Lola POV

I know this is going to sound really weird, but I am finding their jealousy incredibly adorable and hot. It’s in a wolf’s nature to be possessive. And if I were to be in their shoes, I would probably have reacted the same. If not worse. That being said, I like Felix. He and I could be great friends, although I am not sure that being friends is his intention right now. And although he is a charming and nice guy, he is not Zeke and Zane. My bond with them has intensified so much in the past day, it’s uncanny really, almost scary. And the s*xual attraction, oh my goddess.. I didn’t think I would ever be at this point, but I am actually getting antsy to complete the mate bond, how crazy is that? I used to not want a mate at all, and I used to hate them. And now, I find myself wanting to be in their arms all the time. Preferably stark naked while f*cking me senseless. I am getting all hot and heavy at the thought again, so much so that I actually have to remove the blouse I was wearing, leaving me in my tank top. The cool air on my shoulders provides some relief to the warmth brewing within me. As I reach the bottom floor, I see Felix anxiously looking up at me, while Damon is still chatting away at him. He doesn’t seem to register anything Damon is saying, as he walks right up to me and away from Damon, without a warning.

“Lola! Are you OK?!” he breathes out, with a worrisome look on his face. Before I can answer, he catches me off guard by pulling me into a tight embrace. Geez, I knew he liked me and all, but I didn’t know we were on hugging terms already. Oddly and shamefully enough, I get even more hot from his embrace. What the hell is wrong with me? I should only get hot from my mates’ embrace. I pull away from him graciously, keeping my hands on his shoulders which seems like I am comforting him, but I am actually doing it to keep him from embracing me further. “Don’t worry Felix, I am fine. I don’t have a scratch on me” I smile at him reassuringly, while patting his shoulders. He breathes a big sigh of relief, before saying “thank god! I heard there was an entire army after we left..”. “Yeah, there was…” I respond sadly, thinking back at the unnecessary loss of lives. I will never understand the greed and hunger for power some have, willing to risk all those innocent lives solely for their own benefit. I am glad I offered those who were there against their will a way out. Come to think of it, what happened to them? “Dame, what happened to the vampires that stepped out? Are they here? You are keeping them safe I hope?”. Damon chuckles, before replying “I guess you were a bit too… preoccupied to notice…” he drawls with wink. “But they are in this castle, yes. They will be joining for dinner, and are very eager to see you”.

My excitement bubbles, and now I can’t wait to head to the dining hall. “So, what happened?” Felix asks, grabbing my hands. I do my best to ignore the heat creeping up on me, and reply “well.. I fought them..”. Damon snorts, before interjecting “no, she massacred everyone who decided to fight. It was a f*cking bloodbath”. I can hear the pride in his voice when speaking. I, on the other hand, am not so proud of it to be honest. It was a necessity to defend myself and the kingdom and don’t get me wrong – I don’t regret it in the slightest, but I’m not proud of the loss of lives either. I did have fun in the moment, but as the buzz wore off I started thinking about the ones who might still have been there against their will, if there were any. We will never know, though. “I just hate that so many had to die, because their “leader’s” ego got in the way” I mumble softly. Damon comes up to me and gives me a side hug. “They chose to do so, sis. You gave those who were innocent a chance to get out, and that is exactly what a great Queen would do. You did everything you could to prevent innocents from getting harmed”. I smile at him weakly, before he speaks up again. “Felix, would you like to join us for dinner?”. I give Damon a pointed look, as I know exactly why he is doing this. He just loves to get under my mates’ skins. But, he needs to realize this is serious. Damon however just grins at me in return. “Sure” Felix answers cheerfully, while releasing my hands. As Damon drags us to the dining hall, I feel myself getting hotter and hotter. Which is weird, because it’s actually not a particularly hot day. Dragons are hot blooded creatures, but this is something else entirely. I feel the sweat trickling down my back in small beads, and my black dress pants are sticking to my legs. Yuck.

“Is it hot in here?” I ask Damon and Felix, as we walk into the dining hall. They both furrow their brows, before Felix says “no, not really”. We walk up to the table where dad is already sitting, together with Zeke and Zane. As I see my dad staring at Zane’s neck, I blush at the realization that it hasn’t gone unnoticed, and he probably knows what we have been doing in my bedroom. It’s so weird I feel awkward about that, I am 20 years old for goddess’ sake! I blush profusely when sitting down at the table, in between my dad and Damon. Zeke and Zane are sitting across from us, as Felix joins next to them. The tension between them is almost suffocating. Zeke and Zane are sending death glares Felix’ way, and Felix doesn’t seem too fond of them either. ‘Why is his smell all over you?’ Zane mind links me, and I heat up more and more. Beads of sweat are trickling down my legs right about now. ‘Calm down, both of you. He is not a threat, I am with you’. ‘Not that he can tell’ Zane grumbles back. ‘Actually, he can. You have a fresh mark on your neck, don’t you?’. ‘Yes, but my neck isn’t the one he is staring at!’. Glancing at Felix, I notice he is indeed staring at my neck. I suddenly feel very aware of my exposed shoulders and neck, and I heat up even more. My temperature is through the f*cking roof, do I have a fever or something? My tank top is actually starting to get wet from sweating, what is wrong with me?

To my great relief, a dozen of the vampires that stepped out enter the dining hall, and immediately bolt towards me. Saved by the vampires! I stand up to greet them, when they all drop to their knees in front of me. Horrified, I wave for them all to get up “rise, you don’t have to bow for me”. “Yes we do, we owe you our lives, our Queen” one of them pipes up. Their Queen? I must look dumbfounded, as another vampire continues “we would like to pledge our loyalty to you, my Queen. Although we may need to leave the castle grounds soon, we will always be loyal to you”. As the vampire speaks, he glances around nervously. When I do the same, I notice all other dragons in the dining hall are glaring at them. If looks could kill.. Goddess, these poor vampires. First, they have left everything behind in their kingdom, and now they are being bullied in their safe haven. I move towards the center of the room, with all eyes on me. “Now listen up everyone! The vampires you see here, are my guests, OUR guests. They have forsaken their homes and everything they have ever known, to stand with us, rather than stand against us. This kingdom will NOT display the same amount of disrespect, intolerance and fear that the former vampire King has shown. They will be treated as one of us, for as long as they choose to stay with us. If anyone has any problems with that, feel free to address them to me directly” I bellow out to the crowd confidently. I was expecting some resistance, maybe even some arguments right here on the spot. But, to my surprise, everyone remains silent and nods at me. I can tell they are still hesitant, but they are not glaring at the vampires anymore at least.

Getting the message across has taken a toll on me it seems, as I am burning up even more. I am impossibly hot right now, to a point where I feel the need to rip my own clothes off and dive into an ice bath. Sweat is trickling down my forehead even, it’s f*cking disgusting. As I am walking back towards the vampires, I hear some deep sniffing sounds coming from the tables I am passing. As I glance at one of the tables I pass, I see some of the men’s eyes flicker between their usual color and black. Their dragons are fighting for control, what the hell is going on? As I am staring at them dumbfounded, the scent of evergreen and cedarwood invades my senses and I have to bite my lip in order to prevent myself from moaning. What the f*ck? Before I can say or do anything, I am hoisted over Zeke’s broad shoulders, as he runs out the dining hall with Zane hot on our tail. As we reach the main hallway I can hear numerous loud roars erupting from the dining hall. What the f*ck is going on? Do they think they are abducting me or something? “Guys you should put me down, I think they believe you are abducting me”. “No baby girl, you are in heat. Their beasts are fighting for control to mark you”.
