A sigh escaped her lips as she climbed into the driver’s seat of her car. She started the car and made the decision to drive straight to the airport.
While she was on her way to the airport, Sara called her and inquired about the reasons why she was not present yesterday and why she was running late today.
“I’m not coming today,” Sophia replied to Sara.
The phone was on loudspeaker. She talked to Sara while driving, keeping her gaze fixed on the road.
“Why?”
“Alpha Victor is coming. He wants me to receive him from the airport.”
Sara was silent for a moment. Then her piercing screams echoed throughout the car.
“Are you for real? He is coming back! I bet it’s for the party.”
Sophia chuckled at her best friend’s reaction.
Sophia had told Sara about Victor one year ago. Sara was shocked at that time, but she said Sophia was intelligent enough to know everyone’s intentions.
“Sophia, be careful with him. Did he blackmail you? Why are you going to him?”
“That man is kind of funny. So I thought, Why not entertain myself?” Sophia said, laughing.
Sara did not laugh as she spoke in a low tone. “I told you what Nolan had told me once. He is not a good guy. People in his pack are afraid of him like death.”
“I don’t care. The same goes for our great head Alpha.”
Sara sighed and replied, “Then watch your steps before moving. By the way, I believe you. I know you know what you are doing.”
“Hmm.”
Sophia felt slightly relieved after speaking with Sara. After all, she was her best friend.
When Sophia arrived at the airport, the rain started to fall.
She parted her lips when she realized she did not have an umbrella with her.
She shrugged her shoulders, thinking she could make it inside the airport quickly. It would not take much time.
When she parked the car and got out of it, the raindrops began to fall on her. She took a deep breath and hurried all the way inside the airport.
Only the families of the head Alpha and officials were allowed to enter the terminal, even if they were not passengers. But they would have to show the pass, which Sophia had. She was Abraham’s sister, and he was the Gamma of the pack.
At that time, a few men began to block the path for the passengers.
Sophia turned her head and noticed a few cars parked near the terminal.
Her gaze froze when she saw a man who appeared to be a guard open the backdoor of a car while holding an umbrella to keep the person inside from getting wet in the rain.
A man in a black suit stepped out of the car with a sinister aura. The rain could not blur the darkness emanating from him.
He moved aside, and a stunning woman stepped out of the car. She stood beside him and smiled at the people around them.
Sophia blinked her eyes when the couple approached in her direction as they also made their way inside the airport.
They came to a halt as their gaze fell on her.
Time seemed to stop around them as Sophia looked at the man in the rain, forgetting that it was pouring down on her.
Excuse me, Miss.”
When a passenger passed Sophia, she looked away from the couple. They were none other than Alpha Bryan and his fiancee, Mila Laurant.
She did not know why this man always showed up in front of her. Not just him, she began to despise his fiancee, too.
“Alpha is here. Please clear the way, everyone!” The guards of the airport shouted so that everyone could hear them clearly in the rain.
Sophia passed through the security checkpoint outside the terminal and entered the airport without looking back at the couple. She felt drenched from the rain. She looked around at the passengers who had just exited the boarding pass.
She began to rub her wet hair as she looked for the washroom. But she paused and considered sitting in a seat to wait for Victor.
She thought her hair and clothes would dry soon.
She wondered why Bryan and Mila were there. Then she understood they may have come here to receive all of the Moon Valley Pack’s key members, including Victor.
“Did Victor know that Bryan was also coming? Why did he even call me here then?” Sophia thought, getting angry at Victor.
Her gaze was drawn to the couple once again as they walked towards the sitting area. Sophia was sitting in a few rows behind many benches, so they did not notice her.
She noted that Beta Robert and Theta Noble were also present. She was relieved that her brother had not come here. Otherwise, he would scold her again, just like he had when she went to meet Alpha Oliver.
Sophia cast a glance at Bryan’s back. He looked powerful from behind as well.
However, for how long?
Her eyes grew cold as she averted her gaze.
“All I need to do is ignore him. He is a stranger to me from now on. I don’t care even if someone attacks him in front of me,” Sophia said to herself.
As her hand continued to rub her hair, she took her phone from her bag with the other hand. She checked and saw that it was already time.
“Are you going somewhere?” A young lady asked Sophia as she came to sit next to her.
Sophia smiled at her and replied, “No. I’m waiting for someone.”
The lady understood that she was not an ordinary someone but connected with royals or officials.
“Me too. Who are you waiting for?”
Sophia was taken back. She did not know her. Why was she asking too many questions? She assumed she was a talkative woman, so she replied,
“A friend.”
“Oh. I am here for my husband. We have been waiting for him for three months. He will finally be with us.”
Sophia was perplexed. “We?”
The lady blushed and put her hand on her belly. “Me and my baby.”
“Oh! Congratulations,” Sophia immediately said, glancing at her belly.
She noticed a little baby bump when she looked carefully. The lady smiled and nodded at her.
“Are you someone close to the officials?” Sophia asked.
“No. My husband is Alpha’s trusted man.”
Sophia parted her lips. “Oh.”
“My husband had to go to the Moon Valley Pack for some work. Alpha Bryan trusted him and sent him to that pack. He even assured our family that my husband would return alive from that pack. But I am still worried about him.”
The lady’s words caused Sophia to frown. “Why did he send him there?”
The lady glanced in Bryan’s direction and mumbled, “I can’t tell you that. It’s about some business.”
“Oh.”
Sophia bit her bottom lip, as she did not know what to say. She gave it a thought and questioned,
“Why did he assure you that your husband would not die? Did Alpha send him as a spy?”
The lady’s eyes widened as she shook her head in denial. But Sophia assumed her answer.
“It’s okay. You don’t have to be afraid. I am just a mere member of your own pack. I won’t say anything to anyone.”
The lady turned away from Sophia and closed her mouth, realizing that she had spilled more beans than she should have.
Meanwhile, Sophia shook her head in disappointment.
‘That man only knows how to cheat others. Why did I never realize it during those six months? Or was I so blind in his love that I did not get a chance to see these things?’ she thought.
After a while,
People from the Moon Valley Pack began to appear in her sight. All the men looked powerful and professional. Sophia understood that they were the pillars of that pack.
They greeted Bryan respectfully when he rose from his seat. With a smile on her face, Mila spoke to them. Sophia thought those men might be her relatives.
The lady next to Sophia got up from her seat and went to meet her husband. Sophia looked at him. He was a young man. He looked simple, but his black coat caught her attention.
