Recovering quickly, she replied, “Before partnering with Miss Grey, I thoroughly researched Orly Company. Mr. Patton, I understand your desire to protect your uncle’s company, but just because there are only a few similar brands here in Lorpond—and your company was established earlier—it doesn’t mean you can throw around baseless accusations of plagiarism.”

Waylon hadn’t anticipated such an outlandish declaration. He cast a sharp glance at Ailyn and let out a derisive, almost mocking laugh.

“Miss Vettel, if you can’t tell the difference between plagiarism and originality, then there’s really nothing left for me to say. If you’re so desperate to buy the office building, go right ahead. Let’s see who can actually get it!”

Ailyn had never been so humiliated in public. First, it was that woman from Lorpond, and now it was Waylon. Her eyes burned with restrained fury, but she refused to let it crack her composure.

Both she and Waylon had wealth to spare—spending a fortune on a building wouldn’t bring her any satisfaction, even if she won.

If they were going to compete, it had to be over something far more meaningful.

Ailyn’s gaze flickered as she recalled Waylon addressing Luka as “uncle” and accusing the Orly Company of plagiarism. A perfect idea began to form in her mind.

“What’s so special about an office building, Mr. Patton, and Mr. Calderon? You pride yourselves on being original, while Orly stands accused of copying. Why don’t we settle this with a contest? Let’s see whose show—Timeless Elegance’s or Orly’s—achieves greater success.”

Her words dripped with arrogance, her eyes glinting with confidence.

“If the works you call plagiarized can’t surpass your so-called originality, then staying here would be utterly ridiculous. But if your originality fails against the Orly collection you’ve slandered, you must publicly admit that Orly did not plagiarize. As for the company location, the winner keeps it, and the loser packs up and moves out. So, do you dare to bet?”

Waylon and Luka both frowned, startled by Ailyn’s suggestion. But after considering the long-standing grievances, Luka spoke up, his tone resolute.

“Timeless Elegance is more than willing to bet. The question is—can Orly Company match that courage?”

Ailyn turned her gaze toward Lina.

Lina clenched her teeth, then stepped forward with determined resolve.

“We’ll bet. After all, Orly Company hasn’t plagiarized anything!”

“Heh, bold words,” Luka scoffed, though he refrained from dredging up Lina’s unsavory history, which was far too lengthy to recount in one breath.

Having achieved her goal, Ailyn ignored the tense exchange and moved the discussion forward.

“Well, now that the bet is settled, Miss Grey, let’s proceed with the tour. The truth will reveal itself when the shows conclude.”

Lina nodded, noticing that Ailyn’s disdain for Waylon and Luka was barely concealed. She knew the so-called “bet” was a trap—one meant to lure them in.

She was determined to win. Orly Company’s reputation would be restored, and Timeless Elegance’s pride would be shattered. Just the thought of such a triumphant outcome filled her with satisfaction.

A successful show wouldn’t just redeem Orly Company’s name—it would expand the company’s influence, erase the stain of plagiarism, and firmly push Timeless Elegance from its throne. The benefits were far too great to resist.

Lina’s attitude toward Ailyn grew more deferential.

“Miss Vettel, I’ve prepared everything you requested. Please, feel free to make any changes or suggestions.”

Ailyn gave a curt nod. In truth, she hadn’t initially cared much for this collaboration. She had planned to simply go through the motions. But now? Now that a bet had been made against people she despised, she was determined to crush them.

As Ailyn and Lina toured the facility, Waylon silently kicked himself for not stopping his uncle sooner. He believed in Timeless Elegance’s garments, but the company hadn’t held a major show in years.

If anything went wrong, generations of hard work from the Calderon family would be ruined by sheer impulsiveness—and that was something Waylon simply couldn’t accept.

Waylon paced anxiously across the office, while Luka sat upright on the sofa, exuding calm as he offered words of reassurance.

“Don’t worry. I know what I’m doing. Since we’ve accepted the bet, just focus on the show.”

Waylon scratched his head, still worried.

“I understand, Uncle. I’ll do my best.”

Leaving Timeless Elegance, Waylon headed for Patton Group.

“Isabella, what do we do now? Timeless Elegance is really going up against Orly Company. Uncle Luka and Marcus are both talented, but Lina’s poached so many designers over the years, and Ailyn is as cunning as they come. I’m genuinely worried.”

He laid out the entire situation, looking to Isabella with hope, as if her clever mind could offer the miracle they needed.

Isabella listened intently, then gave Waylon an unreadable look. “Wait, Waylon. Did you really go to Timeless Elegance to sign the contract with Uncle Luka?”

Waylon nodded earnestly. “Yeah, I did.”

Isabella raised an eyebrow. “Did you even check out the outfits Uncle Luka’s showcasing this time?”

Waylon paused mid-thought. “I… I didn’t get the chance. The bet happened so suddenly, and I was too worried. I signed the contract and came straight here.”

A small smile of understanding crossed Isabella’s face.

“What do you mean by that smile, Isabella?” Waylon asked, puzzled by her reaction.

Isabella replied, “Waylon, Uncle Luka isn’t the impulsive type. If he dared to accept the bet, then he must be absolutely confident that he can win.”

Waylon quickly blurted, “I trust Uncle Luka, but what if something unexpected happens?”

“There won’t be any ‘what ifs,'” Isabella replied firmly.

She realized it was futile to argue further, so she simply pulled up the document Marcus had sent on her tablet. “See for yourself.”

She handed Waylon the tablet. Waylon snatched it up, scanned it briefly, and shot to his feet, eyes wide.

“Are these the garments Uncle Luka’s team and Marcus designed for the fashion show?”

Isabella’s lips curled into a satisfied smile. “Yes. So, what do you think, Waylon?”

Waylon, who had navigated the treacherous modeling world on his own, had come far, his skills now polished to a gleaming edge.

One look was enough; his instincts told him Timeless Elegance’s fashion show would be nothing short of a triumph. Waylon had seen countless designs since he was young, and his eye for aesthetics was highly revered. Impressive work was hard to come by, but these designs had him hooked.

A spark of excitement flickered across his face as he dropped back onto the sofa. Isabella handed him a glass of water.

“Not worried anymore, are you?”

“Not worried at all.” Waylon met his sister’s steady gaze and, for a brief moment, recalled his earlier unease. Embarrassed, he took a slow sip of water.

Isabella was so thoroughly invested in the Timeless Elegance show that he had no doubt she would keep a close eye on every outfit destined for the runway. It perfectly explained her unshakable calm after hearing about the bet. Waylon had been too wound up, but thankfully, his sister was there.

They hadn’t shared a proper face-to-face conversation in what felt like an eternity. Isabella asked about his career, his life—catching up in that easy, familial way. When the clock struck five, the siblings exchanged warm goodbyes.

The next day, Isabella planned to go to Edge Entertainment, intent on checking the progress of Milly’s and the others’ model training.

The practice room buzzed with focused energy—artists trained rigorously under a watchful instructor, their motivation evident in every stride and pose. Observing their efforts, Isabella nodded approvingly, fully satisfied.

Everything was unfolding smoothly when a news post from Orly Company appeared on a foreign social media platform. Ailyn had revised her designs, refusing to let Lorpond models wear her creations for the upcoming show.

Instead, she leveraged her connections to bring in top-tier international supermodels and promoted both Orly Company and Global Entertainment on her personal social media. Ailyn’s latest post featured a photograph with Lina and Tatiana.

At first, Isabella hadn’t given the photo much thought, but when her eyes landed on Ailyn, curiosity got the better of her, and she instinctively tapped to enlarge the photo.

The global fashion icon, Ailyn Vettel, was known to Isabella by reputation alone. They’d never crossed paths in person. Or so she thought. One glance at the woman in the picture and the memory came rushing back. Their previous encounter had been far from cordial.

To her surprise, the opponent her uncle faced this time was none other than the woman who had gotten into a car accident with her.

The assistant interrupted her reverie with a steaming cup of coffee, catching sight of the photo on Isabella’s phone. “Miss Patton, I saw this too.”

“Ailyn is partnering with Global Entertainment and Orly Company to host a show in Lorpond.”

Isabella casually engaged in conversation as she scrolled through the comments on Ailyn’s promotional post. In the comments section, numerous people inquired about the Orly brand, and those who got responses eagerly expressed their excitement for the upcoming show.

It was undeniably a strategic promotional move. Yet, the assistant beside Isabella couldn’t help but purse her lips in doubt.

“I don’t think their show is going to succeed.”
