Upon turning my head, I noticed a man who was not familiar to me standing behind me.

I turned around to face him and asked,

“I am the CEO’s assistant secretary. May I know you?”

The man smirked as if I said something very interesting. By looking at his expensive suit, I had the impression that he was not an employee of this company.

He reached out his hand to me and greeted me with the name,

“Alpha Oliver.”

At the time when he introduced himself, I extended my hand to shake his.

“Sophia Berge,” I replied, withdrawing my hand after shaking it with his.

“Your look gave me the feeling that you don’t know me,” he said, chuckling.

I stared at him. Who was he? Why was he even there? Should I know him?

He was a young man in his late twenties. Was he an official of Bryan? No, he could not. He was an Alpha in rank.

I saw another man approach him and bow his head to him.

“Alpha.”

My eyes widened. ‘Alpha? Okay, he can be Alpha in rank. But why did that man bow to him?’ I thought.

“He is my beta, Jasper.” The man named Oliver said this to me while directing his head toward the new man.

I was taken aback.

Beta? Was he the Alpha of another pack?

I slowly turned my head and saw other employees looking at me, whispering about something. They might be talking about this Alpha.

“Are you an Alpha of any pack?” I asked Oliver.

His beta frowned at me and replied,

“He is the head Alpha of the Mountain Howl Pack.”

“Mountain Howl Pack?” I mumbled as I tried to remember something about that pack.

“See you again, beauty,” Alpha Oliver said to me.

I watched him and his beta leave. I was so confused and shocked that I forgot that I was standing there for a while.

“Sophia,”

I heard my name and turned around.

“Oh, Miss Lily!”

I was relieved that I did not have to go to Bryan today since Lily was back at work.

“How are you feeling today?” I asked her about her health.

“I am fine. I was waiting for you. But you seem to be busy without talking with someone special,” Lily muttered as she glanced in the direction where Alpha Oliver left.

To clear up her misunderstanding, I shook my head. “No, that’s Alpha Oliver. I did not eve-“

She cut me off and said,

“It’s okay. It’s your personal matter how you know him.”

I was about to object to that, but before I could say something, she spoke out again.

“Alpha wants you to make coffee for him.”

“He what?”

“Should I repeat my words again? Miss Sophia, where is your attention today?”

“Miss Lily, you are here. Why did he want me to make coffee for him?” I asked, thinking that he would humiliate me again, just like yesterday.

She felt offended by my question. “Everyone knows that he liked my coffee, but still, he wants you to make it for him. I think just for today,” she said while clearing her throat.

“Oh, okay.”

I turned my heels in the direction of where the coffeemaker was.

“Bring it to my cabin.” I heard her from behind.

I turned my head toward him. “Do you also want to drink coffee?”

“No. He wants me to bring the coffee to his cabin.”

“Oh, I see. Sure.”

I walked to the coffee machine and tried to remember how I made the coffee last time.

After making a cup of coffee, I walked to Lily’s cabin.

The door was slightly open, so I thought she let it open for me to enter.

As I pushed the door lightly and stepped inside, I heard her talking on her phone.

“Congratulations.”

“No, thanks to you.”

“Yeah, sure.”

I stood at the door while looking at her. She noticed me and appeared to be caught off guard.

I could not understand her look.

“Okay. I will talk to you later,” Lily said, hung up the phone, and then gazed at me.

“Why didn’t you knock before entering the room?”

“I-I thought yo-“

“Anyway, give it to me.”

She grabbed the cup from my hand. I walked out of her cabin as I saw her heading to Bryan’s office.

I went to my cabin and started to work on the files that Lily had already placed on my desk.

A few hours later, I stood up for a small break.

As I walked out of my cabin, I saw the atmosphere was not so good.

All the employees looked scared, as if someone had attacked them.

I went to a female employee and asked,

“What happened?”

“Don’t you know about the pack meeting?”

“What pack meeting?” I asked with confusion.

“The pack meeting that had taken place this morning,” she replied.

“This morning? But I did not know about it. It was noon when I arrived here.”

She shook her head as she glanced at the CEO’s office.

“We lost a project to the Mountain Howl Pack.”

I was surprised to hear that. “But I saw that pack’s Alpha when I came here.”

“Yeah, many Alphas from different packs came to the meeting today. Alpha Oliver himself came to meet Alpha Bryan to show off his success. That’s why we are all afraid of Alpha Bryan’s mood.”

“I-Is he okay?”

“No, he is furious.”
