“Eating my own personal ice cream.”
His hot tongue took a lick at the ice cream on my lips. My eyes widened as my whole body was assaulted by the sparks that showered me with an unimaginable amount of pleasure, playing dirty with my wolf to the point that Ceri was a limp moaning mess in my mind. I was surprised when my whole body reacted wildly to his simple lick causing me to froze due to his sudden close proximity and his bold actions until my sense was knocked back to my brain. I immediately raised my hand to push Reuben away though in reality, he did not move so much as a step away, instead I had to push myself back.
“What the hell are you doing?!”
placing my hand over my lips, I angrily glared at him. My whole face was red hot.
“Can’t you tell?”
Reuben’s lips curled into an evil smile as he shamelessly licked his lips. “How about I repeat it until you understand,”
he began getting closer to me again.
“No,no, no! Stay where you are!”
I growled in a warning while taking a few more steps back in panic but it was not like Reuben to obey me at the time like this when he could take full advantage of me. His strong arms pulled me back into his chest, caging me in.
“What are you doing?! Let go. Let go!”
I wriggled, gritting my teeth, all he did was laugh.
“Why? Let me repeat it so that you have a better understanding,”
he always took pleasure in teasing me but what I realized was that Wyatt and Lori had joined him.
“Yes, daddy, show mommy again!”
Lori chirped with a giggle.
“Lori, let’s give mommy and daddy some privacy,”
Wyatt took Lori’s hand and started to walk away.
“Yes, let’s go to the toy shop,”
Lori grinned, following her brother. My eyes nearly popped out of my skull as I listened to them. How could these children think about giving privacy?! Why even give us privacy?
“Good kids, my children know me well,”
Reuben had a proud smile on his face.
I gave him a venomous glare then called, “Wyatt and Lori, you stop right there. Don’t you dare go there alone. Mommy is coming ”
I paused when someone blocked Wyatt and Lori’s exit. Once I looked up at the person standing in front of them, my eyes widened at a familiar face that I had not seen in six years. Reuben, who was still busy teasing and holding me, cocked his brows at my sudden stillness before frowning at my expression. Following my line of sight, he tilted his head to glance to the side to find Wyatt and Lori standing in front of a man who was none other than Alpha Louis, Reuben’s father.
Reuben’s expression took a one hundred eighty degree turn once he locked eyes with his father. Alpha Louis looked between Reuben and I with wide eyes but once he laid eyes on the two little figures resembling Reuben and I, his eyes grew larger and mouth opened wide.
“Are they are they ”
he choked in his words but my heart dropped in my stomach in horror.
In the Emerald Bright Pack, if there was one wolf that I desperately wanted to avoid, it was Alpha Louis. I had two strong reasons for this. The First being he was an extremely powerful and aggressive Alpha. Some speculated that this demeanor had arisen after the death of his soulmate. He instilled fear in every wolf in the pack, myself included, especially when I was an Omega. My own identity was the second reason I wished to avoid any encounters with Alpha Louis. Despite having Omegas among his pack members, the Alpha considered them lower than dirt. If an Omega made even the smallest mistake, Alpha Louis wouldn’t hesitate to banish them without a second thought.
I successfully evaded Alpha Louis for five years while living in the Emerald Pride Pack. I existed as an invisible presence, unnoticed by most except for fellow Omegas and friends. However, that changed on the day of Reuben’s Alpha ceremony. Reuben was about to be officially declared as the next in line for the Alpha position. It was like a crown prince ceremony. His father intended to pass on his position to Reuben the following year, and this ceremony marked the initial step in that process.
Filled with joy over Reuben’s accomplishment and his future role in leading the pack, I spent half of my day in the pack’s garden. I carefully selected twelve different types of roses to craft a beautiful bouquet. It was a gift I had prepared for Reuben, intending to present it to him later that night when we were going to be alone.
While the high-ranking wolves and Elders attended the ceremony inside the packhouse, I remained in the garden, planning to offer my heartfelt congratulations to my soulmate in my own quiet way later that night. This bouquet represented the love and care I held solely for him. As I finished arranging the precious bouquet, I heard the ceremony drawing to a close. Just as I stood up, I saw Vin approaching me.
His voice held authority as he questioned, “Are you Willow?”
Startled, I nodded, feeling a surge of nerves. It was rare for me to speak to any high-ranking wolf in the pack.
“Alpha Louis is requesting your presence in his office,”
he informed me.
My breath caught in my throat at the news. “Why is the Alpha summoning me?”
I asked, my anxiety evident.
“You’ll find out once you get there. Hurry up, the Alpha doesn’t like to be kept waiting,”
he firmly ordered.
I nodded and quickly made my way up there, feeling a surge of questions running through my brain while simultaneously trying to calm my racing heart. The front entrance of the packhouse was congested due to the ceremony that just finished. So I opted for the back entrance, swiftly ascending the stairs leading to the Alpha’s office.
The office door stood wide open, revealing the Alpha seated behind his desk. My anxiety surged when I sensed his formidable presence even from a distance. Taking a deep breath, I knocked on the door. He lifted his gaze immediately upon my approach. His green eyes scrutinized me for a few moments before signaling me to enter.
I cautiously stepped into the room, halting in the center as the Alpha’s gaze held me in place. He observed me in silence for a few moments. Strangely, his features were an uncanny resemblance to Reuben’s-almost a mirror image, except for the age lines etched upon his father’s face.
“Alpha, you summoned me ”
I began, but before I could finish, he flung a stack of photos onto his desk.
“Is this you?”
His voice was deep and grave as he questioned me.
I took a few hesitant steps closer to the desk as I caught a glimpse of the photos, a chill swept down my spine. There they were-pictures of Reuben and I, riding on his motorcycle around the college campus. Since his expensive car always attracted too much attention, I refused to go to college with him in it so he had bought a bike. Even though the bike was also expensive, due to his stubbornness, I had agreed to sit behind him on the bike but I’d ask him to drop me off at a secluded college entrance, away from prying eyes.
My reasoning had been simple. I did not want to get caught with Reuben as the rumors could reach the Emerald Bright Pack but never in my wildest imagination had I ever thought that the Alpha would have photos of us together.
Fear gripped my heart in a vice. How did the Alpha obtain these pictures? Only a handful of people knew about my relationship with Reuben. Who could have disclosed this to the Alpha?
“Did you not hear me? Is the girl in the photo you?”
he repeated his question, but I was paralyzed by fear, unable to utter a word.
Observing my distress, he leaned back in his chair and continued, “There’s a rumor circulating about Reuben being seen with a girl. Some even claim she’s his hidden girlfriend,”
Alpha paused, giving me a meaningful look, “it’s not you, is it?”
My grip subconsciously tightened around the bouquet. He was sure but he still wanted confirmation. There was no doubt in his inquiry. I could sense it in his eyes. Somehow, he was convinced that there was something between Reuben and me. It dawned on me then why Alpha Louis had orchestrated the ceremony announcing Reuben as the next Alpha before he turned 25. As the next in line for the Alpha position he was pressuring Reuben to find his soulmate or marry to secure the position. Everything seemed orchestrated to unravel the truth behind our relationship. A chilling realization dawned on me, if my mate bond with Reuben were exposed to the Alpha then I would instantly become a rejected she-wolf.
Panic and fear overwhelmed me, leaving me suffocated in my own emotions until Reuben stormed into his father’s office. “What’s happening here?”
His expression was sharp, mirroring his tone, sensing something amiss. He had left his ceremony immediately after it ended, rushing up to his father’s office upon sensing my distress. His arrival added fuel to my fear as Alpha Luise looked at me more suspiciously.
“Why is she in the Alpha’s office?”
