Elaine’s voice came through the line, warm and inviting. “Isabella, are you swamped with work? How about a shopping trip with me?”

Isabella rarely turned down invitations from Elaine, and it just so happened she had a bit of free time right now. “Right now? Should I pick you up at home?”

Elaine chuckled on the other end. “No need, I’m already at the shopping district near the office. Just come here.”

“Okay.”

Isabella ended the call with Elaine, gave her secretary a few instructions, and headed out.

When she arrived at the shopping district, Elaine studied her closely, concern knitting her brows. “Isabella, you’ve lost weight. Haven’t you been eating properly lately?”

Isabella had been so focused on work lately that she’d indeed shed a few pounds. She didn’t want Elaine to worry, so she quickly reassured her, “Mom, this body is just perfect for me.”

Isabella twirled around playfully, showing off her figure. She looked stunning, but Elaine remained unconvinced.

“Sweetheart, you’ve always been slender enough. Neither being too thin nor gaining too much weight is healthy. I heard from your brother that you’ve been doing a fantastic job at Patton Group, but if you’re working yourself into the ground and risking your health, I won’t be happy about it. Your hard work matters, but so does your well-being.” Elaine gave Isabella a look that clearly said she wouldn’t hesitate to stop Isabella from going to work if she didn’t start eating right.

Isabella quickly responded, “I understand, Mom. I’ll make sure to eat well.”

Elaine nodded in agreement, but a sudden thought crossed her mind.

“I didn’t notice you had lost weight because I’m not by your side every day. Andrew’s with you all day—why hasn’t he persuaded you to take better care of yourself?”

Isabella blinked in surprise. Her mother’s words hit her like a wake-up call. She hadn’t realized just how little she’d communicated with Andrew lately, or how he hadn’t been reminding her to eat.

Elaine narrowed her eyes, sensing something was off. She paused, her shopping plans forgotten. A mother’s instinct kicked in, and she asked gently, “Sweetheart, tell me honestly, is there something going on between you and Andrew?”

“Mom, we’re fine,” Isabella replied automatically.

Elaine, unconvinced, pressed further. “Then tell me, how long has it been since you two went out together? And what did you have for lunch today?”

Isabella fell silent.

The last time they’d gone out together was nearly a month ago. As for lunch, she knew she’d eaten it at the company cafeteria, but beyond that… she wasn’t sure what Andrew had been up to.

Elaine, having lived through her own youth, saw the signs and gently took Isabella’s hand. Her voice softened. “Isabella, I know you and Andrew are both incredible people, and you care about each other deeply. But keeping love alive, staying in love, that’s the real challenge. You need to show concern for each other. When you’re busy, don’t neglect him.”

Isabella met her mother’s earnest gaze, and with a deep breath, she nodded.

“Mom, I understand.

Thank you for reminding me. I’ll reach out to Andrew right now.”

Isabella pulled out her phone and opened their last conversation, where Andrew had asked if she wanted to watch the sunset after work, and she’d said maybe next time.

Feeling a little frustrated with herself, Isabella started typing a message, only to stop midway. She deleted what she’d written and typed a new message instead. “Honey, the weather’s beautiful today. If you’re free, can we catch up on that sunset we missed?”

She hit send, but there was no reply. Sighing, she turned to Elaine. “Andrew’s probably busy, Mom. Let’s go ahead and shop, and I’ll try again later.”

Elaine nodded, seizing the perfect opportunity to pick out some lovely outfits for her daughter.

After more than three hours of shopping, Elaine was ready to head home. Before leaving, she gave Isabella a playful wink. “Sweetheart, take good care of yourself.”

“I will, Mom.” Isabella waved farewell to Elaine, watching as the driver escorted her mother away. She placed the clothes Elaine had purchased for her into the car. Settling into the driver’s seat, she glanced at her phone screen, still void of any new messages. After a moment’s hesitation, she decided to call Andrew.

The phone rang several times, but he didn’t pick up. Isabella pursed her lips, deciding to drive straight to Klein Group’s building.

When she arrived, she expected to find Andrew hard at work. But to her surprise, Andrew’s assistant informed her that both Andrew and Malachi had been absent from the office all afternoon.

“Miss Patton, is there something you need from Mr. Klein?” the assistant asked.

Isabella nodded, a little frustrated. “It’s just something small, but I’ve already called him. Please continue with your work.”

As soon as Isabella walked into Andrew’s office, her eyes landed on the small plant sitting proudly in the middle of his desk. Its leaves were lush and green, a clear indication that it had been well cared for. It was the one she had given him before.

Andrew’s office was a reflection of his personality—minimalistic, cold, and unwelcoming.

The walls were bare, except for a few framed documents and a modern clock. Now, this touch of green stood out as the only unique element in the room. She looked around and noticed several spots in the office that brought back memories of their shared, cherished moments.

Isabella opened her chat log with Andrew and hesitated about whether to call him again. She hesitated for a long time. She didn’t like being indecisive, but the thought that she might have unintentionally pushed away Andrew, the man she loved, made her feel guilty.

Isabella closed her eyes, still undecided. At that moment, her phone suddenly vibrated. She looked down and saw Andrew’s profile picture, making her sit up straight. She pressed the answer button, slowly brought the phone near her ear, and said, sounding a little flustered, “Andrew…”

There was silence on the other end of the line before someone finally responded, “Yes?”

Andrew immediately rushed back the moment he saw the messages from Isabella and his assistant. He explained, “I didn’t see the message this afternoon. Did you encounter any difficulties?”

“Can I only look for you when I encounter any difficulties?” Isabella felt a little uncomfortable when she heard Andrew’s question, so she retorted without thinking. But she instantly regretted it.

She sighed, feeling guilty. In the past few weeks, it seemed she had only contacted Andrew when she needed something. No wonder he thought that way.

“No, I didn’t encounter any difficulties,” Isabella added. But at that moment, her inner turmoil and self-reproach, combined with the worry she had carried all afternoon, swirled together like a whirlwind of emotions. It showed clearly on her face, making her seem far less composed than usual.

“Andrew, I miss you,” she suddenly whispered. Her voice was so low that it was almost inaudible.

After confessing her feelings, Isabella heard a “click” sound. “I know.”

Suddenly, two identical voices sounded—one from the door, and the other from her phone. She stared blankly at the tall figure who appeared in the doorway. Her nose felt sore, and the corners of her eyes reddened. “Andrew…”

Isabella hadn’t expected Andrew to appear in front of her right after she’d said she missed him. Before he returned, she was able to control her emotions. But now that he was here, she no longer wanted to.

This was the first time Andrew had heard Isabella’s voice sound so sad, and his heart immediately ached for her. He quickly walked to the sofa and pulled her into his arms.

“Honey, what’s wrong? Did something happen?” Andrew asked cautiously, not knowing what was troubling her.

Isabella shook her head and hugged him even tighter. “I just miss you.”

Andrew didn’t say anything more. Although they had only been separated for half a day, he also missed Isabella deeply at this moment.

It took Isabella a while to compose herself. She raised her head from Andrew’s chest, looked at him, and said, “I’m sorry. I’ve been neglecting you lately.”

As soon as she said this, Andrew gently rubbed Isabella’s head and placed a soft kiss on her forehead.

“Honey, you don’t have to say that. I totally understand,” Andrew said with a smile, gently reassuring her. “Do you want to go somewhere with me?”

Isabella nodded. “Yes.”

“Okay, let’s go then.” The Rolls-Royce headed east and finally stopped in front of the biggest aquarium in Ansport.

Isabella turned to Andrew, confused. “Aren’t we going to watch the sunset?”

Andrew smiled mysteriously. “We’ll save the sunset for next time. I want to explore this place with you today. You haven’t been here before, right?”

When she was little, Isabella had always been preoccupied with her studies. After being reunited with the Patton family, she never had the chance to visit this place. But she had never mentioned it to Andrew. How did he know?

Andrew didn’t give Isabella time to think. He took her hand and led her inside.

It wasn’t a weekend, so the aquarium shouldn’t have been crowded. However, Isabella felt a touch of surprise when she realized that the entire aquarium was empty. She glanced at Andrew, who smiled at her. In fact, he had reserved the entire place in advance, ensuring that all the exhibits and activities would be available just for them.

From the moment she stepped into the aquarium, the unique atmosphere drew Isabella in, and she felt a sense of calm and serenity wash over her.

Andrew followed closely behind her. As she marveled at the exhibits with curiosity, his dark eyes observed her with a mix of affection and concern.

He had seen her excel in every aspect of her life. She was a highly capable woman with vast assets under her name, and she was deeply committed to charity work. Yet, she often paused to admire the simple things that most ordinary people could easily enjoy. It was clear to Andrew that she lacked many of the simple pleasures others took for granted.

What Andrew didn’t realize was that this was also his first time at an aquarium. Every time he accompanied Isabella on her first experiences, he, too, was experiencing them for the first time.

Isabella and Andrew walked slowly, their pace leisurely, with no rush. Everyone here was at their service, and they had plenty of time to enjoy each other’s company.
