Don’t look away.

I am here.

We will be okay.

I will not leave you.

Stay awake.

Those were the words whispered in the dark that night, until the bleeding stopped, and she faded in to oblivion. When Araiya awoke the next day, the vision of the Goddess in white was gone, and she was alone. But the blood stain was there so she knew it happened. She must have hallucinated the Goddess in white. Or so she had thought for years.

Now as she stared down at her sister, who murmured the same words, she knew.

Don’t look away.

I am here.

We will be okay.

I will not leave you.

“You, it was you.” She whispered it so softly that no one caught it.

Donal came back, trailed by a soldier who held

a clay pot that was covered. The soldier himself was trembling and Donal looked smug, but Araiya missed it all, staring at Korine.

“Jon, are you liking what you’re watching?” Donal walked over to pet Araiya, and he ran his hands up and down her back. Araiya arched away and screamed.

Jon smirked and nodded with vigor. “It is quite fitting I get to watch her brought to heel. She has been a thorn in my family’s side for years.” The disgust was clear in Jon’s voice, which Araiya could only scoff and smirk at as she hung from her wrists after Donal had stopped touching her. Blood trailed down her legs and pooled underneath her.

“Are you amused, Chosen? What is so funny?” Donal wrapped his hand around her hair and pulled back. Her head flopped back, and she looked at him with a smile on her face. “Your body is ruined, and you laugh?”

Araiya cleared her throat “Just funny that he is somehow disgusted with me. He is the one that is disgusting.” Donal back handed her, and her head flopped back down, and she looked over at Korine, who started to look pale. The soldier had placed the clay pot by her head, and she kept darting her eyes towards it.

“You shut your fucking whore mouth, you bitch. Look at my fucking daughter because of you. He ruined her!” Jon was standing and spittle flew from his lips. His face was bright red as he screamed over and over that Korine was ruined. It took far too long for him to realize that everyone else was deathly silent.

Donal was vibrating with fury. “I ruined her? Did you truly believe that if I got Araiya back that Korine would be sent back to you? That you would be able to see her off to someone else after me?” Donal slowly walked over to Jon, who had grown quiet. “No. Once a woman is mine, she stays mine until I grow bored of her.”

“You said she was going to be free after today. That is why I came.”

“I know what I said Jon, and I deliver.”

“Don’t,” Araiya called out. Everyone turned.

“Don’t what, girl?” Donal turned his sadistic eyes back to Araiya.

She stared at Donal and let the everything that had happened to her show. She stripped away her humanity, she stripped away everything that was still good, and she revealed the creature he had pain shakenly created. She let the pain, the venom, the hate fill her eyes as she looked at the one staring at her.

She showed her new self and said it again. “Don’t.” She knew he was going to turn on Jon, on Korine, and there was nothing she could do chained.

Donal stepped back at her revelation, but then rallied. How dare she try to cow him. He held her chains, he was in charge, and he would not bow to likes of a woman. Specially this woman.

“Kristin.” Donal called and the soldier reacted. He kneeled next to Korine.

“Don’t you fucking do it.” Araiya darted her eyes to where Korine lay. She saw how pale she was. She was trembling. She had an idea about what was to happen, and it terrified her. “Donal, I swear on the darkness that consumes us all, if you so much as touch her, I will melt your fucking insides while you live.”

Jon stood. “What?” He approached Donal and turned to Araiya. “Don’t be stupid. Donal is freeing Korine, and she is coming home.”

Araiya refused to look away from Donal. From the sweat that was forming on his face. “I swear it, even your master will not be able to save you, Donal. If you even break one strand of her fucking hair, I swear it.”

“Araiya,” Korine called to her.

“Something is wrong with her eyes.” The solider shook where he knelt.

“You can’t do a thing.” Donal took a shaky step forward. “You are chained, and he will save me.”
