Filed To Story: Mated To Big Brother-in-law
After giving her mother medicine, she told her, “You can rest. I’m going to my room.”
Her mother held her before she could stand up.
“Sophia.”
Sophia stared into her mother’s teary eyes. She wiped her mother’s eyes with her thumbs and asked,
“Why are you crying, Mom?”
Her mother hugged her and said,
“I don’t know how long I will live. As you haven’t found your mate, I want you to choose your life partner as soon as possible. I want to see you happy with a man before I die.”
After hearing her mother talk about death, Sophia’s heart completely froze. While she was thinking about it, her hands became more tightly wrapped around her mother.
Her throat burned as she let out a cold tone. “Mom, I will not let anything happen to you. You will live a long time. You will have to live a long time.”
Her mother broke the hug and cupped her cheeks. “I don’t know how long I will live, but I want to see two of my children with their beloved partners. Especially you, my dear. I can care less about Abraham because he is a gamma, and someday, he will find a woman for himself. You are an omega, and you don’t have a mate. I can’t be careless about you. That’s why I am telling you to choose someone who is best for you.”
She never dared to tell her mother about her mate. It was pointless anyway. So, when her mother realized it had been a long time for her age and she still had not found her mate, she might be a mateless omega.
Sophia stared at her mother for a while. The wetness of her mother’s eyes melted her heart for a moment, which turned ice in one year.
“Okay, mom. I will do as you wish.”
His mother’s eyes lit up. She has been very worried about her daughter over the last few days. That was why she became ill. The doctor warned her not to put any tension in her head, but she could not help herself.
After talking with her mother, Sophia went to her bedroom.
She freshened up to go to the orphanage. For the past year, that orphanage had become her favorite place. She went there most of the time to spend her time with the orphans. It was the only time when her heart softened; otherwise, she closed her heart for everyone else.
She opened the closet to take out a dress for herself. However, her gaze was drawn to a black suit jacket.
Suddenly, she found herself thinking about that man, whose name was enough to set ablaze the fire that burned in her heart.
It was as if the entire world around her had never allowed her to forget about her past. She had his two jackets, which she could not return to him. She burned one but kept another as a reminder of her past.
She stared at the jacket, feeling as if the scent was still lingering, as if one year had not been enough to remove his odor.
Her fingers slowly caressed the jacket before curling tightly into a fist.
“The worst begging in the world is begging for love. And you had made me do that begging, too.”
She averted her gaze from the jacket, letting it go. She took one of her dresses and pulled it out of the closet.
She changed her clothes and got ready to go out.
As she was putting on shoes, the door to her room flung open.
She paused and turned her head to the door. Her brother, Abraham, was looking at her with rage in his eyes.
She could say he was really in a bad mood. She continued what she was doing and asked,
“Why are you so angry, brother?”
Abraham came inside the room and asked,
“Yoo leaked the information of the Morrison Group to Alpha Oliver, didn’t you?”
Rather than answer him, Sophia shifted her feet to check if her shoes fit her legs perfectly.
Rising from the bed, she made her way to the dressing table. Reaching for her phone, she took one last look at her reflection in the mirror before turning to face her brother.
“Sorry, what were you saying? I was busy getting ready.”
Abraham gave her an angry look. “Sophia,” he said, gritting his teeth when he let out her name.
She walked toward him and raised her head to look at him.
“What’s wrong?” she asked.
“I’m your brother. So I’m requesting you. Stop doing all of this.”
Sophia folded her hands across her chest and asked,
“What are you talking about?”
“Why did you do that? Alpha Oliver is a strong competitor to our pack company. The last time, Alpha’s old secretary cheated him and leaked the information so that Alpha Oliver could get the project.”
Sophia scratched her chin as if trying to recall the incident. “Oh, yes. Let me tell you something, my brother. I was your Alpha’s assistant secretary at the time. He fired me that time because he thought I was the one who did it.”
Abraham was taken by surprise. “But I heard it was a woman named Lily Jain.”
Sophia nodded her head. “Your Alpha is not a strong-minded man. He has a habit of quickly changing his mind and preferences. So he later tried to find out the truth and got it successfully.”
Abraham stared at her. Within a year, his sister had transformed into someone else. Her personality and way of speaking had changed drastically.
“Sophia, this is all about the past. Don’t do anything that can hurt you later,” he murmured, alarming her.
Sophia’s gaze was fixed on her brother, who was very loyal to his alpha.
“Instead of warning me, why not ask your Alpha to break the mate bond?”
Abraham’s expression changed as he heard her sudden question. He had asked Bryan about it many months ago. He always ignored the issue whenever he tried to bring it up.
Abraham had not found his mate yet. So he had no idea how the mate bond worked. However, he was also concerned about his sister. But he could not betray Alpha, either. A Gamma could only give his life for his Alpha, not take his Alpha’s life.
When Sophia saw his reaction, she only felt bad for her brother. He was not to blame for it. She should not have asked him about it.
She patted his shoulder and said,
“Did he tell you I did it?”
Abraham turned his gaze away from her and replied,
“No. But I overheard you talking to Alpha Oliver about something. I warned you at that time, too. But you neglected it.”
Rolling her eyes, Sophia walked by him and uttered,
“Your Alpha has no proof that I did that.”
Abraham turned around and said,
“Sophia, as you said, he got the truth last time; he will find out the truth this time too. If you turned out to be a traitor pack member, even I can’t help you this time.”
This was not the first time Sophia had done something that harmed Bryan’s business. Surprisingly, she was aware of every secret about the pack company that could lead to its downfall at any time.
Sophia stopped at the door and replied coldly,
“Don’t worry about me, brother. Let him get busy with the investigation about some wolf hunting the rogues. Who knows, maybe one day that wolf will go to hunt him instead.”
Sophia left her house and went to the orphanage. When she stepped inside, a few children rushed up to her.
“Sister Sophia is here,” they said with cheerful voices.
Sophia smiled at them before bending down to embrace them.
They were kids who always liked to play with her. Rather than the teenage orphans, she was close to the kids. She felt terrible for them because they did not have parents to care for them.
So whenever Sophia got a chance, she came here to spend some time with them. Sometimes, she brought gifts for them to make them happy.
“Sophia.”
She let go of the children and raised her head, only to see the new director of the orphanage.
She got up to her feet. When the children saw the director, they went back to their rooms.
Sophia chuckled at them before returning her attention to the director.
“Mr. Davidson.”
Peter Davidson was the new director of the orphanage. As the old director had to suffer in the long run because of his illegal activities inside the orphanage, Bryan managed to find a new, trustworthy director for this orphanage.
Peter was a middle-aged man and the former Gamma of the Night Shade Pack.
His one leg was injured during the war a few years ago, and the pack doctor advised him not to fight in any future wars. At that time, he had to leave his position as the Gamma.
From then on, he had to live like an ordinary pack member until one day, Theta Noble called him and offered him this opportunity.
