The question was, did I really want to leave before grandma went back to Ruby Meadows? I decided to visit grandma, and Marion said she was resting. She slept more and more as the days went by, and I knew it wouldn’t be long.

As I was about to leave, I heard her call my name, and I went into her room. “You’re doing alright my boy?” she asked. I nodded my head, and told her Alette and Damian had just left. She seemed to be sad that they left without saying goodbye, but I told her it was sort of last minute and an emergency. She nodded her head, and patted the bed.

I sat down and told her about Alette carrying more than one baby, and she said that mom had told her. She let out a giggle and said, “Your sister thinks it’s just twins, but there is one more.” I looked at her confused and told her that Alette’s wolf, Alaska, confirmed only two, and she reminded me that so did Ruby when mom was carrying the girls. Then they found Asteria later in the pregnancy. I had forgotten all about the story of how they discovered Asteria, but Gran was right.

I kissed my grandma on the forehead, and started to leave. “Maddix, one more thing honey. I think we will be heading back to Ruby Meadows on Saturday. These beds are nice, but I prefer my mattress,” she said. I had to laugh at her sassy attitude, because she was the sassiest I knew.

*ALETTE POV*

Damian is feeling much better today. Yesterday when we got home, it didn’t seem like it. It was probably because of the stress of what we found out and coming home to take care of it. It wasn’t long after we pulled into the pack before he asked me to drop him off at the cell house.

I was not happy about it, but I wasn’t going to argue with him either. He bent over and kissed me deeply, and said I could go to the house. I told him I could stay and help, and he blatantly insisted I go home. I had never had him talked to me that aggressively and I knew that if I kept on pushing, it would lead to a fight.

“Listen, it’s not that I don’t think you can handle it. It’s that you shouldn’t have to. It’s too risky with you being pregnant. As little stress as possible, right?” he asked. I nodded my head and pretended it didn’t bother me, but it did.

One of the guards that I didn’t know helped him from the car and inside the cell house, and I watched as he walked in. I pulled away and ended up parking hte car not far up the road. Alaska was pacing in my head, begging me not to do what I was about to. “Human, you are going to cause more issues for us than we need right now. Turn the car back on and go home like mate said,” she barked at me. However, something kept nagging me to be there.

I punched the steering wheel a few times, and let out a scream. “Alaska, I’m sorry, I have to go. I need to see who did this to him. No, I HAVE to see,” I whispered. I left the car and walked swiftly back to the cell house.

Walking in the smell amonia and bleach burned my nose. The metallic undertones from cleaned up blood that had been saturating the cement floors made my stomach turn. “I told you this was a bad idea,” Alaska snapped.

Ignoring her I walked on. I was stopped by one of the guards, and I lied and told him the Alpha had called for me. He fell into my trap, because he pointed me to the direction I needed to be going. I thanked him and walked stoicly down the hall. I let out the breath that I had been holding, and moved faster towards the raised voices I was heading towards.

I could only make out 3 of the voices. That is until I heard a loud booming voice demanding the woman, Ingrid to speak. That loud voice came from my brother River. Why was he doing interrogation?

I got my answer rather quickly as I could now see the group in the see through enclosed room. Caleb, River’s mate and our Gamma was knocked out on the floor with a claw mark across his face. I’m assuming River took over where Caleb left off.

“You thought you were funny didn’t you? Swiping at my mate as he was chaining you to that chair. Did you seriously think you would get anywhere by doing that? All you have done is cause a bigger shit pot of a mess, and trust me, the cleanup of this mess doesn’t fair well for either of you dumbasses,” I heard my brother threaten.

Before he could lose control, Damian asked him to back away. He did as he was asked, and kneeled down next to Caleb. He had torn his shirt, and was using a piece to wipe the blood from Caleb’s cheek.

Damian was glaring at the couple sitting in front of him, and crossed his arms over his chest. I stayed hidden, or so I thought, because while not breaking his gaze with the couple, he bellowed my name. “ALETTE! You might as well come in since you disobeyed me. Something we will definitely discuss later.” I felt my heart fall to my stomach, and I listened to what he said.

I came around the corner, and stood beside him. Still without looking at me, he pointed to a chair in the corner of the room. While gritting his teeth he ordered me to sit. I knew he was pissed, and I had just made it so much worse.
