She walked for a while until she arrived at the bus stop. Taking a bus, she made her way to her university.
‘It’s okay. I will apply to another company,’ she tried to soothe herself.
She thought about her mother. In what way would she respond to her? It was her mother’s belief that she would be safe working at Morrison Group, which led her to agree to her daughter’s employment there. Now, if Sophia told her that she had not been selected for the position, would she now be okay with her working for a different company?
The bus came to a stop in the vicinity of her university.
She walked with a gloomy expression on her face after entering the campus.
Some of the other students on her campus were gazing at her as she entered a building.
It dawned on her that she had completely forgotten to change her clothes before arriving here.
She was considering going to the washroom, but before she could move ahead, her phone began to ring.
A call from an unknown number was displayed on her phone when she pulled it out of her bag and looked at it.

She heard a young woman’s soft voice. “Am I speaking to Sophia Berge?”
“Yes, I am Sophia.”
Sophia gave her response while looking around at the other people. She could not identify the woman’s voice she was speaking with.
But she was shocked when she heard the woman’s next sentence.”Hi, I’m Lily Jain, Alpha Bryan’s Personal Secretary. The reason I am calling you is to let you know that you have been selected for the role of Assistant Secretary to the CEO.”
Sophia’s POV
When I heard the woman, I was very shocked. How could that man assign me to such a high level?An assistant secretary was someone who would assist the secretary. It was a position that offered a very high salary. In actuality, it was of great value in the field of employment. In the end, the person would be the assistant secretary of the CEO, not any manager’s assistant secretary.
“Hello? Are you listening, Miss Berge?” I heard Lily’s voice again.”Yes, yes. I am listening to you, Miss Lily,” I replied to her.
Nevertheless, my thoughts turned to the remarks made by Alpha Bryan. Apparently, he did not believe that I was qualified to work for his company.
So, what caused him to change his mind?
Was he again planning to insult me?
I could not just believe him.
“Due to the fact that you are a student, it is necessary for us to arrange your schedule, Miss Berge. Join us tomorrow at nine o’clock in the morning. I will determine the time for you. At the same time, you will be able to participate in a brief training session.”
“That would be best for me. Thank you, Miss Lily.”
“At any time. Have a good day. See you tomorrow.”
Following her statement, Lily hung up the phone. I was in a state of haze. The tone that that woman used struck me as being professional. It was a clear indication that I got the job!
What exactly was going on?
Did he believe what I said to him in his office today? Is he now able to release me from the misconception that he had about me?
I felt someone hugging me from behind.
“What are you thinking? How was your interview?”
It was Sara. I turned to her and replied,
“It didn’t go well. But…”
“But what? And why didn’t it go well? Did that manager ask any difficult questions?”
She inquired with a concerned expression on her face. I could see that she also wanted me to get this job.
“I got the job,” I mumbled in a hurry.
Immediately after her lips gaped open for a few a while, she embraced me.
“YES! I KNEW IT!” she exclaimed joyfully.
I gave her a hug in return. Those who were in the vicinity of us stared at us with a confused expression.
As she pulled away from the hug, she asked,
“What is your job? Even if it’s from the lower sector, don’t lose hope. I believe you are going to shine in the near future.”
I held her hand and replied, “I became the CEO’s assistant secretary.”
“YOU WHAT!!!”
Her scream burst out much louder than before.
I pressed my palm to cover her mouth.
“Calm down, Sara. People are watching us.”
She removed my hand from her mouth. “Who gives a damn? This should be a cause for celebration.
The job left me with a lot of questions. But Sara’s cheering was making me feel better.
I gave her a nod. “Okay, I am giving you and Nolan a treat today.”
“Hurray!”
“But where is Nolan?”
“He will be late today. He has some stuff to do. We will have him join us during our break.”
“Okay.”
After having a conversation with Sara, I walked to my class. We all have different schedules today.
On my way into the classroom, I changed into my regular clothing by using the restroom that was close to the classroom.
I attended my classes while trying to be attentive. But my mind kept thinking about Bryan Morrison.
Why was it that he had such a profound impact on me each time we met?
How could my wolf react like that in front of him?
After all the classes, I checked the time. It was fifteen minutes past one at noon.
In order to catch up with my buddies, I headed to the canteen.
I noticed Sara and Nolan seated at a table. Once they noticed me, they waved with their hands in my way.
I marched to them and took a seat beside them.
“Congratulations. I heard you got a job?” Nolan asked with a warm smile.
“That’s right. To add to that, I am grateful. However, I am not in the mood to feel anything at the moment.”
After giving each other a brief glance, Sara and Nolan switched their attention to me.
“Why?” Nolan asked.
I rubbed my forehead in distress.
“Today Alpha Bryan took my interview, and I left his office without his permission.”
All of my friends were taken aback. It was impossible for them to believe what they were hearing.
“That’s disrespectful!” Sara mumbled.
I lowered my head and nodded. “I know. At the moment, I was unable to come up with a more efficient way to deal with him.”
“Wait a minute. Why would you deal with him?” Nolan asked.
Putting my face on the table, I hid it by placing my elbows on it. I was baffled and unsure of how to respond.
I did not have someone to talk to about my suffering or my thoughts. What kind of life could a person lead if they kept grave secrets?
‘If I tell them about everything, will they judge me? But there is nothing to judge. It is not my fault; rather, it is the fault of my fate.’ I thought as so many things were running in my head.
Sara leaned in close to my head and placed her hand on my head before bending down. She said,
