“It’s absurd. It’s Isabella’s room in the first place, and Teresa acts like she’s being magnanimous by not pursuing it. It’s utterly ridiculous.”

“Absolutely, it’s hilarious.”

Teresa overheard their comments and nearly twisted her ankle in frustration.

Throughout the day, everyone had a blast exploring the manor. Isabella, accompanied by Emeline and other colleagues, engaged in various activities. Then, a message from Dane popped up on her phone.

“Want to hang out together?”

Isabella replied, “No, I’m with my colleagues.”

Dane had to let it go. “Alright then. How about joining us for dinner tonight?”

Isabella replied, “We’ll see.”

She and her colleagues headed toward the stables. There, someone was already out riding a horse. Emeline, full of enthusiasm, asked, “Do you want to give horseback riding a try?”

“Absolutely!” Annis exclaimed, excitement bubbling over.

Isabella joined them in picking out horses. Unexpectedly, Teresa and her group walked over.

Liza nudged Teresa. “Teresa, can we join your brother for dinner tonight? Are you having dinner with him?”

“He might be meeting with clients. I shouldn’t disturb them,” Teresa replied dismissively.

“But today’s supposed to be a day off. Any clients today would likely be more informal contacts,” Liza argued. “I heard he’s staying in the main villa right next to ours. It must be incredible, and the dinner exceptional.”

Teresa’s irritation grew. Damn it, if she could go, she certainly would have. The truth was, she didn’t have the influence to join such gatherings.

“Since I’m here with you guys, I’ll have dinner with you,” Teresa said, trying to appear accommodating.

“We could all go with you to meet Mr. Patton,” Liza suggested eagerly.

The others joined in, curiosity lighting up their faces. “I’ve never seen him up close. Teresa, aren’t we your friends? Can’t we come?”

“Yeah, dining with him would be a dream come true,” they chimed in.

Feeling cornered, Teresa noticed Isabella selecting a horse and sauntered over with a raised eyebrow. “Oh, Isabella, you want to try horseback riding? Be careful. Try not to fall!”

Her intent was merely to taunt Isabella, but Liza chimed in, “Is horseback riding really suitable for someone like you? Isabella, you should dismount before you make a fool of yourself! Horse riding suits Teresa better.”

“If you’re looking for something to do, why not go shovel manure at the village entrance?” Isabella responded without a trace of emotion, incredulous at their audacity.

Feeling insulted, Liza retorted sharply, “I’m just stating facts. Did that upset you? It seems you still fail to recognize the difference in class between you and Teresa. Would you dare to challenge Teresa in horseback riding?”

Teresa was taken aback. When had she ever suggested she wanted to compete with Isabella? Fortunately, she had tried horseback riding before.

Noticing Isabella’s hesitation in choosing a horse, Teresa smirked slightly. A competition didn’t seem so far-fetched after all. “Isabella, are you up for a challenge?” Teresa asked, a gleam in her eye.

Isabella recognized the setup but was amused by their boldness. How many times had these people been outmatched by her? Yet, they still dared to stir up trouble.

Isabella answered, “Why wouldn’t I? But a mere race sounds boring.”

Teresa raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “Are you proposing a bet?”

Isabella replied calmly, “If you lose, you confess every lie you’ve told others. How does that sound?”

Isabella curled her lips into a faint smile, her sharp gaze fixed on Teresa, causing Teresa to shudder. Everyone around turned their eyes to Teresa, wondering what she might have lied about. A cold sweat formed on Teresa’s forehead as she quickly retorted, “Alright, but if you lose, you have to kneel and acknowledge that you’re no match for me!”

“Agreed,” Isabella responded coolly.

They moved on to choose their horses. Teresa picked a gentle horse, while Isabella selected a spirited red stallion that seemed quite challenging.

Teresa smirked and warned, “Isabella, don’t say I didn’t warn you—that horse isn’t easy to handle. You might get thrown off.”

“Just start the race. How many laps are we running?” Isabella asked.

“We’ll do two laps around the estate,” Teresa answered.

“Sounds good.”

Their impending race attracted a huge audience. As Teresa and Isabella lined up at the starting line, the red horse appeared noticeably agitated.

“Can Isabella manage that? That horse looks wild. It might be too much for her to control. Teresa’s choice seems much more sensible.”

“Exactly. Teresa knows her way around a horse, but Isabella? I’m not convinced. No seasoned rider would pick that horse.”

“I’ve heard that horse belongs to the owner of the estate! He’s the only one who’s been able to ride it—nobody else has succeeded.”

Compassion for Isabella grew among the spectators. “Three, two, one, go!”

The moment the countdown finished, Teresa cracked her whip, and her horse bolted forward. Isabella, however, stayed put, casually holding the reins of her red horse. The crowd chuckled at the sight.

The outcome seemed obvious.

“Isabella, maybe you should change horses! That one doesn’t seem to want to cooperate with you!”

The red horse sauntered slowly, clearly aware of the race but indifferent to competing. Isabella appeared unfazed and simply let the horse do as it pleased. Eventually, the horse wandered over to graze.

Amused, Isabella said, “Hungry, huh?” The red horse couldn’t be bothered to respond, its stubbornness evident.

As it ate, it sensed a familiar presence in the distance. Lifting its head, it noticed a man watching from afar. A feeling of foreboding washed over the horse. Though its owner was far off, the horse could feel his intimidating presence, as if he were asking, “Still eating?”

The red horse hesitated but reluctantly started to run. By then, Teresa was already making significant progress on the track.

Not far from the contest, Andrew and Dane watched. Dane turned to Andrew and asked, “Are they racing now?”

“It appears so.”

“The horse Isabella picked… Is it yours?” Dane inquired.

Andrew nodded. “Yes, it is.”

“It seems like Isabella made a poor choice. That horse is known for being tough to handle,” Dane observed, squinting slightly as he pondered what might happen if Isabella were to lose.

But Andrew replied, “That may not be entirely the case.”

As Teresa completed her first lap, she saw Isabella still struggling and couldn’t resist taunting her. “Isabella, is that the best you can do? Maybe we should end this now!” Teresa was aware she wasn’t particularly skilled herself but hadn’t expected Isabella to perform so poorly!

Thinking Isabella had no riding skills yet dared to challenge her seemed utterly ridiculous.

“The race isn’t finished yet,” Isabella retorted, glancing at Teresa.

Teresa scoffed, thinking, Keep dreaming!

The onlookers chuckled at the exchange.

Liza sneered, “Isabella is really stubborn, isn’t she?”

“Absolutely, she’s bound to lose. Teresa’s already a lap ahead.”

“Isabella might as well quit now and save us all some time.”

Amidst the sneers, Isabella remained composed. Teresa picked up speed again. Then suddenly, a strong gust of wind swept past her.

Teresa glanced up and caught a glimpse of red darting by, disappearing with the wind. For a moment, she thought she might be seeing things. She rubbed her eyes and looked again—where was Isabella?

Could that have really been Isabella who just zoomed past? Teresa was completely stunned. How could she be so fast?
