However, Macsen proved her wrong. He claimed that he loved his girlfriend and planned for six years to take revenge on the culprit, but was still eager to sleep with another woman.
It was gross!
Macsen looked disappointed. “Are you unwilling?”
He was disappointed that he couldn’t have some fun with his enemy’s lover, and resented that Halston was so lucky to have a woman who loved him deeply. She wouldn’t betray him even when she was about to die.
“Yeah, I’m not. Aren’t you disgusted?” Flossie retorted.
Disgust overcame Flossie. She found Macsen pathetic.
“You claimed that you love your girlfriend, but you married Luneth. You married her and got a kid. Now, you want to be intimate with the woman you’ve just met. Do men think that love is just a trivial thing?”
“How could you…” Macsen was stunned. He didn’t expect her to say that so directly. Guilty, he retorted, “You don’t know anything! Men’s love is different from women’s love.”
“What’s the difference?” Flossie snorted and shot him a disdainful stare. “Yeah, it’s different. Women are superior human beings. Once they fall in love with someone, they’ll never sleep with another man. But men are different. Men are simply animals. They can love many people and sleep with different women. Maybe men and women shouldn’t exist at the same time. Then, there won’t be so many heartbroken women.”
“I disagree!” Macsen rolled up his sleeves, turning competitive because of Flossie’s words. “You make it sound like only men will have a change of heart. Women are the same. Most of them are disloyal. If not, how can cheating couples exist?’
“In terms of probability, men cheat on their lovers more than women.”
“Did you ever look into that? Can you make such a claim?”
Macsen continued seriously, “You’re righteous and loyal yourself, so you assume that all women are the same. You know what? The women who cheat on their husbands are quite arrogant. If you know, you’ll be too embarrassed to make that biased claim!”
“That’s not important!” Flossie snapped.
She couldn’t understand why she started arguing with Macsen about who was better, men or women. After all, she was under his mercy. A helpless sigh escaped her.
“In short, I’ll never agree to your request. If you want to kill us to take revenge, you can stream it all you want. That’ll have a greater impact. However…” Flossie paused and laughed at herself. “Halston doesn’t care about me. He won’t feel anything even if I hang myself in front of him, let alone when you kill me live. He’ll just be indifferent.” After a long contemplation, Flossie was finally enlightened. She saw men’s true colors from Macsen-they were all heartless creatures. Halston wouldn’t be so much better either.
Whether she was killed or not wouldn’t affect Halston in the slightest. There was no need for her to fight Macsen. She would just accept her fate.
“I can’t read you.” Macsen studied Flossie, finding her more and more interesting.
If it weren’t for Halston, he might want to befriend her. Unfortunately, she was Halston’s most beloved woman. Since she had run into Macsen, a calamity would surely follow.
“No, I’m not. I’m just a normal person with terrible luck in love. If you want to kill me because of Halston, I’ll just accept it. Do it!”
Flossie closed her eyes, tired from struggling. She was exhausted and just wanted to get it over with quickly.
“Well, you’re bold. A pity that…you fell in love with such a cruel man like Halston!”
Macsen took a deep breath and waved melancholicly. Then, he instructed someone to push Flossie into the river.
Flossie neither resisted nor tried to stall for time. She just wanted to get it over with. Having seen through men and human nature, she suddenly became pessimistic.
Macsen’s subordinate grabbed Flossie and dragged her to the river bank. Before he was about to push her into the river, a dazzling light ruined the darkness and oppresiveness of the jetty.
“I knew it was you, Macsen!” a furious voice resonated in the air.
Liam, holding a floodlight, shone it into Macsen’s eyes.
“You and I aren’t enemies! Why did you target me? Do you know how important these two people are to me?” he growled fiercely.
Mateo followed closely behind. At first, he watched everything in silence. Eventually, he said something to sow discord between them. “Macsen, why couldn’t you talk it out with us? You secretly kidnapped them and tried to push them into the river. Don’t you know their background? Are you asking for trouble?”
Macsen used the back of his hand to block the dazzling light and finally saw Liam and Mateo. He raised his chin arrogantly and said icily, “This is personal. Stay out of it, or you’ll suffer.”
“Why? Do you want to push Liam into the river too? You must be out of your mind!” Mateo said, trying to make things worse.
“That’s right.” Macsen glanced at Flossie, who was still standing on the river bank. He gnashed his teeth. “I must kill her today. If anyone stops me, I’ll kill them too!”
He had yet to take revenge. There was such a great chance, and he was full of hate. Any shred of sanity in him was gone.
“Macsen, I have to tell you this. Liam’s the only son of the Osborne family from Beach City. And the beauty you kidnapped isn’t an ordinary person-she is the beloved woman of Halston Guajardo, the president of Guajardo Enterprise. Don’t you know about the business deals between Master Benjamin and the Guajardos going on these two years? The Guajardos brought great benefits to Master. If you harm Halston’s woman, you’re standing against Master. Are you trying to rebel against him?”
Mateo had always been aware of the grudge between Macsen and Halston. On the surface, he said those words to calm Macsen down. In truth, he was trying to paint Macsen as Benjamin’s enemy to gain benefits for himself.
“Yes, I know that this woman is Halston’s most beloved. If not, I wouldn’t have brought her here,” Macsen sneered. She harmed my son. Logically, I should just punish her physically. Unfortunately, she’s Halston’s beloved. I have to do more to get the joy of revenge.”
“So you hold a grudge against Halston!” Liam said.
Seeing Macsen’s twisted face, Liam suddenly recalled the rumors about the grudge between Macsen and Halston. He inevitably sighed.
Previously, he heard that Halston had humiliated Macsen’s first love. In the end, she jumped off the building and killed herself in resentment. Macsen had always held a grudge against Halston because of that, desiring revenge. However, he was weak. To stabilize his power, he could only marry Luneth, Benjamin’s younger sister.
“Hmph! Now you know. There’s a blood feud between Halston and me. I joined the Jenkins family to take revenge one day and kill him!” Macsen growled.
Macsen clenched his fists, agitated.
For many years, he was mainly responsible for the armed forces of the fort. On the other hand, Benjamin instructed his adopted sons to take care of his business.
Previously, Guajardo Enterprise promised the Jenkins family many profits under the condition that Flossie and Joanne could leave the fort safely. Hence, Benjamin let them go at that critical point despite the humiliation he faced.
Afterward, Halston continued his close cooperation with the Jenkins family. While this happened, the relationship between Macsen and Benjamin grew tenser. Gradually, Macsen kept gathering power to surpass Benjamin one day and take revenge on Halston.
Flossie and Leia’s sudden arrival at the fort was beyond Macsen’s expectations. Although he was getting stronger, he wasn’t powerful enough to fight Benjamin and the Guajardos. Despite this, he naturally wouldn’t give up such a good chance easily.
Macsen’s revenge was the result of his impulsiveness. He had been reckless, all because of his first love. His hatred blinded him and made him rash.
Macsen’s eyes were teary. He gritted his teeth and screamed at his subordinate who was controlling Flossie,” What are you standing there for? Do it now!”
“Uh… This….” Macsen’s subordinate looked at Macsen, then at Liam with fear.
Macsen, Mateo, and Liam were considered powerful people in the fort. He couldn’t afford to offend either of them.
“Why? Are you going to disobey me?!” Wrath overcame Macsen. He suddenly fished out a gun and aimed it at his subordinate’s head, then fired it without hesitation.
“Ahhh!” Flossie screamed when she felt some liquid splashed on her face. The next second, Macsen’s subordinate swayed backward and fell into the vast river.
That man was killed so easily, at the border connecting several countries-a place full of darkness, sin, and insanity. Here, lives were trivial.
“You’re out of your mind!” Flossie teared up instantly and cried out hysterically, “You value your girlfriend but not others. His life was valuable too! It wasn’t easy for his mother to raise him. Do you know how much effort she must have put in?”
As a mother, Flossie knew how tough it was to raise a child. She valued people’s lives though she was once a top killer. She couldn’t accept killing people easily.
“You’re the worst of mankind! You should go to hell!”
Furious, Flossie rushed toward Macsen fiercely, dragging the heavy sandbag.
“What do you want? I’m warning you! Stay away from me, or I won’t go easy on you!”
For an unknown reason, a chill ran down Macsen’s spine when he saw how fierce Flossie looked. He wondered why she was that fierce. She could walk fast even when dragging a sandbag over 110 pounds-she wasn’t ordinary.
