“Do you have any idea who he is?” she asked the paparazzo.

The paparazzo shook his head, shrugging.

“He kept his hat and mask on, and I couldn’t risk getting too close.

Milly’s sharp—she doesn’t let her guard down easily. You wouldn’t believe how many of my colleagues tried tailing her and got caught.”

Sensing Tatiana’s hesitation, the paparazzo leaned in, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper.

“Look, I may not know who he is, but you and I both know how these celebrities operate.

Milly’s splurging on him—luxury goods, a fancy car, her own card. She’s not just being generous; she’s keeping this guy.”

It wasn’t unheard of for a man in a weaker position to let a woman support him. Tatiana began to believe the idea.

Maybe the familiarity she sensed was just her imagination playing tricks on her.

The paparazzo, sensing his moment, added confidently, “Milly is Edge Entertainment’s golden goose, and her supposed romance with Watkins keeps the public hooked. If people find out she’s secretly supporting another man, her image is toast. Out of respect, I came to you first, Miss Fernandez.”

Tatiana immediately caught the subtext. If she didn’t act, he’d take the evidence to Milly. Fixing him with a steady gaze, she asked, “What’s your price?”

The paparazzo’s face lit up.

“Miss Fernandez, you and I have worked together long enough for you to know the value of a scoop like this—“

“Fine. I’ll transfer the money. Do what you need to.”

At Edge Entertainment, Isabella had just wrapped up her day and was preparing to leave with Andrew when the news broke about Milly’s alleged relationship.

With work hours over, the online crowd was swelling. As news spread that Milly and Watkins had been promoting their couple image while she was secretly supporting another man, the public’s admiration for her quickly shattered.

“She pretends to be innocent but is secretly a playgirl? Disgusting!”

“She’s taken it too far. Why is she getting so close to Watkins if she’s secretly seeing someone else? Is it all just for the fame? Gross!”

“I regret being her fan. So disappointed in the entertainment industry!”

“She comes across so perfectly on TV shows. I thought she was innocent and devoted to a relationship. Never imagined she’d be this hypocritical. It’s so ironic…”

The online chatter was intensifying, with many fans turning increasingly hostile.

Isabella wasted no time and called Milly’s and Watkins’s agents.

“Is Milly still at the event? Keep her safe and bring her back to the office immediately.”

“Watkins should stay silent for now.”

She calmly issued instructions one after another before turning to Andrew.

“I’m sorry, honey, but I need to handle Milly’s situation first.”

Andrew had already seen the online video. The only man who would kiss Milly was Howard. Unsure of how he and Milly planned to address it, he refrained from rushing to suppress the trending topic.

He placed a reassuring hand on Isabella’s shoulder, sensing her tension.

“This issue is important. Reporters will be heading here soon. I’ll ensure security is tight. Once you’re done, we can leave together.”

“Okay.”

The leaked video was undoubtedly an attempt to capitalize on Milly’s newfound popularity.

Isabella studied the video’s length, noting that Milly had been stalked.

It was not unusual for celebrities’ private lives to be exposed in the entertainment industry, but Isabella wasn’t about to let the stalker slip away. Since they had breached Milly’s privacy, she was determined to make sure they faced the consequences.

Inside a prominent art building, Milly’s agent, Sadie Blakely, received Isabella’s instructions and immediately contacted the brand Milly was endorsing, demanding the commercial shoot be paused and that Milly be brought back to the office first.

Milly’s reputation now in question, the brand had no choice but to reassess. Sadie’s request was quickly approved.

“Milly, we need to head back to Edge Entertainment.”

Sadie guided Milly through the building. As they reached the first floor, they were confronted by a swarm of reporters from various outlets and fans, visibly upset after catching wind of the scandal.

“What’s the real story behind your relationship status, Miss Duncan?” A reporter’s voice cut through the chaos.

“Miss Duncan, how do you respond to accusations of deceiving your fanbase?”

“In light of your fans’ disappointment, do you have any statement to make, Miss Duncan?”

A storm of camera flashes engulfed Milly as microphones were thrust toward her from every direction. Despite the presence of bodyguards, Sadie fought an uphill battle, trying to guide her to the waiting car.

Milly clutched her phone, reviewing the damning footage the paparazzo had unleashed. Howard’s call had come moments later, and they’d agreed to strategize once they reached Edge Entertainment’s headquarters.

Self-aware of her limitations in handling media crises, Milly fell into step behind Sadie, maintaining a diplomatic silence.

The reporters’ desperation peaked as they watched their story slipping away behind a wall of bodyguards. In a moment of reckless frustration, one reporter hurled his notebook toward Milly, his accusation piercing through the chaos.

“Face your consequences, Milly! Did you think there wouldn’t be consequences for consorting with questionable characters?”

“Which news outlet do you represent? Is this how you conduct journalism—by assaulting people?”

Sadie’s heart nearly stopped. That notebook had been a missile aimed at Milly’s face. Thank heaven for Milly’s quick reflexes. Yet, while she’d dodged injury, the incident left everyone shaken.

The reporter faltered momentarily under Sadie’s withering glare. But seeing Milly unscathed fueled his audacity.

“Don’t let your team deflect attention from the real issue, Milly!”

“He’s clearly lost it,” Sadie muttered, frowning at Milly.

“Let’s get out of here.”

But Milly, who’d been the picture of compliance moments before, defied Sadie’s urging and stood her ground.

She turned, her once-warm features transforming into a mask of glacial disdain. Her obsidian eyes locked onto the reporter with laserlike intensity.

The change in Milly’s demeanor sent a chill down even Sadie’s spine, leaving the belligerent reporter frozen in his tracks.

A preternatural hush fell over the chaos as Milly’s penetrating gaze swept across the crowd, sending shivers down every spine present.

With deliberate grace, Milly brushed aside Sadie’s protective arm. She retrieved the discarded notebook and advanced toward the reporter with measured steps, each click of her heels echoing in the silence.

“What do you think you’re doing?”

The reporter’s confidence wavered. In his career of ambushing fallen celebrities, he’d always played the predator, watching them crumble under his aggressive tactics, exposing their vulnerabilities. But now, facing Milly’s death-ray glare, he found himself cast in the role of prey. He involuntarily gulped as Milly halted mere feet away, her presence electric with controlled fury.

In one fluid motion, she whipped the notebook across his face with a resounding crack, simultaneously snatching the microphone from his slack grip and bringing it to her lips.

At Edge Entertainment, Isabella had just traced the source of the leaked video to the paparazzo responsible for filming Milly and Howard when her secretary burst through the door, panic evident in every movement.

“Miss Patton, it’s happening—Milly just confirmed her relationship with the man from the video!”

The live stream captured every moment with crystal clarity—Milly hitting the reporter with the notebook and then taking the microphone to give her explanation.

“Let me be perfectly clear. Yes, I am in a relationship. No, it’s not with Watkins—we are strictly professional colleagues. And my partner is nothing like what was just suggested…”

Milly’s gaze pierced the offending reporter. Then, drawing herself up to her full height, she delivered her declaration with unwavering conviction.

“The man I love is the embodiment of honor and integrity. He is my sanctuary, my one true love in this world! Say what you will about me, but I won’t stand for anyone slandering him!”
