“Bix,”
I hugged him tightly from behind.
I froze and looked up. “What happened?”
He put his hand on my cheek.
“Don’t make me wait too long,”
I murmured.
He slowly turned and kissed my lips, “Okay.”
“I love you,”
I stated.
In response he just smiled and said, “Okay.”
He never responded to my I love you.’
He would just smile and say okay but it was enough for me.
I walked him to his car in the parking lot and once he was gone, I could not help but feel empty. We were currently in a long distance relationship that I hated with a fiery passion. I wanted to lock him in a cage or tie him to me but that was only going to make him fear me. Or worse he was going to leave me. I could not let my dark side take action and scare Bix. He had barely accepted our mate bond. I had to be patient. No, I could not be selfish. After all he was mine.
At least that’s what I thought until a month passed and Bix did not return.
“Oran!”
Reuben shouted, shoving my hand away from the bonfire. “Where did you go? You burnt your hand!”
“Ohh ”
I looked down at the burns and did not feel much pain at all.
Reuben looked at me worriedly, “What’s the matter? I have been noticing that you’ve been acting this way for a couple of days. You seem down and distracted. Though it does not affect your work, you are not yourself. Is something the matter?”
I remained mute and kept looking at my burn. “Is this about Bix?”
Reuben got it in one.
I closed my eyes and rubbed my hand over my face once, “I feel like I’m going crazy,”
I admitted, staring at the fire. “I have not seen him in a month. We have chatted in messages and calls but that is not enough for me. I feel so lonely without him. I need him with me. Am I being sick?”
I finally revealed my emotions to Reuben who easily related with me.
“It’s normal,”
he chuckled, “When you are in love, you think about your mate all the time, so much so that you want to be like their shadow. After all you two are connected by your souls. You are not sick. You’re just in love. Bix will be no different than you.”
I looked at him, “you think Bix will be as restless as me?”
Whenever I called him, he sounded cool and happy. It didn’t seem like he had a problem with it. I wanted him happy but he sounded way more calm in comparison to my restlessness.
“Of course, Bix is going to be restless. After all you are his other half and he is too arrogant to show or admit his feelings,”
he grinned.
I smiled and stared at the bonfire. Yeah, that must be the case. Bix must be shy. How could I have forgotten that he was different. That’s why the next day, after finishing a business meeting with investors for my company, I went straight to Opal Moon. If he was too busy to return to Emerald Bright, I would go to visit him myself.
To my surprise, Opal Moon had been restored to its former glory. No, better than its former glory. Alpha Adam had finally realized his previous mistakes and was helping Bix with many aspects of rebuilding Opal Moon. Of course, I clearly saw Bix’s hard work everywhere I looked. My mate was the best after all. With a proud smile, I made my way towards the packhouse.
“Beta Oran,”
every passing pack member greeted me with a respectful smile. That was proof that everyone had accepted Bix as their new Alpha and were happy with him.
I jogged into the packhouse, impatient to see Bix. I wondered what kind of expression he would have once he saw me. Would he be happy? Would he hug me or kiss me? But once I got inside, I heard some noises coming from the meeting room.
I peeked through the window to find Bix having a meeting with a group of Alphas from different packs. He looked so handsome with that serious expression. Of course, I was the only one that knew how cute and seductive he looked when he begged me to fuck him harder.
My lips kept smiling at the sight of him and I kept my scent hidden not wanting to disturb him. I decided to only watch him from outside the window then leave after some time later.
“Excuse me?”
A female’s voice called to me from behind.
I glanced back to find a beautiful woman, probably in her early twenties standing there.
“Yes?”
I raised an eyebrow at her. She did not look like a pack member.
“What are you doing here acting like a spy? Your actions are suspicious. Who are you?”
The corner of my lips twitched at her attitude, “Whether I am a spy or a thief, what is that any business of yours? Go on and don’t bother me,”
I ignored her and went back to my work of eyeing my Bix.
“How dare you talk to me that way?”
she demanded, grabbing my arm. “Do you know who I am?”
I shoved her hand away, “Don’t touch me, woman,”
I warned. “Even if you are Queen of the world, I don’t give fuck.”
“Such an attitude almost as if you are an Alpha!”
she growled letting it echo in the surroundings. I ignored her nonsense. It didn’t matter how ill she spoke. She was lucky she was a woman. She realized her barking had no effect on me. I thought she would leave when she grew tired but I had no idea that she had noticed that my eyes were focused on Bix in an unusual way.
“Do you like men?”
she questioned. I froze in place. Did I like men? No, I only liked Bix, but I did not need to explain that to others. When I ignored her, she stepped closer to me. “He looks like a straight man. You should try somewhere else,”
she provoked me, this time I could not ignore her.
“Just who the fuck are you, bitch? Yes, I am into him. Do you need more details?”
