Susan remembered her recent agreement with Dane about working from home. Placing the schedule on her desk, she turned to Docie.

“The schedule looks fine, Docie. When you step out, please let the chief secretary know there will be a meeting with the department heads in an hour. I’ll be working from home starting today, so some arrangements need to be made. If you run into any issues, feel free to call me or visit me at home.”

“Miss Riggs, you’re working from home?”

Surprised, Docie instinctively glanced at Dane, who was nearby organizing some documents.

Susan looked at Dane and smiled. “We’ve already discussed it. Just let the chief secretary know.”

At Patton Group, Isabella was busy signing documents when Dane’s secretary called.

“Miss Patton, Mr. Patton just informed us that he won’t be able to come to the office today.

There’s an important meeting with the Klein Group and Faraway Group that requires in-person attendance. Are you available to handle it?”

Isabella raised an eyebrow, intrigued. Dane, the ultimate workaholic, had something so urgent that it kept him away from work? It had to be serious.

She told the secretary, “Send me the meeting time and project details.”

The secretary sounded relieved. “I’ll bring them over right away.”

By 3 PM, Isabella and Dane’s secretary arrived at an upscale club for the three-group meeting.

When Isabella entered the private room, the representatives from the other two groups were already seated.

Though typically composed, she froze for a moment at the sight of a familiar face. Andrew had come personally for the collaboration. Had she not come, would the three representatives have been at a standstill? Isabella reminded herself she was representing Dane and the Patton Group, firmly aligning with their position.

Calmly taking her seat, Isabella concealed her emotions, determined not to yield during the negotiations.

The three groups’ representatives sat in a triangular formation. Since the moment Isabella walked in, Andrew’s gaze had locked onto her, but she didn’t spare him a glance.

Andrew gently ran his fingers along the rim of his cup, listening intently to Isabella’s skilled negotiation. His fingers tapped rhythmically, as he wondered if she was intentionally ignoring him.

Andrew’s secretary, seated beside him, looked tense. In the business world, it was standard for the Patton Group and Faraway Group to clash fiercely, so why was Andrew holding back now?

After losing the latest round of negotiations, the secretary cast a pleading glance at Andrew—a look Isabella didn’t miss.

Isabella’s eyes moved from the secretary to Andrew.

Then, Andrew set his cup down and launched into a fresh round of negotiations.

This was Isabella’s first time directly opposing Andrew. As she listened to his precise analysis and confident tone, she felt the weight of the challenge. Yet, beneath the pressure, she found herself energized by the opportunity to face him.

After a grueling round of negotiations, Isabella lifted her cup and took a sip, savoring the sweet taste of victory. Both the Faraway Group and Andrew’s secretary couldn’t help but be impressed by her.

Isabella turned her gaze to Andrew, silently waiting to see if he would back down.

Her gaze inadvertently conveyed a challenge to Andrew, though she was unaware of it, while Andrew’s handsome face remained expressionless.

The CEO of the Faraway Group had already finalized his genuine offer and was now watching Isabella and Andrew as they competed against each other.

Just as Isabella expected Andrew to persist, he abruptly shifted from his pointed demeanor to one of unexpected submission. “Let’s draft the contract as Miss Patton suggested.”

Dane’s secretary felt a thrill, glancing at Isabella with admiration. He hadn’t expected Isabella to push the profits to the highest projected level. However, Isabella furrowed her brows as she looked over at Andrew.

At the negotiation table, the three parties sat clearly divided. Beneath the table, Andrew’s shoe gently grazed Isabella’s foot after his statement, a subtle yet undeniable gesture.

Andrew’s secretary, who had initially felt relieved that Andrew was in control and grateful that Andrew wasn’t distracted by Isabella this time, realized that Andrew still couldn’t outsmart Isabella.

This realization made the secretary lower his head in disappointment. But then, the secretary’s eyes widened, and his earlier disappointment disappeared, replaced by the scene before him.

Andrew, who had maintained a composed and dignified demeanor throughout the negotiations, was secretly flirting with Isabella under the table. Despite the fact that Isabella was set to be Andrew’s wife, the situation still felt strangely inappropriate.

The secretary dared not keep watching, hastily lifting his head to stare straight ahead, once again amazed by Andrew’s level of being lovestruck.

Beneath the table, Isabella dodged Andrew’s advances, but he remained relentless. Unable to make a scene, she shot him a subtle yet pointed glare.

Suddenly, Andrew’s secretary sat up straighter, his gaze more resolute than ever, causing Isabella to fall silent.

He had clearly noticed what Andrew was doing.

She stood and said, “I need to use the restroom.”

Isabella left the room, and shortly after, Andrew stood up as well. “I need to step out for a moment too.”

At the negotiation table, the teams were working hard on the contract. Originally, three CEOs had been present, but now only the CEO of Faraway Group remained, with the other two having left.

The CEO of Faraway Group frowned, then asked, “Isn’t there a restroom inside the room? Why did they both leave?”

Andrew’s secretary, the sole one privy to the situation, suddenly felt overwhelmed by the display of affection he had witnessed.

In the hallway outside the restroom, Isabella looked up to see Andrew casually leaning against the wall, watching her with a faint, knowing smile.

The indifference on his face had disappeared. Isabella’s eyes rose slightly as she walked past him, holding back a smile.

“Wait.” Just as Isabella was about to walk by, Andrew finally spoke. His tall frame moved closer, trapping her against the wall.

The scent of sandalwood surrounding him engulfed her, and with no escape, Isabella raised her hand to push against Andrew’s chest. Despite trying to stay composed, she couldn’t stop herself from smiling as she teased, “What do you want?”

Andrew briefly glanced down at Isabella’s hands before raising his gaze to meet the playful spark in her eyes. His expression immediately turned intense, a flicker of displeasure crossing his face.

“I haven’t even touched you. It’s clearly you who want to do something to me. How could you act like you didn’t know me earlier in that room?”

As Andrew recalled how Isabella had ignored him twice, his voice carried a hint of resentment.

Isabella chuckled, withdrawing her hands from his chest and wrapping them around his waist. “Business is like a battlefield, darling. Even couples have to clash at times. With the CEO of Faraway Group present, we both had to fight for our own piece of the pie.”

“But you can’t pretend you don’t know me,” Andrew said, still displeased.

Isabella playfully poked his back with her finger. “My dear, everyone in the city knows about our engagement. Every single person in that room knows about us. Do I really need to say it?”

Andrew remained unfazed, simply responding, “If you don’t say it, they’ll only know we’re engaged, not that we’re deeply in love.” Andrew stressed the word “deeply,” and Isabella blinked, unexpectedly swayed by his words.

She thought back to the distant, aloof Andrew she once knew, wondering how he had become so unexpectedly childish.

Isabella tilted her head, her eyes narrowing with suspicion as she asked, “So, you want everyone to see just how deeply in love we are? Are you serious about this?”

“Yes,” Andrew answered without a moment’s hesitation.

“Then don’t regret it later,” Isabella said, her lips curling into a knowing smile.

Back in the room, the tripartite contract lay prepared, awaiting only signatures and seals.

The door swung open, and Isabella and Andrew entered in turn, smoothly reclaiming their seats.

The CEO of Faraway Group chuckled, turning to them with a mischievous gleam in his eye. “What took you two so long?”

Isabella offered a silent smile.

The CEO of Faraway Group shifted his gaze to Andrew, spotting a vivid lipstick stain on his shirt collar. “Mr. Klein, you seem to have a…”

His words trailed off as he suddenly realized something. His eyes darted between the lipstick stain and Isabella’s lips, noticing the colors matched perfectly. Everyone who heard his words turned their attention to Andrew, then to Isabella, falling silent.

An absolute silence settled over the room. Maintaining a neutral expression, Isabella silently regretted indulging in Andrew’s prank. Andrew remained composed, addressing the CEO of Faraway Group in an unexpectedly gentle tone. “Hmm? Mr. Morris, is something wrong?”

Hobson Morris froze awkwardly before shaking his head and saying, “Oh, no, it’s nothing. I was just wondering if you and Miss Patton would like to join me for dinner later.” He swiftly changed the subject.

Andrew offered a faint smile. “Thank you for the invite, Mr. Morris, but Miss Patton and I have some matters to attend to at home. Perhaps another time.”
