Filed To Story: Mated To Big Brother-in-law
I gulped and nodded my head. I should not discuss him with other employees.
I went to the cafe of the company. It was in the lobby area.
Surprisingly, I met Troy there.
“Oh, hi.” I gave him a friendly wave and smiled.
When he saw me, he appeared to be delighted, and he approached me. During the time that we spent eating together, we chatted for a while.
“I heard about the meeting. Why did we lose the project?” I asked him while eating.
“We don’t know. But the Mountain Howl pack cheated on us.”
“What? How did they cheat us? Did they play the same project?” I inquired.
“No. I must say that their project was good.”
“Then what happened?”
“Everyone assumed that there was a spy around us who was providing them with all of the information regarding our project.”
“Who can that be?”
“Anyone. Maybe someone we know. But someone close to Alpha since he always secured every piece of information.”
It would be really shocking if someone important who Bryan trusted betrayed him.
I felt that he might be very upset that he lost a project. I had only seen him concentrating on work.
After talking with Troy, I went back to my cabin. I began to wonder who could betray our company.
The telephone over the desk began to ring, breaking the silence in the room.
I received the call.
“Hello?”
“In my cabin.”
Saying that, Bryan cut the call.
I turned my head to the glass window and thought about why he had called me to his cabin.
I left my cabin and went to his office room. I knocked on the door and entered the room.
“You called me.” I walked to his desk and stopped close to it.
I noticed him looking at some photos. I let him watch that and waited for him to speak.
He lifted his gaze from the photos and looked at me.
“Alph…”
I got interrupted when he threw the photos in my direction.
I hissed when I felt pain in my left cheek. The sharp edge of a photo cut my skin.
Although his actions shocked me, I lowered my head to look at the pictures.
The photos were scattered on the floor before me.
The photos were taken about noon when Alpha Oliver and I were having a conversation.
I flinched when Bryan let out an angry growl. I slowly looked at him, who glared at me and asked,
“Why did you do that?”
“W-What did I do?” I asked, stuttering at his behavior. Tears were sprinting into my eyes.
He rose up from his chair.
He approached me and grabbed my arm in a firm grip.
As soon as he drew me closer to him, I experienced pain in my arm.
“How much?”
I did not understand his question. I only stared at his hostile eyes.
“How much did he give you to betray me?” he asked once again, this time giving clarity to his inquiry.
My eyes widened as I shook my head.
“I-I didn’t do…Aaah!”
I could not speak properly as his grip tightened, hurting me more than before.
Tears rolled down my cheeks. He ignored them like a speck of dust.
“I thought you were a woman of words. But you turned out to be a voracious woman. You never let go of a single opportunity, do you? Just like that engagement party, you tried to destroy me today.”
“W-Why are you saying t-this? I didn’t do anything.”
“Then what are these?” he yelled at me.
The way he yelled caused my body to jerk. My eyes darted to the photos as I sobbed.
“T-These are today’s pictures.”
“Exactly. Why is he talking to you?”
“I d-don’t know. He asked who I was and talked to me.”
He let go of my arm and chuckled at me as if I were telling a joke.
In a matter of seconds, his chuckle transformed into a sarcastic laugh, and then it vanished entirely as his face became more ferocious.
“Do you think everyone is after you? Who do you think you are?”
I did not have any answers to his question. He did not believe me.
“Are you thinking that I was the one who gave him the information?”
He raised a brow. “Did I mention giving information? You yourself said it. Why did you do that? To destroy me? By just one project? What do you think? Who am I? This one project can’t shake me a little bit. I just hate betrayers.”
I wiped my tears and let out a lower tone.
“I know you won’t believe me. But I heard about the information thing from my friend Troy.”
“It’s been only one month, and you made my financial director such a close friend that he started to talk about the pack meetings with you?”
I was startled that he would scold Troy, so I tried to explain to him.
“No, I was the one who asked him. I overheard people talking about losing the project.”
“You must be very happy.”
“No, I am not.”
As though speaking with me was making him more enraged, he looked away from me.
“Just get out.”
I tightened my fists and lowered my head. I walked to the door while sobbing.
The moment I grabbed the doorknob, I heard him.
“If Lily had not overheard your conversation with that man, I would have been completely unaware of the identity of the traitor.”
My hand froze as I turned to him and asked,
“What did Miss Lily hear?”
He glared at me. “The way you cheated my company and helped another pack’s Alpha get the project,” he replied, gritting his teeth.
“I swear, I didn’t-“
“Just leave my company right now. Never come here again. I don’t want to see your face here. Just because of my gamma, I am letting you go this time. But if I see you here again, I will be the person you see before your death.”
