Chapter 886 – A Second Chance with My Billionaire Love

“Stop fantasizing! Flossie won’t go there with you,” Xavier said. He found Justin’s plan ridiculous.” I don’t believe you. Has Flossie ever said yes? You keep saying you were going to do something big, but you might not even get anything out of it.”

“It’s not up to you whether she’ll say yes or not.” Justin was indifferent toward Xavier’s mockery. He seemed to be very confident, his eyes cold. “I told you that because I wanted you to pass the message to Halston. I’m not trying to take advantage of the situation, because I already gave him a chance to win her back.”

“Then, I need to thank you on Halston’s behalf.” Xavier didn’t take Justin seriously at all, and instead waved provocatively at him. “We’ll talk about that once you make Flossie say yes. Bye!” Back in the guest room, Xavier held his phone, hesitating. In the end, he called Halston.

“What’s the matter?” Halston barked, his tone cold and emotionless. Knowing that Xavier and Justin had saved Flossie and the others, he was relieved. Hence, he didn’t ask too much about that. He had done everything he could. When he got the news that Flossie and the others were in danger, he contacted Xavier before Justin went for the rescue. He also held himself back from doing things he couldn’t.

“Flossie and the others are fine at the moment, but something happened. Mr. Osborne blocked the knife for Ms. Amber Jenkins. He nearly got killed, but is fine now. Everything’s good,” Xavier said, explaining to Halston everything that happened that day again.

“That’s good.” Halston remained cold, as if this concerned people unrelated to him.

His coldness upset Xavier. “Seriously, Halston. No one else is around. Stop pretending! What’s going on between you and Flossie? She nearly got killed, but you didn’t come to rescue her. Instead, you gave the chance to your rival in love. Do you want her to be with another man?”

“Justin seems more reliable in comparison to Jovan and Liam,” Halston said icily he made an excellent point about Justin.

“What?” For a moment, Xavier got so angry that he was dumbstruck. He rolled his eyes, like Leia usually did, and complained, “Oh, you’re so generous! You’re trying to pick a man for Flossie. What’s wrong with you? Will you even bear witness to their wedding day?”

“I’m fine with that if she needs that,” Halston replied calmly.

He could watch her gain happiness since he couldn’t give her any.

“Fine, you’re generous. You’ve got guts. You can’t keep your wife, so you pick a guy for her. I’ve got to hand it to you.” Xavier wanted to stop talking to Halston for fear that he might scold the latter. “Listen-Justin is going to bring Flossie to his parents. They’ll get married if nothing goes wrong. I think… If you can’t part with her, you should speak your mind!”

Nothing went wrong that night.

Flossie and Leia slept soundly after such an exhausting day. The next morning, a servant of the fort woke them up early.

“Ms. Ellsworth, Ms. Osborne, Mr. Osborne is awake. You can visit him.”

“Great! Liam’s awake!” When Leia heard that news, she got out of bed and quickly washed up.

Flossie, finally relieved, breathed a sigh.

They reached Liam’s room as quickly as they could. There, armed guards were around, guarding the place fiercely.

“What’s going on? Do they take Liam as a criminal?” Leia was furious to see it. She wanted to demand an explanation from those guards, but Flossie stopped her.

They had to bow down since they were staying in Benjamin’s territory. It was up to him to treat them politely or otherwise. Even if they were locked up like prisoners, it was only expected.

Liam had just regained consciousness and was seriously injured. If they offended Benjamin, he and the others would only suffer.

Liam leaned against the head of the bed in the room. His lips were pale, and he looked dispirited.

Amber was carrying a bowl of oatmeal, feeding it to him gently and carefully. “Liam, I made this oatmeal without any unnecessary ingredients. Eat more to get your energy back.”

“I don’t feel like eating.” Liam’s mood was stormy-he didn’t even look at the oatmeal. Specifically, he didn’t want to look at Amber.

For some unknown reason, complicated emotions washed over him when he woke up and saw Amber staying by his side.

He recalled how he had subconsciously blocked the knife for her to protect her. He assumed that he could control everything, only to find out that he had failed in the end. The feeling of helplessness and weakness drove him mad.

“No, you should eat some.” Amber bit her lip, teary. “You lost too much blood for saving me last night. You’re weak. If you don’t eat anything, you’ll get weaker.”

“I didn’t do that to save you!”

Liam looked at her as if his sore spot had been exposed. He didn’t want anyone to know that. Agitated, he stressed his point, “I did that subconsciously. Even if it were someone else, I wouldn’t want them to get hurt, either. It didn’t mean that you were important to me. I hope you understand.”

“I…” Amber didn’t expect such agitation from Liam. Her heart skipped a beat as she retreated and said, “I understand. You didn’t do that to save me. You’re a nice guy. You just happened to save me. I’m not that special to you.”

“I’m glad you understand.” Liam relaxed a bit, but was still indifferent toward her. “Don’t thank me or hold any expectation toward me. As always, I see you as my younger sister.” “Got it.” Amber nodded firmly. “I see you as my older brother, too. Don’t get me wrong. I won’t have any ideas about you, either.”

Amber’s emphasis made both of them awkward. It seemed like Liam had flattered himself.

Flossie and Leia happened to run into that scene when they opened the door. Feeling out of place, they wanted to leave and hide.

Finally, Flossie walked over and faked a smile despite the stiffness in the air. “Hahaha! Liam, I’m glad that you’re awake!”

“Flossie…” Liam’s facade faded as he blinked. “Why didn’t you tell me you were coming?”

“We did, but you guys were so absorbed in talking to each other that you didn’t hear us,” Leia eagerly explained.

There was a screen between the bed and the door. A servant informed Liam and Amber about the visitors, but they didn’t hear that since they were absorbed in their conflict.

Thus, Flossie and Leia were forced to watch an awkward romance. They found it stifling, just like Liam and Amber.

“Okay. Let’s not talk about that.”

Liam didn’t want to recall that awkward scene and changed the topic. “I was just stabbed. Stop making a big fuss over it. And don’t worry, I’ll be fine in a few days.”

“No, you’re wrong!” Leia was still worried sick. She carefully sized up Liam’s wound. “You scared me out of my wits last night! Your heart was stabbed, and you fainted on the spot. Plus, you lost a lot of blood. If Gem didn’t donate her blood to you, you would have long been dead.”

“What?” Surprised, Liam looked at Amber. His expression grew more complicated. “You suffered so much yesterday, but you donated your blood to me.”

“I’m fine.” Amber cutely moved her arms and smiled gently. “I’m the only one in the fort with an O blood type. Plus, you got hurt from saving me. Shouldn’t I donate my blood to you?

“How are you feeling right now?” Liam frowned, wishing he could check Amber’s body.” You’re already weak and your crazy father tortured you, but you still donated your blood to me. You should rest now instead of doing stuff like making oatmeal for me.”

He looked passionate, but in truth, he was heartless. He was worried she might have expectations about him. He had finally made her give her up, but if such a simple girl fell for him again because of this, he would feel very stressed.

Liam knew how cold and unreliable he could be. It was fine if she wanted to be his friend or family, but she mustn’t love him or rely on him as if he were her future husband.

If not, she would get hurt in the end.

“I’m fine. I made oatmeal for you as thanks. I don’t want to owe you a favor.”

Being smart, Amber could tell that Liam was purposely trying to keep some distance from her for fear that she might pester him again.

“You saved me. I donated my blood to you and made you oatmeal, so we’re even. I’ll go now. “Amber politely nodded at him and placed the bowl of oatmeal in Flossie’s hands. “Ms. Ellsworth, Liam always listens to you. Take care of him and watch him eat this. You guys can leave when he’s recovered.”

“What? We can leave?” Leia couldn’t believe her ears. Surprised, she asked again, “Are you sure? Did your crazy dad finally agree to let us go?”

“It was just a test from my father. He had seen through people. He wouldn’t make things difficult for the people who were nice to me,” Amber explained.

She knew what kind of a person her father was. At this point, she didn’t want to keep it from Flossie and the others either. She felt that it was more important to reassure them.

“So, it really was a test!” Leia was enlightened, but failed to understand Benjamin. “Is he out of his mind? He didn’t have to make it seem so real! If Liam didn’t block the knife for you, he would have lost you!”

Leia was filled with lingering fear when she recalled the terrifying scene yesterday.

Benjamin’s madness surprised her. He could even be harsh on his daughter! At the same time, Leia mocked Mateo’s fake passion. He said so much, but he could still attack his so- called beloved woman at that critical moment.

What amazed her the most was Liam. He claimed that he didn’t love Amber, but he was the one who used his chest to block the attack for her. It was contradictory.
