he leaned in close to my ear as his hot breath kissed my sensitive skin. My wolf suddenly awakened in my mind as I felt a forbidden feeling inside me that I hadn’t experienced for the last six years, “You owe me 72 ruts and countless fucks,”

he whispered.

“Dream on!”

I snapped, shoving him away, only to be pinned against the wall under him again.

“Oh… did I forget to add six babies?”

he added.

The room fell into a dead silence as it took a couple of seconds to understand what he meant. Shocked and angry, I wriggled in his hold but failed to break free when confronted with his insane strength. “Let me go!”

I demanded, taking short frustrated breaths. His eyes subconsciously went to my rising and falling chest, my slightly exposed cleavage drawing his attention.

“Since you owe me so much…”

he trailed off, glancing at my breasts then locking eyes with me, “Get ready to pay me back for every single one, Willow. So, don’t run around and make me return again,”

he whispered.

“Like I said, dream on,”

I stared straight into his eyes, “If you are not the same Reuben that I knew six years ago, then I am not the same old Willow you knew. There is no way you can get me back. Even if it costs me my life to escape from you, I am willing to pay that price!”

I declared.

Reuben’s grip on my wrist tightened as his expression turned blank and emotionless. He hated change and challenges as usual he was easily triggered by them. “You are no longer the same old Willow?”

he chuckled softly, “Don’t you understand that only increases my craving for you?”

He slowly let go of my hand and pulled me closer by my waist. I put my hand on his chest in alarm as he said, “So I will love tasting this new flavor of yours.”

Reuben

Leaving Wade Moon Pack territory, I sped away in my black Mercedes, which I had intentionally parked about a kilometer away from their borders before breaking in. I had no intention of exposing my identity as my suspicions had turned out to be true, Willow had kept her soulmate a secret in the past. The memories of encountering Willow again flooded my mind. The way she looked, the fire in her eyes, and the resistance in her voice-all of it made me both frustrated and exhilarated.

Beneath the dark sky and along the deserted streets, I accelerated my car, receiving a call from Oran. “Reuben, where are you?”

His tone carried impatience.

“Driving,”

I replied curtly.

“Driving? You suddenly disappeared, skipped a meeting with the Elders just so you could go for a drive?”

he paused for a second recalling the moment that he had informed me about the plane tickets being booked in Willow’s name right before I left the pack. He gasped “Don’t tell me you broke into Wade Moon to go after Willow. Do you want war…”

“You are so loud,”

I cut him off, “Tell me why you called, or I’ll hang up,”

my hand moved to the button ready to end the call.

“Wait, wait, wait!!!”

Oran’s voice boomed through the speaker. “I called to inform you that I’ve gathered all the information you requested about Willow!”

My hand paused in its motion. The morning after the Alpha Ball, I had tasked Oran with uncovering the details of Willow’s life during the past six years.

“Go ahead, read it to me,”

I said in a composed tone, attempting to ready myself before hearing the information.

The sound of pages turning echoed from the other end of the line before Oran began, “Willow has been residing in Britain for the past six years. That aligns with what Wyatt and Lori mentioned at the shifter hotel. She’s become a prominent fashion designer that has only returned to America for the Alpha Ball as a representative of Alpha Benjamin in the capacity of his adoptive daughter.”

“Adoptive daughter? When did that happen?”

I furrowed my brows. Eleven years ago, when I first encountered Willow in that rogue trafficker’s hideout, she was an orphan and completely alone. I had brought her home with me to the Emerald Bright Pack, since then I knew every little thing about her.

“It seems that Alpha Benjamin adopted her six years ago after she left you,”

Oran explained, uncertainty evident in his tone. “But yes, he’s the one who helped her relocate to Britain,”

he added.

My expression immediately darkened. How dare he send my mate away? So that was why I could never find Willow, regardless of how hard I tried. “Did she change her name in Britain?”

I inquired. I had even searched for Willow in foreign countries through packs connected to friends of mine, but no one seemed to have heard of a woman by that name.

“She did not change her name, but I see she used a stage name everywhere. She never appeared in front of cameras or at any other fashion shows. She remained anonymous except to a select few higher-ranking people and models,”

Oran relayed, reading from the notes, then hesitantly continued, “Reuben… she has been hidden incredibly well for six years with her two children… if this time she escapes then…”

“She will never escape from me now, Oran!”

I growled, the intensity in my voice shook Oran. “I would turn any place that she escaped to into ash until she returned to the path that leads her back to where she belongs, with me,”

my wolf spoke with me, sending shivers down Oran’s spine.

“I… I did not mean that,”

Oran stammered. “You see… Willow thinks that you have betrayed her. She sees you as the one that abandoned after getting her pregnant. She was heartbroken. It seems that she has chosen a new life…”

“She is my life…”

I interrupted him sharply. “She can choose a new life but she will always be my choice and my life.”

Oran remained silent for a moment before asking, “Then what are my orders?”

I stared ahead at the dark road with intensity, saying firmly, “Get me all the information there is about Wade Moon and the Alpha family.”

“The Alpha family?”

Oran asked in surprise. I hung up the phone, speeding towards Emerald Bright Pack while my wolf kept growling in displeasure in my mind.

“We can’t leave her in the Wade Moon Pack,”

my wolf, Dex, grew increasingly impatient, aggressive, and loud, as he vividly recalled the six years we spent without our soulmate. “She has to be with us!”

I just don’t get the pull of cheating exes. The answers no. I stopped reading when I realized another abusive relationship. Ugh.
