was Milly’s mysterious boyfriend.

A sharp pang pierced Watkins’s chest, and before he could stop himself, he called out, “Milly, I need to talk to you.”

“Huh?” Milly turned back, surprised. Her feet paused on the steps, but her heart was already with Howard.

As if sensing her hesitation, Howard moved toward her, closing the distance with confident strides. Reaching her side, he slid an arm around her shoulders in a protective and possessive gesture.

“Honey, what’s going on here?” Howard’s voice was calm, but there was an edge to his tone as his eyes landed on Watkins. The subtle warning in his gaze was impossible to miss.

Watkins stiffened, but he wasn’t ready to back down. His gaze flicked to Howard’s strikingly handsome face, and jealousy fueled his next words.

“Milly, don’t let appearances fool you! Some people might say they love you, but what they really love is your money!”

Howard arched an eyebrow, his lips curling into a faint, amused smile.

“Are you referring to me, Mr. Byrd?” His tone was calm, almost teasing, but his gaze was piercing.

Watkins’s expression hardened.

“Whoever it is knows exactly what they’re doing,” he shot back, his voice laced with bitterness.

Howard’s smile didn’t waver. He had always kept a low profile, but he understood where Watkins’s suspicions came from. The paparazzo’s viral video had twisted the truth, painting him as someone living off Milly. It didn’t bother him much—after all, in the video, it was Milly buying things for him.

He rubbed his fingers together thoughtfully, considering how to respond, but Milly stepped forward before he could speak, positioning herself protectively in front of him.

Her expression was calm, her voice steady as she addressed Watkins directly.

“So, you’re saying my boyfriend only cares about my money?”

Watkins hesitated for a moment, then nodded.

Milly’s expression didn’t waver. She nodded in return, her voice firm and deliberate.

“Well then, there’s no problem. I’m just grateful that I have money.”

Watkins was momentarily stunned into silence. He opened his mouth as if to retort but found himself at a loss for words.

Meanwhile, Watkins’s agent had approached just in time to hear the exchange. The agent’s face betrayed a mixture of surprise and discomfort.

The online frenzy surrounding Milly’s relationship had fixated on a narrative of her being blind to her boyfriend’s deceit. Yet, Milly’s statement flipped that narrative entirely. She didn’t deny the rumors—instead, she reframed them with unwavering confidence. Was this the truth, then? She was willing to give, and he was happy to receive?

Watkins’s agent was puzzled by Milly’s response but understood that his artist had crossed a line. Acting swiftly, he offered Watkins a graceful way out.

“Watkins, I know you admire Milly, but she and this gentleman make such a good match. You’ve never been in a relationship, so stop worrying about other people’s relationships. We have a dinner party to attend tonight—let’s get going.”

He tugged at Watkins’s clothes, signaling him to leave immediately.

Milly’s defense of Howard was firm and direct, leaving Watkins with nothing more to say. He glanced at Milly, then at Howard behind her, hiding the disappointment in his eyes as he muttered, “I hope you won’t let Milly down.”

Howard, standing tall behind Milly, nodded with quiet assurance.

“Of course I won’t.

Milly is the most wonderful woman in the world, and I’ll spend my life protecting her.”

Howard’s words were so natural and heartfelt that even Watkins, an actor, couldn’t detect a trace of performance. He clenched his fists as he watched Milly blush and look up at Howard with pure, adoring eyes.

“Let’s go,” Howard said to Milly.

Captivated by her charm, he wanted nothing more than to have her all to himself. He took her hand, uninterested in wasting another moment on Watkins, and walked away with her.

The agent, noticing Watkins’s crushed expression, patted him on the shoulder in sympathy.

“Alright, stop looking. You should focus on working hard. Besides, this might not be the end—Milly isn’t married yet.”

Even as he comforted Watkins, the agent couldn’t shake the feeling that Howard’s face looked familiar.

Before the agent could figure it out, Watkins had already pulled himself together.

“You’re right!”

Until Milly married that man, anything could happen. Watkins believed he was not inferior to Howard. All he needed was to work harder and seize the opportunity when it came.

Inside the car, Howard had no idea that Watkins hadn’t given up on Milly. But even if he knew, it wouldn’t matter. Watkins wouldn’t stand a chance.

Howard leaned over to help Milly buckle her seatbelt, planting a light kiss on her cheek as he did so.

“Baby, I’m so happy today. I’m glad you’re willing to make our relationship public.”

The car was filled with warmth as Milly tilted her head, gazing at him intently.
