“Willow, you should not ”
Walter tried to stop me.
“Sure,”
Ella smiled, cutting him off, “just don’t blame me if you get hurt because I am no longer the old Ella,”
she shifted into her wolf form and charged at me.
“What a coincidence,”
I smiled, racing at her in my human form, surprising everyone in the clearing as I spotted a shine in Ella’s eyes. A human and an Alpha wolf were no match. She believed that she would defeat me in one move, “I am no longer the old Willow either.”
With that, I half-shifted in mid-run, raising my hand for her to pounce at, while simultaneously using it to grab her wolf’s neck and slamming her down on the ground with all my might.
Her wolf’s head was badly injured, unable to bear the pain she shifted back into her human form hissing in agony.
“Ella!”
Bix stood there in shock, rooted to in place unable to move closer to help her because she was lying naked.
Walter was shocked at the sight of me in this form, a side of me that I had never disclosed to him. In his eyes, I was always a pretty petite she-wolf that had two children. Of course, Reuben’s lips curled into a smile as he knew me better than anyone else.
When I accepted Ella’s challenge, Reuben saw the confidence in my eyes and predicted my victory. After all, he had been teaching me how to fight since I was fourteen. Even though I had been living among humans for six years, I had not forgotten a thing and practiced in the woods so that I could protect my children.
I looked down at Ella, who lay at my feet. “You never change, Ella. You could never defeat me in the past, or now.”
“Really?”
Ella whispered, her lips suddenly curling into a victorious smile as she mouthed, “Let’s break this chain then ”
I read her lips, unable to understand the meaning behind her words as a familiar male voice entered the clearing.
“Alpha Reuben”
Reuben turned in the direction of the other side of the clearing where an old man stood in the royal robe.
“Elder Frank!”
Reuben was surprised. “What are you doing here?”
A past encounter with that elder crossed my mind but this time a very bad feeling arose in my heart with the arrival of Elder Frank for some reason.
“I am here with the imperial decree from the King for you,”
he smiled at Reuben.
“What imperial decree?”
Reuben raised an eyebrow.
“The marriage contract you signed with Alpha Ella, it is time for it to finally come into effect.”
Reuben’s expression did a 180 degree change as my heart leapt into my throat, “What do you mean?”
he asked.
“It is an imperial decree for your wedding date with Ella.”
My eyes widened and I forgot to breathe. Reuben and Ella’s wedding date?
The day Reuben saved me from the rogue trafficking ring, I fell for him. I slowly realized he was the man I wanted in my life and nothing else mattered. His gentle nature, his devotion, and his love had all been reserved just for me, and that gave me a sense of security. After learning that he was my soulmate, there was nothing else for me to wish for. The problem was the more I loved him, the more my fears became centered around him.
My greatest fear was Reuben’s sudden disappearance.
He used to disappear without a word, never telling me why. With my own dark secrets and past in my life, I never dared to ask him about it, no matter how scared I was.
Until that night when I opened the door of my house, I never expected that Reuben would be standing on my doorstep. He had disappeared for a week only to reappear in front of me at this time of night. His sudden return was as surprising as his flushed face, which was blood red. His hair was messy and his wolf’s eyes were slightly hidden beneath it were filled with nothing but lust
I just stared at him with wide eyes, the silence between us was scary as my heart skipped a beat realizing he was in rut.
A rut was the most dangerous state for a wolf. Before I could think any better of it he carried me up in his arms.
“Reu Reube ”
The door of my house slammed shut behind him before I knew it I found myself tossed on the bed then under him moaning in pleasure. He was so desperate that he had not bothered to undress himself. He tore my clothes off and started fucking me. He was just an animal at that point who wanted me, that’s all. The scariest thing about that night had nothing to do with his wild thrust or his groaning like a beast every time he released, it had everything to do with the fact that he had unprotected sex with me all night.
Reuben was completely taken over by a lust infused haze thanks to his rut. I knew that he was not in his senses, but what captivated my heart was that no matter how far gone he was, he came to me when he was in his rut. He hadn’t chosen another woman to fulfill his needs, that’s what made me fall in love with him even deeper. That night, we made love until Reuben’s rut faded away in the middle of the night.
Early the next morning, I felt a soft kiss on my lips before Reuben murmured in my ears, “Sleep well.”
When I opened my eyes the bed beside me was empty, he was gone. I knew he had just stepped out. Quickly throwing on some clothes, I rushed out of my house despite my whole body feeling like a giant toothache.
“Reuben!”
I found him in the clearing, just as he was about to open his car door. When he heard my voice, he turned with a big smile and spread his arms. I rushed into his embrace, hugging him tightly. “Are you leaving again? When will you be back?”
He chuckled and kissed my forehead, “Soon, I’ll be back very soon.”
“Then I’ll be waiting for you,”
I raised my tip toes and gave him a soft kiss on the lips, which wasn’t enough for him. He kissed me deeply and passionately before reluctantly pulling away and driving off.
I watched his car until it disappeared from the clearing, already feeling his absence.
Taking a deep breath, I turned around and found an old man standing in the clearing, watching me. My face turned pale when I realized it was none other than Elder Frank. He was one of the royals and an acquaintance of Alpha Louis. I didn’t know why, but he visited the Emerald Bright Pack from time to time.
“So this is the reason Alpha Reuben left all that important work tonight?”
he raised his brows, his gaze becoming absolutely disgusted when it fell on me. “Did you sleep with him?”
he asked.
My whole body grew cold with fear. He had seen everything-me with Reuben, us kissing. The only thought that crossed my mind was that I was doomed. If he told Alpha Louis about Reuben and me, I would be rejected and banished. I would lose Reuben.
“Didn’t you hear what I just asked?”
He walked closer to me, taking note of all the bite marks on the exposed skin of my neck.
Trembling in fear I tried to cover my neck, but it was no use. I lost my voice as he stood face to face with me.
