Terran linked everyone.

Never underestimate our girl Terran, she’s a fighter, she always figures out a way.

Mac chuckled.

No, you dumbass, he means she shouldn’t be able to call us like this. A normal mate shouldn’t be able to make the call. There was only one ever Dracoy couple, the firsts. That was the last we ever heard the calls and see the response to them.

River flicked his tail into Mac’s face.

Just focus on where she is, only the Goddess knows how she is doing it. Spirit is probably the cause, boosting her connection to us so we react like this. She probably isn’t even screeching, or calling, but spirit is boosting our bonds, so we hear her call because she is in danger.

Talon bellowed out when through the bond he could feel Araiya.

Something isn’t right, she’s panicking now. How far are we?

It’s about half a day’s flight. Anyone else catching anything else?

Mac’s tense voice called through the link. A chorus of no’s went around. They all knew something wasn’t right, the panic in Araiya just kept rising and rising.

Whatever is going on, we need to get there as soon as possible. Talon, use Air to Keep the wind in our wings, Mac use Fire to help with updraft. We don’t need to be completely wiped from flying when we arrive. We will be no help to anyone if that happens.

River called out.

Yes, Eta.

The others called back and fell in line. Mac and Terran behind River on the right and left, with Talon directly behind everyone, flying in a diamond shape. The ease that everyone fell into a formation was interesting, something that River would inspect deeper when he had a free moment.

River initiated a call, a trumpet that called back to Araiya. If she could initiate a call, maybe she would hear it. He wanted her to know they were coming. He trumpeted a second time, and the rest joined in.

We are coming lamb, hold on.

“Araiya, Rai, you have to wake up now. I know

you’re tired, but they are coming back.” Korine pleaded with her from across the room. Korine didn’t realize that Araiya had been awake the entire time, she had just tunneled deep into herself. The panic had a death grip on her, and she couldn’t shake it. She couldn’t pull herself back up.

She would never walk properly again, stand straight again.? She would never be able to fight, run, dance, ride Hellion. She would never be able to make love properly, not completely, anyways. There would always need to be some sort of accommodation for her. Someone would always have to help her, change something. She would always need help, help with dressing, or need a hand with whatever she was doing.

She would never be free, not truly free. Ever again.

That single fact broke her.

She had fought so very long, and so very hard to make it through her life to get away. She fought so hard to be free, but Shavon had managed what Jon and Donal had never been able to. Her friend snatched away any chance she had. It was a hard feeling to swallow, knowing she did it trying to help her, and she should be grateful to be alive.

“Araiya, please,” Korine pleaded and Araiya heard the pleading in her voice.

“What’s wrong Kora?” Araiya pushed herself up slowly, being careful of her back.

Korine gasped so hard she ended up choking. Once she had cleared her airway, she came as close as she could. “You haven’t called me that since we were little.”

“You made it clear we were no longer friends, Korine, why would I call you by my pet name? I honestly figured you had forgotten we were friends to begin with.”

“Araiya. I never forgot, I just-“

“Oh goodie, you’re both awake and chatty it seems.” Donal laughed like he told a joke. “I have another surprise for you lovely ladies. Actually, I should say we have a few.”

Both girls stared back at him silently.

“Come now, are neither of you interested in the surprise? Really? You get two visitors and you’re all surprised out. Come now, wife.”

“What is the first surprise, husband?” Korine played along, knowing he would only get violent if she didn’t.

“We are going on a little ride. We are going to show all our visitors the arch.”

“All our visitors?” Korine turned to face Donal. “You mean the man and the Chosen?”

“No,” he chuckled. “Another visitor turned up, just for you, wife. Jon is here. He figured that now that we have Araiya; he might be able to take his precious daughter home.”
