I made the next attack, but he moved, causing me to bite into his side. He yelped as I pulled away flesh, but it didn’t slow him. He turned and attacked instantly. It was so fast that I didn’t even see him turn. He bit into my shoulder and ripped it open, and with a swift twist of his head, he bit into my neck. He missed my jugular, but I was bleeding badly.

He was going in to finish me off, when a humongous dark wolf I recognized knocked him off. In seconds, the dark wolf had him on the ground and ripping his head off his shoulders. It was Buck.

I started to lose consciousness when I noticed that Buck was joined by a silver wolf that was larger than he was. Maddix. Once Jackson was officially dead, and his men were all dead too. I didn’t know how or what happened, but I needed to get to a hospital. Otherwise, I would never know.

*MADDIX POV*

I had just pulled into the Spirit Mountain pack when I saw one hell of a fight going on. I stopped the car quickly in front of the pack house and ordered Peter to get Riley and Willow to safety. As they entered the house, I saw Alette gathering women, children and the elderly inside. There was a large burly man helping her, and eventually the pack door shut.

I joined in the fight, but holy shit! There are so many of them. The more we finish off, the more comes out of the woodwork. Almost everyone around us has shifted, and I notice that there aren’t just wolves fighting with us. I have seen at least 15 werebears, and at least 10 werecats. This must have been what Buck meant during one of our recent conversations.

He and I were discussing the state of the warriors and how many they had. He made the comment that they had over 100 warriors, but there were reinforcements that didn’t live in the pack, but were part of a tribe instead. He didn’t elaborate, but after all this, I may need him to.

My eyes searched everywhere for Damian, and eventually found him. It looked as if he was trying to negotiate with Jackson Issacs. I tried to move closer towards where he was, but wolves just kept coming at me. Buck was fighting close to me, and they were coming at him 3 and 4 at a time. He was quickly ending them, and moving on to the next. He was trying to get closer to Damian, but our attackers were making it difficult.

Buck’s dark fur was matted with blood, but I couldn’t make out if it was his or from another wolf. I saw my dads on my left and I had to laugh at myself. Even at their age, they were still just as fierce. No matter how old I got, they still frightened me when they were in fight mode.

I was attacked from behind while distracted by my dads, and I was struggling to fight him off my back. He was strong and vicious. He kept trying to go for my throat, but I was able to defend it. Franz wanted to use his powers, but I asked him to wait. I didn’t want to use it in another pack unless Damian was in trouble.

I had only used it a handful of times, and I was still unsure about it, but if I needed to, I would. I linked my mom, and asked her if I should, and she said that if it was bad, or life or death to a higher rank, then yes, I needed to. She reminded me not to be ashamed or worry about it making me a target. The moon Goddess gave Franz to me for a reason, and he was special. It wouldn’t affect our fighters or Jackson, and if he had higher ranks with him, it wouldn’t affect them either. It would, however, kill any of his warriors left standing.

Our attackers were moving more away from us, and closer towards Damian and Jackson. They were going to ambush my brother-in-law. Our warriors were still fighting them off, but they were determined to get to where Damian and his opponent were. I ran towards the crowd. The crowd of attackers getting to Damian wasn’t an option.

My dad, Loki, ran beside me and told me I knew what I needed to do. Franz nodded his head and sat back on his haunches. We closed our eyes to summon the power. When we felt the energy in full effect, Franz opened his eyes, and they were glowing red. He pulled all the energy from the power into his throat and let out a glass-shattering roar. It shook the ground beneath us, and our attackers started to fall to the ground dead.

Now that Buck was free from being attacked, he ran as fast as he could to where Damian and Jackson were fighting. Jackson had ripped gashes into Damian’s side and hit him in the neck. Damian was losing so much blood. Buck and I pounced on Jackson and Buck ripped his head from his shoulders. I made my way to Damian, and he was now in his human form. He was pale, and the blood was still pouring out of him.

Our dad, Liam, picked Damian up and started to run back towards the pack hospital. I don’t think anyone other than my dads or Buck is big enough to handle that task, but they got him to where he needed to be in haste.

No sooner had they got Damian into the hospital, my sisters and mom came rushing in. The doctors had to nearly fight my mother and sisters to keep them away from the room while they worked on Damian. Zion was much too weak to heal him, and if he lost any more blood, he would surely die.

“You fuckers don’t understand! We can heal him! We don’t need you to do anything other than give him blood!” my mom was yelling. Alette was a hot mess, and Addie and Asteria were trying to calm her. I truthfully don’t even know when Addie and Asteria even got to Spirit Mountain. I didn’t even see Simon or Miles fighting. It didn’t matter though. They are here now, and ready to help both Lette and Damian.

Alette refused to move from the spot by the doors leading to the room they were in while working on Damian. He was her safe zone, and right now, she couldn’t be his because she was shut out. Anyone who tried to join her she screamed at them to leave her, but one unlikely person refused. Damian’s Gamma, Caleb Bravebird.
