Chapter 895 – A Second Chance with My Billionaire Love

“Huh?” Yvette looked up, flattered.

While the average people might generally find that kind of thing fun, it might seem disrespectful to the Baldwin family. No parent wanted to see their future daughters-in-law use such tricks to control their sons.

“You didn’t do it on purpose, but it was a happy coincidence. You did me a great favor.”

Sophia looked at the bedroom. Although it was quiet, endless guesses formed in her mind. She couldn’t stop grinning.

She felt that God was on her side. She had always thought that Justin and Flossie were too polite with each other, like ordinary friends. They didn’t seem like a couple at all, lacking the kind of intimacy common among lovers about to get married.

She was even wondering how she could help them get closer mentally and physically. Sophia even had a lousy idea of getting them drunk and sending them to the same room. Then, everything would happen smoothly. However, that was hard to carry out. After all, the Baldwin family came with strict family rules. If Austin knew, it would lead to a catastrophe. Yet, the aromatherapist had done that for her. Its success wasn’t important, either. If it was successful, Austin couldn’t blame her since she was innocent.

Undeniably, it was an advantageous affair.

“Okay, just go. I’ll deal with the rest.”

Sophia hurriedly made them leave for fear that they might disturb the lovey-dovey young couple in the room.

As the day gradually darkened, the West Chamber grew quiet and mysterious.

Sophia checked her watch. Feeling that Flossie and Justin’s romantic moment would last for quite a while, she returned to the dining room.

A sumptuous feast was served in the dining room. Both Austin and Jack had taken their seats. They were a little unhappy when they noticed Sophia return to the dining room alone.

“Why aren’t they coming? The food is getting cold.” Jack started complaining. “Is Flossie that conceited? She can’t be so rude for the first meal. How can she make us wait for her? This is unacceptable.”

“Shut up!” Austin glared at Jack and berated him. “You always eat on your own, and you never wait for me. Why are you pretending to be a good son today?”

“No, Dad. I think…”

“Flossie suffered a lot these days. I’m aware of the Jenkins family. They’re inhumane barbarians. They do all kinds of messy things and are not governed by law. She must have gone through a lot there. She finally escaped from hell and wanted to take a good rest. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it. Stop finding fault with her,” Austin said grumpily.

As Flossie was Maurice’s granddaughter, Austin favored her and tolerated her without boundaries.

He had always valued prudence, but he felt that it was fine even if Flossie didn’t dine with them as long as she willingly married Justin.

“Dad’s right. You love to put on airs. Stop being so old-fashioned ! Does she have to serve and greet you? Honestly, Flossie wouldn’t take you seriously if it weren’t for Justin. You’re a nobody to her. How dare you try to teach her a lesson? You’re just a male chauvinist!” Sophia chided her husband, not holding back.

She and Flossie were women. In the past, she led an oppressive life in that house since the Baldwin family was strong and old-fashioned. Her mother-in-law made things difficult for her, and her father-in-law suppressed her. In addition, her husband berated her often. Sophia didn’t want her future daughter-in-law to lead the same miserable life.

“We like Flossie. We don’t need a daughter-in-law who serves us. We like her because of her character. If she doesn’t keep her true nature, it’s contradictory. Let her sleep if she wants. It’s fine even if she doesn’t want to eat with us. She can eat in the West Chamber. Why do we have to force her?”

After listening to her sincere suggestion, Austin clapped. “Yes, you’re right. They can lead the life they want as long as nothing goes wrong. These insincere rules aren’t for them.”

“You guys…” Jack felt dizzy; he wondered why they took the same side. It wasn’t usually the case. He couldn’t fit in.

His extremely strict father had always stressed that the most important things for his daughter-in-law were rules and regulations.

Tsk! What double standards!

Sophia checked her watch from time to time, then said meaningfully, “I think they won’t come to eat anytime soon. We should eat first.”

Austin, sharp as always, noticed something amiss and asked seriously, “What’s going on? What’s taking them so long? What did you do to Flossie just now?”

“Dad, stop looking at me like that. You got the wrong idea. I did nothing. I just…”

Sophia, feeling guilty, averted her gaze. She couldn’t face anyone else at the dining table.

Then she added in a whisper, “It’s just that… It’s written in the stars.”

“What happened? What are you saying?” Austin grew more solemn. Worried his insensible daughter-in-law might do something outrageous and hurt his future granddaughter-in- law, he said fiercely, “Hurry up and tell me! If not, I’m going to punish you.”

“Please don’t! I’ll tell you everything. Don’t always talk about punishing me. I’m getting old, and I can’t stand that.”

Sophia grew frightened. She retreated, ready to run away at any minute.

“I prepared a head-to-toe treatment for Flossie to relax. But… One of the aromatherapists made a mistake and gave a chance to the young couple. So, I think we should eat first. We shouldn’t disturb them.”

Austin didn’t let it go. “What kind of mistake?”

“Uh… The aromatherapist used an arousal-inducing spice. Plus, they’re young. I’m sure they’re lovey-dovey right now. They won’t be in the mood for dinner,” Sophia replied meaningfully.

She believed Austin and her husband would understand. After all, they had been young once. “What? Did you drug them?” Jack snapped.

Austin was still trying to understand Sophia’s words when Jack spoke up loudly.

“Drugged? What do you mean?” Austin had never engaged in ambiguous relationships with other women since he was rather old-fashioned, so he couldn’t understand his son and daughter-in-law. Even so, he could tell what had happened.

Complicated feelings gripped him. After a pause, he said vaguely, “So, they’re getting closer to each other now?”

“Yes, that’s right.” Sophia snapped her fingers, finally feeling less guilty. With a smile, she added, “Dad, you were young once. You must know it’s not easy for them to get closer to each other. Let’s not wait for them. If everything goes smoothly, you might get a great- grandson soon.”

“Well…”

Austin was still hesitant. On one hand, he found such a method shameful. On the other hand, he felt that it might be the best way to help Flossie and his disappointing grandson be more lovey-dovey.

When he heard Sophia mention a potential great-grandson, he was moved and his hesitation subsided.

“That’s great! After all, they’re going to get married and have kids. It’s better to have it done early. If they have kids sooner, I can help them take care of the kids. We’re still strong.”

“Dad, you can understand me. We’re now on the same side. I want a grandson too!”

Since Austin agreed with Sophia, Sophia became quite excited as if he were her long-lost comrade. She nearly shook hands with him and hugged him.

“Fine. Let’s eat and not wait for them.” Austin said.

Having reached a consensus, they started enjoying dinner happily without blaming anyone.

During the meal, Sophia asked eagerly, “If we can get a grandson, what should we name him?”.

“Baby…baby Baldwin. He’ll be the baby for every Baldwin!”

Austin was always a solemn man, but he grinned heartily when he thought about his future great-grandson. He didn’t look serious at all.

“Baby Baldwin? Don’t joke around. I think we need to come up with a name that has a good message.”

At first, Jack didn’t join their conversation because he found drugging others a very shameful trick. Still, he couldn’t help chiming in when he heard them talk about the baby. “What kind of name has a good meaning?” Sophia sounded dissatisfied. “I think the name we got for Justin isn’t good. It made him wild and uncontrollable, like the wind.”

Her son was always insensible and casual, and she felt that it was most probably because of his name. Justin was as fickle and unmanageable as the wind. He always stayed away from home all year round, and was incredibly rebellious.

“I agree. Justin isn’t serious since we didn’t get a good name for him, so we need to be careful when picking a name for our grandson. We need a name that makes others feel that he’s solemn and quiet. Let me think…”

Jack closed his eyes and thought seriously.

After a long time, he said solemnly, “I want him to grow up to be a serious man. Let’s call him Ernest Baldwin.”
