Filed To Story: Mated To Big Brother-in-law
“Alpha, I need to talk to you.”
“About what?” he asked.
He was about to sit in his chair. I replied,
“About the mate bond.”
His steps froze as if he did not like the topic of my conversation. Or perhaps he hated it.
He turned around to face me and asked,
“What about it?”
I took a deep breath and said,
“I am asking if you have found the solution.”
“What solution?”
“The mate bond between us. We can’t be bonded with each other like this forever, right? So I thought about the solution to break it.”
The moment I let out my thoughts, his eyes darkened.
I immediately looked away from his dark gaze. Why was he frightening me? Did I say something wrong? Didn’t he also want the same?
My eyes were on the floor as I waited for him to say something about it.
Instead of his voice, I heard his shoes tapping on the floor, indicating that he had started to walk.
In a few seconds, I realized he was coming in my direction. I raised my head and looked at him.
He looked somehow angry.
Why?
As soon as I noticed that he was getting closer, I took a step back. The door was not far away from me. As a result, my back was pressed against the door the moment I took a step backward.
I gasped when he rested his right hand on the door next to my head.
He lowered his head to reach my level and asked,
“What did you just say? You want to break it?”
His hot breath touched my face as he spoke out. His scent touched my nostrils, making me crazy, as if, in no time, my body would press against his without my permission.
‘Stop it, Sophia. Focus.’ I told myself and raised my head to look at him.
I was shocked when I found him too close to my face. Our faces were inches apart from one another.
“Y-Yes,” I mumbled while trying my best to let out the word.
A frown formed on his face as he asked,
“Where was your this concern when you came to ruin my engagement in front of my guests and my fiancee’s family?”
His fierce face trembled my heart. Though he had just asked a simple question, when he said, ‘My fiancee,’ I did not feel well.
I averted my gaze from his attractive face and turned my head to my right side.
“That time, my wolf took over me. If I were in my sanity, I would have never done that.”
“Oh, really?” I heard his mocking tone.
I immediately turned my head to face him. Shockingly, my nose brushed against his. I clutched my dress tightly in an effort to bring my pulse rate under control, which had begun to quicken.
Did every single person feel the same for their mate? Then how did they resist the feelings and reject them?
To my surprise, he did not move back. Instead of doing that, he shifted his nose to my cheeks and moved to my ear.
The touch of his nose on my skin felt blissful. I shut my eyes tightly.
‘No, no. I am not supposed to feel this way.’ I reminded myself once again.
“No matter how much you pretend, you can’t resist this bond,” he muttered close to my ear. It was almost as if he was saying it to himself.
I bit my lower lip as I began to feel a sensation in my body.
“Stop acting as if you really want to break it. I know your inner thoughts. You want to get the Luna’s position.”
I froze because of his words. Just listening to his harsh remark was enough to wash away all of the sensations that had been building up inside of me.
I opened my eyes and took a deep breath. I attempted to push him by placing my hands on his chest. I did not want to listen to him anymore.
But my push did not move him even a little bit.
It appeared as though the push had caused him to get enraged, as he then placed his other hand on my left side and caged me between his arms.
My eyes widened. He moved his head to gaze at me.
I looked into his eyes.
Suddenly, a smirk appeared on the left side of his mouth, and the dusk that had been lingering inside his eyes began to fade away.
“There is no way to break the mate bond except by rejecting you as my mate, which I will never do.”
I let out a loud gasp as my eyes stared at him. As if he enjoyed my response, his lips curved up into a mischievous grin, which became more prominent and deeper as he continued to observe my reaction.
His devilish look made my knees shake. What did he mean by saying he would never do that?
Was the reason behind it only to keep his throne in his hands?
I knew I would never survive the rejection, either. But still, I wanted to ask why he would never do that.
“W-Why?”
His eyes began to scrutinize my face. It was like his eyes were touching me; I felt them brushing my skin.
His gaze halted for a second on my lips, and I felt my lips quiver.
He shifted his gaze from my lips to my eyes. I could not describe how I was feeling right now. His eyes were piercing my soul.
“The reason is clear. I don’t want to lose my position,” he replied with a calm tone.
I broke eye contact. I was so mad at myself that, for a few seconds, I thought he would say something else.
What happened to me? Why was I thinking something impossible again and again?
“Then what about me?” I asked with an angry tone.
“What about you?” he asked right away.
I looked at him and asked, “How will I live my life?”
He looked confused, as if I had asked a dumb question. “Did I stop you from living? You are totally fine standing in front of me, having a good job, and living your life fully.”
Did he think that was called a good life? I was hanging between him and his throne. My fate betrayed me; I could not even force him for the rejection, which would only risk my life.
“That means I can live however I want; you don’t have any problem with it?”
He scoffed at me. “Why would I?”
I nodded my head at him. “Okay,”
“But stay away from my brother.”
I frowned at him.
“As I told you before, I am not the one who goes to him. That scumbag comes to me for saying sorry for the cheating he did. But who will believe in me? You think me a cheater and your brother a good man.”
He glared at me, demonstrating that he did not like how I was talking about his little brother. I guessed he really cared for him. As a big brother, he wanted to protect Bruce from me.
Bryan moved his hands from my sides and stood straight. “Don’t dare talk about him like that again. This is my last warning. Don’t forget that he is Alpha Bryan’s brother.”
His chilly tone echoed throughout the office room. I lowered my head.
“Yes, Alpha.”
He turned around and walked to his chair.
