Isabella blinked, caught off guard by the news.

“We have several branches,” Kristine continued. “Real estate, pharmaceuticals, even a skincare company. Since you’re a woman, maybe the skincare company would suit you best. I’m sure our parents will assign a good manager to assist you.”

“I’ll think about it,” Isabella replied.

With a satisfied nod, Kristine turned and walked away, leaving Susan glaring after her.

“I don’t trust her,” Susan hissed. “Why would she suggest the skincare company? There’s probably something wrong with it!”

“Let’s find out,” Isabella said, pulling out her phone. After a quick search, they discovered that the Patton Group’s skincare division was struggling. It was a small branch that had faced early challenges and hadn’t grown much over the years.

“That sneaky… She knows the company is failing! She’s trying to set you up to fail,” Susan said, her voice tense. “You should talk to your parents. Kristine’s clearly planning something.”

But Isabella merely smiled, her eyes sharp with determination. “There’s no need. If she wants to play games, I’m ready. Let’s see who wins.”

Later, during breakfast, Glenn brought up the topic. “Isabella, have you decided which company you’d like to take over?”

Kristine, though seemingly focused on her food, listened intently, eager to see if Isabella would fall into her trap.

“I’m interested in the skincare company,” Isabella replied smoothly.

Kristine suppressed a smirk, while Josie, seated nearby, couldn’t help but let a smug smile creep onto her face. Isabella had taken the bait. They were sure she would fail.

“Are you sure?” Glenn asked, frowning. He barely remembered that the skincare company existed.

Dane, ever the protective brother, chimed in, “Isabella, that company has faced quite a few challenges. Maybe you’d prefer something more stable, like the gaming or jewelry division?”

But Isabella stood firm. “I’ll stick with the skincare company.”

Kristine seized the opportunity, her voice bright and supportive. “Dad, girls love skincare products. It’s a natural choice for Isabella. We should honor her decision.”

After a brief pause, Glenn nodded. “Alright, Isabella. I’ll arrange for a capable manager to assist you.”

But Isabella shook her head. “No need, Dad. I’d like to manage it on my own.”

Glenn looked like he wanted to protest, but seeing the determination in her eyes, he relented. “Very well.”

Kristine’s smugness was barely contained. Naive girl. Running a company was far more complex than Isabella seemed to realize. When the skincare branch inevitably failed, Kristine planned to make sure everyone knew that the real Miss Patton wasn’t up to the challenge.

After breakfast, Susan left for work, while Dane offered to take Isabella to the skincare company. Throughout the drive, he kept warning her about its small size and troubled history.

Isabella wasn’t discouraged. She had already accepted that the company was a minor branch.

When they arrived at a towering building, Isabella looked out the window. “Which part of this is the skincare division?”

Dane pointed. “The bottom half of the building.”

Isabella stepped out of the car, her eyes scanning the sleek building with a sense of quiet resolve. She wasn’t just going to take over the company. She was going to turn it around, no matter what it took.

Was this really considered a “small” enterprise? The towering office building alone, with its sleek architecture and high-end design, was evidence of the company’s wealth. The rent must have been astronomical, yet for the Patton family, such expenses were trivial.

“Let’s head inside,” Dane said casually as he parked the car. He led Isabella through the lobby, their presence causing a ripple of curiosity among the employees.

“Is that Mr. Dane Patton? The president of the entire Patton Group?” whispered one employee, eyes wide with awe.

“Is he here to take over this branch? I heard we might be seeing some big changes around here,” another added, especially catching the attention of the women.

“Who’s that with him? His girlfriend?”

“No way! Mr. Patton doesn’t have a girlfriend. He’s too focused on work. But maybe she’s one of those rich heiresses after him.”

Ignoring the whispers, Dane led Isabella into the president’s office. The previous manager had been dismissed the day before due to poor performance, and no one had protested the decision.

Soon after they arrived, a woman in a sharp white suit entered the room. Her presence was commanding, her features refined—though noticeably enhanced by cosmetic procedures. This was Mina Atkins, the vice president.

Her gaze lingered on Dane as she greeted him with a bright, almost possessive smile. “Mr. Patton, are we having a meeting? You didn’t mention you’d be coming.”

Mina had heard rumors of a leadership change, but she hadn’t expected Dane to personally oversee the transition. The company must be gaining new importance within the group, she thought, barely acknowledging Isabella’s presence.

“Yes, we’re about to hold a meeting. Please gather everyone in the conference room,” Dane replied, all business.

Mina nodded briskly and left to make the arrangements. As soon as she was gone, Isabella began looking over the documents on the desk, but before she could get too far, Dane received a call. “I’ll be right back,” he said, stepping outside.

Moments later, Mina returned, clearly expecting to find Dane. Instead, she saw only Isabella, who was focused on the paperwork.

“Did you notify everyone already?” Isabella asked, not looking up from the files.

Mina’s eyes narrowed. Who is this girl? She hadn’t noticed her before, but now she took in her youthful appearance and refined beauty, and irritation flickered in her mind. Another pretty face trying to get ahead through Dane?

“Yes,” Mina said curtly, her tone tinged with disdain. “Where’s Mr. Patton?”

“He stepped out to take a call. You can discuss anything with me,” Isabella replied confidently.

Mina’s lips curled into a sneer. “Excuse me? And who exactly are you?”

Isabella looked up, her brows furrowed. “Is there a problem?”

Mina laughed, incredulous. “Let me guess—you’re one of Mr. Patton’ suitors, thinking you can charm your way up the ladder?”

Isabella was taken aback by the audacity, but she remained composed.

“I suggest you not waste your time,” Mina continued, dismissing her with a wave. “Mr. Patton only cares about his work.”

Choosing to ignore the baseless assumptions, Isabella turned her attention back to the documents. But Mina wasn’t done. She marched over and yanked the papers from Isabella’s hands.

“These are confidential documents! What do you think you’re doing?”

Isabella’s patience was wearing thin. “Give them back,” she demanded, her tone firm.

Mina’s eyes flashed with arrogance. “What are you going to do about it? You’re just a pretty girl trying to cozy up to Mr. Patton. You have no right to be here.”

Before Isabella could respond, the door opened, and Dane walked back in.

“What’s going on?” His voice was sharp, eyes shifting from Isabella’s composed yet irritated stance to Mina’s haughty demeanor.

Mina quickly softened her tone. “Mr. Patton, I’ve gathered everyone in the conference room. Shall we begin?”

Without missing a beat, Isabella stood and said calmly, “Let’s go.”

Dane nodded in agreement, and they headed to the conference room together. Mina trailed behind, her earlier confidence shaken.

Inside the conference room, employees murmured amongst themselves as they eyed Dane. His presence immediately commanded attention.

“Mr. Patton is even more handsome in person!”

“If he’s going to be the new president, I’ll definitely enjoy coming to work.”

“Focus! We’re here for the meeting!” someone scolded, restoring some semblance of professionalism.

Dane stepped up to the podium, and the room fell silent. His presence alone demanded respect. “For too long, this branch has been overlooked. Starting today, that ends. We are committed to revitalizing this company and making it thrive.”

The applause that followed was started by Mina, eager to impress Dane, and quickly spread throughout the room.

“And now,” Dane continued, “I’d like to introduce your new president—Isabella Patton.”

Stunned silence settled over the crowd.

Mina’s eyes widened in disbelief. This woman?
