“I am” she says with a little sniffle, “I know it will take some getting used to, dad being gone, but he always taught me to believe in the moon goddess. He died to protect us and to help our future, of that I’m certain.’
“He did” Nova agrees as they hold one another tightly. “We can make him proud Sophie. You must remember he loved us dearly, you especially kept him going when times were tough. Keep your head high, for him.”
“I will” Sophie promises as Luca looks at his mate proudly.
“How is the pack?” I ask her quietly.
“Suffering the loss of a great leader, but prepared to keep working hard in his memory” she says making me relax slightly. “I’m proud of them all.”
“As am i” Nova says.
“There you guys are” I hear Alex exclaim making us whirl round to see him with Elder Martin. “It’s time for that meeting” is all he says before turning and briskly walking away leaving us no room to object. Seeing elder Martin look at me expressionlessly for a moment I furrow my brows before shaking it off as we all follow after then quietly.
Walking in I see Ophelia sat there already along with Axton and Laurence.
“Luna it’s brilliant news about your wolf” Nova says softly sitting beside her. The smile that spreads across Ophelia’s face says it all.
“I’m over the moon” she whispers as Alex kisses her forehead lovingly.
“What’s this about?” I link Laurence as he looks at me and simply shrugs.
“Beats me boss” is all he says as Alex takes a seat and leans forward gathering everyone’s attention.
“So l’ve gathered you all here for a reason, well a couple actually” he begins as we all listen intently. “First of all, after the loss of Kingsley it leaves the leadership of the Rogue Pack in debate. There are a couple of options, one being that the other packs absolve the members, take them in as their own. However with the history of the rogue pack I don’t believe that is the best option for now, I believe what Kingsley was working on and what he had achieved in his time as the Rogue King was admirable and inspirational.
I’ve proposed another option to Elder Martin and I have his support.”
Looking around he sees we are all listening to him with no objections so far so he nods and continues, “Sophie.you know how your father ran the pack. You also, I imagine, want to do your father proud. My idea was to change the name of the Rogue Pack, make it one officially known to the council but ensuring that it doesn’t take away everything it does to help new wanderers as Kingsley called them. The people I believe should run that pack are Luca and Sophie.”
With that Luca gasps as Sophie silently covers her mouth in shock. “W. what? But I’m just a Beta?” Luca exclaims.
“Kingsley was not of Alpha Blood, yes he was a Guardian Wolf but it doesn’t mean his successor has to have Alpha blood within him. I’ve seen the way you conduct yourself Luca, you’re an honourable man who is fiercely loyal and hardworking for his pack and others. Not only that but your mate already understands the way the pack is run and the members I have spoken to hold her in high esteem. You have a lot of potential, the both of you” Alex replies.
“But I’m Axtons Beta” Luca says quietly.
“I gave the idea my support Luca” Axton says clearly, “he’s right. You are an excellent Beta but I believe you could be so much more than that.”
“I want to reiterate that just because the pack could be renamed or even recognised as an official pack by the council it doesn’t mean it will be run any differently. If you see changes that you think will benefit them if you take on the leadership then by all means go for it, but what Kingsley has done with the oath and the system he organised is simply brilliant. I trust you both could continue his hard work” Alex says. Looking at Nova she’s perched on the edge of her chair, happiness clear as day across her face as she looks between the couple.
“Go for it” she urges them.
“You think I’ll be a good leader?” Luca asks her quietly.
“I know you will be” she says without hesitation.
After a few moments of mind linking they look up with large smiles. “Ok then” Sophie says with a large smile.
“But” Luca interjects, “I’d like to see what the pack thinks to it first. If they’re willing then so am I.”
“Great” Alex says with a large grin. “We can discuss it more later anyway. The second point i’d like to talk about is something my Luna and I have been debating for the last year. I believe my time as the alpha King is coming to an end, l’ve had my fair share of battles, responsibility and loss. As some of you know, but others don’t, I have lost my entire family during my reign, all killed by vampires. The only one I love that is still with me is Ophelia, and we wish more than anything to start a family. However to do that we would have to adopt and we believe that doing it away from the pressure of being Alpha King is more suitable..for us” he explains.
“I can’t have children” Ophelia says quietly as Nova squeezes her hand comfortingly as if she already knew.
“She probably did” Zeus drawls.
“As I have no heir, and no plan to have one to success the Alpha King position it would be passed on to the council to vote on who they believe is the Alphas Alpha, aka the Alpha King. It’s a long process, probably another months to a year, but it takes into consideration all the different packs views and votes. Multiple can be put forward for the voting process” he explains as we all listen, confused as to where this is going.
“But I already know who the most suitable candidate is for this position” he says leaning back. Showing his mark he taps on the crown at the bottom of his mark as Nova and I both freeze in realisation.
“The crown appears on the one truly worthy of becoming the Alpha King, it’s not a sign of royalty but rather who is destined for this position. You still have to go through the process but trust me when I say it will sway your favour massively” he explains calmly as his gaze focuses on me.
“Why are you talking about this?” Luca asks looking baffled for a moment whilst Laurence is looking at me intently.
“Because I have already put someone forward who I believe is the rightful Alpha King along with his Luna Queen” Alex says simply still not tearing his eyes from mine.
Suddenly Elder Martin steps forward and holds my gaze confidently, “your hard work will pay off in time.”
“You said that to me at the council building.” i whisper as everybody’s attention turns to myself and Nova.
Alex stands and comes to stand in front of me holding my gaze clearly as his next words shock me to my core.
“Jax..l’ve put you forward, you are the one truly worthy of being the Alpha King, along with Luna Nova as your Queen and Luna sharing a bond of true power.”
Mila:
“Don’t ask why, but could you come with me please?” My sister-in-law asks, her cheeks flushed lightly and her eyes full of excitement. Nodding in agreement I furrow my brows trying to think of what she wants me for.
Lost in thought as she gently pulls me along I hear her exclaim, “I didn’t get drinks but look who I found on my travels. this is Mila, Jax’s sister.”
Hearing my name my head snaps up and my eyes immediately meet the mesmerising blue eyes of the man stood in-front me. Smothering a gasp I drink in his appearance, hes tall and muscular showing he’s an Alpha, his eyes are framed by long lashes, whilst his light hair is short on the sides but longer on the top showing his slight curls. His fitted white shirt hints at his broad chest and muscular arms where I can see his skin is bronzed and smooth from where he’s folded his shirt sleeves slightly.
He’s so hot it makes me want to just lick..wait what am I thinking?!
Trying to subtly take in his scent I catch the faint scent of sandalwood and amber and it’s so intoxicating I just want to scent it more and more.
