Upon entering his office I notice Lola is already seated on the far left chair, facing towards the left wall and still completely fuming. Her arms are crossed and she is leaning as far away from the other chairs as possible. Ashton, Kendrick, Nigel and I proceed to sit on the other chairs. None of us are talking and the tension is palpable, you could cut it with a knife. “So. Any of you want to start first and care to explain what happened?” the principal speaks with his most authoritative voice. Although my father is in charge of the school (as it is a part of the pack), they have a good relationship together and I know better than to let the principal get any air on what has been happening regarding Lola. My father would immediately be informed and I would never hear the end of the lecture he would give me, not to mention the disappointing looks I would be receiving. My father is a great man, but too soft for his own good and too kind for the weak. When I take over, people will have to learn their place and remember not to mess with the Alpha, especially not those weak females.
Snapping from my thoughts I decide to speak up “there was just an argument between Lola and Ashton, nothing more”. Lola’s head snaps in my direction, with a look on her face indicating she is ready to kill. She is normally always so soft spoken and happy go lucky, this new side of her today is a surprise to say the least. A bad one though. Females need to know their place and obey men. “That is not what I heard from your teacher. Care to try again?” before I can speak up I hear a snort on our left “an argument? Is that what you call beating up a female for no reason, not to mention using your wolf powers?”. Anger flares inside me at her defiance. She should know better than to snitch on us. I will personally teach her a lesson as soon as we step outside of school today. I can feel my wolf fighting for control, but I can’t let him with the principal here, who is giving me a scrutinizing look as it is. I try to keep my cool but then she goes ahead and pipes up again “maybe you should tell the principal how I got my face bashed in a few weeks ago, Chris? Sorry, I mean Alpha” stretching the title to bring across the exact point she is trying to make. That I should be protecting my people. But I don’t owe anyone anything, and especially not defiant little b*tches like her. I can’t help the growl that escapes from my chest and I know my eyes have gone black. The principal is looking at me with intensity, monitoring our interaction, and I know he is connecting the dots. “Care to explain that, Chris? I have been asking Lola about that incident, but she has remained silent until now and I intend to find out why”. This b*tch!
I know I need to say something, anything, to diffuse the situation. But I honestly can’t think of what to say at this moment. Before I can register or try to stop him, Ashton decides to join the proverbial party. Once again reminding me my Beta is all muscle and no brains “look, sir. Lola keeps getting into altercations with us because she keeps disrespecting us. As the ranked members of our pack she needs to show us the respect we are entitled to. And we are rightfully teaching her not to disrespect us”. Well that couldn’t have gone any worse than that, my goddess…. I mind link him ‘you idiot!!!’, while I hear the principal clear his throat, here it comes. “Thank you for your input, Ashton. With that, I have heard enough. All of you except Lola are excused from my office”, giving me a side look that is telling me he is going to talk this through with my father. F*ck. She is so dead once she leaves the school premises tonight!
Lola POV
Chris, Ashton, Nigel and Kendrick droop out of the principal’s office and although it felt good to finally speak up, the look on Chris and Ashton’s faces tell me my time is up. This is war and I will have to watch my back at all times. Thank goddess it is only 1 week left at least until I will be able to heal faster, but this definitely won’t enhance my poor sleeping patterns as of late. And I will still have to survive the entire last year. Especially since I live on my own and will basically be a sitting duck. I guess I’ll have to boobytrap the house like the little kid in home alone. I take a deep breath and sign while slumping my head down, forgetting for a moment that I am not alone in the room. “I wish you would have confided in me sooner Lola. I know it was a tough position considering the future Alpha and Beta are involved, but you know it would have only continued down the same road if they had not been caught in the act today” I can’t help but my mumble softly that it is going to continue now anyway, if I even make it through another day now. I thought I had said that too soft but of course, as a werewolf, the principal caught it. “Young lady I know it is hard for you to trust others, trust me I do. But please allow me to prove to you that you can trust me. I am not deaf, nor blind. I have known what has been going on for years but I have never been able to catch them in a punishable offence. Up until now that is. Of course as the future Alpha and Beta their punishment will be downsized, but rest assured I won’t let this slip and they will leave you alone from now on”.
I look up from my lap and give the principal a sad smile. I appreciate his concern and efforts, but there is no way they are going to stop and especially not after everything that went down today. “Thank you sir, I appreciate the concern” is all I manage to say, while thinking through my situation and what this means. “Don’t thank me Lola, I genuinely care for your wellbeing. I know you are not treated well within this pack and I hope you find genuine happiness one day, may it be within or out of this pack. Also, if you want to take leave for the rest of the day please feel free to do so”. His words actually move me a lot and for the first time since my mother passed I feel tears at the back of my eyes. He is showing me the concern and sympathy I never received from my father. “Thank you sir, I appreciate those words more than you realize” I tell him with a small smile. I get up from my seat and head out. Contemplating for a moment on whether or not I want to take my leave, I decide I will this time. I need to go for a run and some fighting lessons to get my frustration out of the way and to make sure I am physically ready for what is to come. The stronger the body, the better it will recover.
After having completely drained my body with a run and my lessons, I start walking my way home again. Deciding this time to take a different route than normal, in order to avoid coming into contact with anyone from school. It’s quite a detour, but I have completely drained myself and I am exhausted. Walking back I see some messages from Nadia and Jason, asking where I am. I completely forgot to text them and I really should have as they are now worried after what happened a few weeks ago. I reply them both saying I left school early after an altercation with Chris and Ashton, saying I’ll explain in detail later. After the walk is finally over and I have reached home I release a sigh of relief, finally home and what a day this has been. I step inside and lock the door behind me. I head to the bathroom and put on the shower whilst checking my phone from the messages I have missed. I have tons of missed calls from Nadia and Jason, wondering why as I had just texted them earlier. I also see some new messages from both of them. Both of them seem to be anxious to talk to me as I have a few messages from either of them urging me to call them. Finally the last message from Nadia actually conveys the message “girl there are rumors all over school indicating you got into a physical fight with Ashton! Are you all right?! What happened? Do you have any injuries?” and the list of questions about my wellbeing goes on and on. I decide to reply briefly “yeah, I did. But I am all right really, don’t worry. I just got home and am going to take a shower now. Please also tell Jason I’m good as I see a bunch of missed calls from you both”.
Before I can put my phone down, a text message from an unknown number comes in. My curiosity gets the better of me as I open the message to read “you’re dead b*tch”. As I don’t have either of the guy’s numbers it could be from any of them, but I decide I’m not going to reply anyway. Nadia sends another message saying she and Jason are coming over tonight whether I like it or not and I decide it’s time to put my phone down and head for a nice relaxing bath to soothe my score muscles, and perhaps I can think a bit more clearly about what the best course of action is to survive the last week before my shift.
