Reuben laughed and lovingly rubbed his head, “Daddy loves both Wyatt and Lori. That’s why we were coming to get you. Now quick, hold your sister’s hand,”
he gestured to Wyatt.
Wyatt’s face lit up as he quickly joined us. The children were sandwiched between us while I held Wyatt’s hand and Reuben held Lori’s. Both of them were just delighted over the fact that they were holding hands with Reuben and I.
“I’ve always wanted to hold hands with daddy and mommy like other kids,”
Wyatt chippered as he continued talking with Lori.
Hearing them I glanced at Reuben who was already looking at me. This feeling was so different from anything I had experienced before. We we looked like

Mia’s cheerful voice pulled me out of my thoughts. I looked straight ahead to find her standing by the car grinning from ear to ear. She shot me a meaningful wink. I rolled my eyes. I knew she had gotten the wrong idea earlier.
“Eat your lunch and take care of each other,”
I said to the children. They nodded and got in the car.
“Then we are leaving,”
Mia smiled at Reuben and I.
“Drive safe,”
Reuben remarked. As Mia got in the car and children began waving their hands at us, I felt someone’s eyes on me. It was the same feeling I had that last time that I had lived in the Emerald Bright Pack. My hand paused as I looked around. Once again, there was no one there but I could feel it. Their gaze and insanity. What was this feeling?
“Bye bye mommy and daddy,”
Wyatt and Lori’s voices pulled me out of my thoughts.
I smiled and waved my hand at the vanishing car until I felt Reuben’s chest touching my back. “I never knew that sending children off to school felt this good. I want to do it again tomorrow.”
I looked over my shoulder at him, “Why are you telling me?”
“I want you to do it with me.”

A gentle brush to my cheek and a hot breath fanning against my face made me slowly open my eyes. Blinking softly I tried to see everything clearly, a pair of beautiful green eyes appeared in front of my field of vision that did not appear to have gotten even a wink of sleep the previous night and were focused solely on me. I blinked at my position, which was clearly different then when I had curled up on the other side of the bed away from him last night. At the moment, my head was resting on Reuben’s arm, our bodies touching, and our faces were an inch away from each other as he stared at me without blinking.
“Why are you staring at me like that?”
I asked in a slow voice, looking into his eyes that were brimming with different emotions.
He gently tucked my hair behind my ear, “You will no longer be staying in this room after today. The mere thought of you leaving makes me restless. I just can not seem to look away from you for even a second,”
he whispered, touching my lower lip as he kept his eyes locked with mine. “This bed will be empty and you will not be in my arms anymore,”
a thick layer of sadness crossed in his eyes.
I could not help but silently stare into his eyes. It was indeed my last day in Reuben’s bedroom. Yesterday, I felt worlds better due to his taking care of me and making sure I ate properly. He had stubbornly kept me away from my work and handled children on his own too. We spent the whole time together eating all three meals together, spending time with children, and walking in the garden in the evening before we went to bed that night. The last ended what felt like a few minutes ago, now it was the next morning which meant it was my last day in Reuben’s bedroom.
I looked away from his pleading gaze that was clearly asking me to not go. “This has to come to an end, you knew that from the beginning,”
saying that, I tossed the blanket back, and got up from the bed to head to the bathroom. As soon as I took two steps, Reuben wrapped one arm around my waist and the other around my chest as he hugged me from behind.
“You are so cruel, Willow,”
he whispered, burying his face on my neck, his pain grated at my heart though our mate bond. I clenched my nightgown at my side and closed my eyes to control my crazy heartbeat.
I opened my mouth and said while controlling my own emotions, “Let go,”
my voice was barely above the whisper.
Reuben shook his head, “I still have one day to spend with you,”
he murmured in my ear, hugging me tightly, “I will not let you go before that. You are tied to me until then.”
Captured in his arms, I could not say anything to him. I stood still, listening to his breathing and heartbeat that mirrored my own.
Later that day after, I went to my room to get my laptop once Reuben left to deal with some important pack business. There was nothing to do for me in his room alone, I was bored to death. So I sat on the sofa with my laptop and started going through my emails. There were way too many as I had not checked them for two days.
Scrolling and ignoring the less important emails, I clicked on my assistant Lola’s emails.
Willow, I have arranged a model for you according to your requirements. The model is new to modeling but trust me they are perfect! Please check the attachment in the next email,”
Curiously, I checked the attachment to find the details. Surprisingly, the model was perfect but Lola had not mentioned their name. Well, I never cared about such things as long as the model would fit my designs. Handling the rest of the details was Lola’s job.
Thank you for making the arrangements, Lola. Please send the model here as soon as possible.
I replied to her email. The event was growing closer by the day and I did not have much time in hand to prepare. For hours, I continued to talk with Lola via emails and replied to other emails until someone knocked on the door.
“Willow,”
Mia stood in the doorway smiling.
“Hey, come in,”
I smiled, putting the laptop aside.
“I have brought Wyatt and Lori back. They got busy playing with other kids in the pack as soon as they got out of the car. I came up here to chat with you. I am not disturbing you right?”
She made her way inside the room.
“No, actually I am glad you came. I was getting bored. Please have a seat.”
“Thanks, actually I came to see you so that I could share the welcome party date with you. The pack members want to throw the party over the weekend. So please be free that day and please don’t refuse!”
she requested.
“Alright,”
I let out a small laugh. “I will definitely come to the party. It will be a good change of pace for Wyatt and Lori too.”
“Correct,”
Mia chuckled but slowly her smile became nervous, “Umm Willow, Ella will be there too,”
