“‘What’s going on?” Isabella asked with fake concern.

“I feel awful,” Jada said, covering her face with her hands before lowering them, holding back the tears that threatened to fall.

“‘Jada, what’s the matter?” Isabella asked, her worry seeming to grow.

“‘Susan passed the Natural assessment and then humiliated me at work. I can’t take it anymore… But I can’t just walk away; it’s my parents’ company.”

“‘Why do you say it’s your parents’ company?” Isabella asked in disbelief.

“‘Maybe you’re not aware, but my parents fell in love with each other even before he married Susan’s mother. Back when they were together, my mother used to give my father a lot of advice, even though she didn’t come from a wealthy and influential family. When they were about to get married, Susan’s mom tricked my dad into sleeping with her. He is a responsible man, so he had to marry her…” Jada’s eyes were red.

Anyone hearing this would feel deep sympathy for her. In contrast, they’d think Susan was a villain.

“Jada, don’t stress. I let her pass the assessment on purpose,” Isabella said calmly.

Jada stared at her, her jaw dropped in shock.

“‘Jada, think about it. Even if she didn’t pass the assessment now, the most that would happen is she’d get mocked. But later, she could easily bounce back by working with other companies. That wouldn’t solve the main issue, right?” Isabella explained with a smile.

Jada mulled over Isabella’s words, and a sudden thought struck her. “Did you let Susan pass the assessment deliberately, only to set her up later? Like, if you sell her perfume to a foreign company and then accuse her of plagiarism, she’d be hit with a massive lawsuit. At that point, she’d be in serious trouble!” Isabella was taken aback, realizing that Jada was much sharper than Kristine and Courtney. Immediately after hearing what she said, Jada devised a way to set up Susan, leaving Isabella to simply follow along without needing to come up with ideas herself.

Isabella agreed. “Exactly. Besides, Susan’s perfume will be inferior to yours, and people will look down on her even more. This will be your first real competition, after all!”

“You’re amazing, Isabella.” Jada’s eyes sparkled with envy. It seemed Isabella was ruthless. “Thank you, Isabella. But you should sell Susan’s perfume quickly and have the buyer produce and market it fast. If their perfume hits the market before your new products, everyone will assume Susan has plagiarized.”

“Yes, that’s a good idea. But I don’t have any contacts in the industry,” Isabella said, looking troubled.

“‘Don’t worry. I know someone who can help. Just give me the perfume,” Jada offered with a smile.

“‘Alright, you’re brilliant!” Isabella smiled back. They had a pleasant conversation. Jada covered the bill for the meal, and then they went their separate ways.

After getting into her car, Jada received a call from Dora. She narrowed her eyes, instantly understanding why Dora was calling her.

She picked up the phone, and as anticipated, Dora’s voice came through in tears. “Jada, we’re counting on you. Since we can’t seem to persuade Andrew, Corbett is stuck in the police station. You’re important to Andrew, Jada. Please, we need your help!”

Jada sighed. “I do feel sorry for Corbett, and I’ve tried to persuade Andrew, but he won’t even talk to me about it. This situation is too serious, and even I can’t influence him.”

In reality, she had never mentioned Corbett to Andrew. Both Andrew and Damari despised Corbett now. Bringing Corbett up would likely irritate them.

“What are we going to do? Is Corbett really going to prison?” Dora cried so intensely that she nearly fainted. Jada suggested, “You should speak with Isabella. She has a strong relationship with Andrew.”

“‘That woman won’t stand up for Dora,” Dora gritted her teeth in frustration and said bitterly. “Jada, I’m really at my wit’s end here. You’ve saved Andrew in the past, right? I’m sure if you ask him, he’ll agree to let Corbett go. Could you talk to him and see if he will agree?”

An idea struck Jada. “I think I have a solution that might help you.”

“What’s it?” Dora asked eagerly.

“‘Right now, I’m not the one who Andrew cares about; it’s Isabella. If you were to kidnap her and use her as leverage, he’d definitely agree to let Corbett go,” Jada suggested.

“Are you sure? That could work, but we don’t even know where to find Isabella.”

“I’ll let you know where she is.”

Dora, seeing this plan might work, agreed. Jada then ended the call and glanced at her reflection in the window; a satisfied smile slowly spread across her face. “Jada, you’re so ruthless,” she muttered to herself. But how else could she climb to the top of the wealthy elite without being that way?

To her, everyone was just a stepping stone on her path to success.

Isabella walked back since her villa was nearby. After spending so much time in the office, she found that walking was beneficial for her health.

The night air was a bit chilly, and the streets were relatively deserted. Suddenly, she felt an unsettling chill. She glanced behind, only to find her mouth covered immediately.

Before she could even react, she lost consciousness.

When Isabella woke up, she found herself in a vast warehouse that smelled of decay and looked as if it had been abandoned for years.

She tried to move, only to realize that her wrists were bound tightly to a pillar.

A fleeting look of cold determination crossed her face. She had been kidnapped, but who could have done this, and why?

While Isabella was pondering this, the door creaked open, and Dora, flanked by several bodyguards, entered. Isabella gave a sneer. “Ah, it’s you, Dora. We don’t have any ill will towards each other, do we?”

Dora looked down at her, her eyes red and puffy. “I brought you here because I need to beg you for help.”

Isabella glanced at the chains binding her wrists and replied, “Beg me while I’m bound?”

“I’m out of options, Isabella. Corbett is facing jail time, and you’re my last hope. Andrew listens only to you now. If you refuse, I’ll have to watch my only son go to prison.” Dora’s eyes grew redder with each word.

“He’s your son, not mine!” Isabella retorted with a sneer. “So what’s it to me?”

“Help me, and I’ll meet your demands,” Dora said, her eyes flashing with cold resolve. “If you refuse, I’d rather join Corbett—even if it means you dying here first.”

That was a clear threat.

Isabella checked her pocket and, as expected, found her phone was missing.

“‘Alright, can you promise to give me anything I request? I want all of your assets,” Isabella demanded.

“Sure thing.” Dora agreed eagerly, focused on saving her son. “I’ll arrange that. I’m calling Andrew now, and you can speak with him.”

“Fine.” Isabella consented.

With Isabella’s compliance, Dora’s mood lifted. She pulled out her phone and dialed Andrew. After a brief wait, he answered the call. “It’s me,” Dora said.

“I have nothing to discuss,” Andrew responded. Just as he was about to end the call, Dora asked, “Aren’t you interested in who else is here?”

Her question immediately caught his attention.

“‘Andrew, don’t listen to her. She’s trying to use me to force you into forgiving Corbett. Even though she kidnapped me and brought me to this old warehouse, I won’t give in!” Isabella shouted.

Andrew’s face shifted abruptly. “You’re insane, Dora!”

“I’m not insane! Andrew, if you don’t release my son, I’ll kill Isabella. Corbett is my only son, and no one else cares about him. As his mother, it’s up to me to save him!” Dora snapped. Her eyes reflected the madness of a mother driven to extremes for her child.

Andrew scoffed. “You’ve had plenty of opportunities to save your son. Corbett has harmed me repeatedly. You could have stopped him and corrected his behavior each time, but you didn’t because you were hoping he would become the heir to the Klein Group. Even when he resorted to dirty tactics, you supported him. Now you both reap what you’ve sown!”

Dora was infuriated by these words. It was true that she had seen many things Corbett had done over the years. If Corbett killed someone, Dora wouldn’t think he was wrong. They were from the Klein family, and to her, those victims were just people, not worth her concern. However, retribution eventually came, and Dora found herself unable to bear the consequences.

“Cut the crap—will you save Isabella or not? I’ll give you ten minutes to decide. After that, I’ll kill her!” Dora’s craziness was evident.

“Don’t worry about me!” Isabella yelled. “If Corbett is set free, he will definitely come after you. You cannot let him go, and you must not forgive him. I’ve found happiness with a real family and have no regrets even if I die. Also, Andrew, remember to drive safely on your way home; it’s a remote area.”

“Be quiet!” Dora shouted as she slapped Isabella across the face.

A red palm print suddenly appeared on her beautiful face. She stared coldly at Dora, her gaze so intense that Dora immediately felt a chill run down her spine. How could Isabella exude such a powerful presence? For a moment, Dora almost believed she was staring at Andrew himself.

“‘Andrew, will you agree or not? If you refuse, you’ll have to deal with Isabella’s fate.”

The sound of the slap was clearly audible over the phone. Andrew’s normally calm demeanor turned dark and menacing, and his voice grew colder. “Alright, I agree, but it will take me some time to get to the police station.”

“Fifteen minutes, no more! If I don’t get a call from Corbett within fifteen minutes, I’ll kill Isabella!” Dora snapped.

“Understood.”

After the call ended, Andrew’s assistant, who had been present, wished he had never shown up. The situation was terrifying—Dora had actually kidnapped Isabella.

With his dark, menacing expression, Andrew looked as though he had emerged straight from the depths of hell.

Andrew’s assistant believed Dora was doomed this time. But he was confused about something. “BOSS, why did Miss Patton tell you to drive safely on your way home, which was in a remote area? Isn’t your home in the city center?”
