Chapter 869 – A Second Chance with My Billionaire Love

“Why two to three nights? Not ten days or half a month?” Lela felt that it was impossible to be locked up forever, but it also seemed impossible to be freed in just two to three days.

“It’s because they’re fighting Liam. Mateo wouldn’t win, since this trick is useless for Liam. He might even hurt himself in the process. He’ll get impatient if Liam can keep calm. He can only let us go.”

When Flossie spoke with Mateo, she learned that he was a greedy but cautious man. He wasn’t completely wicked, so he didn’t dare to make a big fuss out of things. When the time came, he would let them go.

Thus, Flossie wasn’t worried at all.

“Really?” Leia instantly breathed a sigh of relief, “I can wait if it’s only for two to three days. If it’s one day longer, I’ll go insanel

“Fine, I know you’re bored. Read the comic with me. The comics here are pretty interesting. Check this out…” Flossie got closer to Leia, sharing the comic book to distract her.

They lay in bed together and read the comic to kill time. In half an hour, Leia started feeling sleepy and soon dozed off.

Flossie was sleepy too, and looked around vigilantly before deciding to take a brief rest. However, she hadn’t laid down for long when she heard footsteps getting closer to the room.

She wondered who it was. Although she was lying and her eyes were closed, she could sense someone hiding in the dark and observing them closely with a gaze of fierceness and hatred.

After a while, the footsteps grew fainter. It seemed the person had gone away.

Flossie abruptly opened her eyes and looked out of the room. There was nothing strange except for a few guards. She wondered if she was mistaken.

Based on her experiences, she knew she wouldn’t be wrong. A dangerous person had come to watch them secretly and might act soon.

When Flossie laid down to sleep once again, someone came with an iron rod to hit the jail bars -just as she had expected.

Wake up, you two!” The speaker was arrogant and impatient, as if he were the head of the prison guards and regarded them as criminals.

Who dares to disturb my sleep? Are you asking for trouble?” Leia, who had dozed off, was awakened. She was livid that her beauty sleep was disturbed.

“Get ready! You can leave now,” the man at the door barked fiercely.

“Huh? We can go?” Stunned, Leia’s anger subsided when she heard that. She happily took Flossie’s hand. “Did you hear that, Flossie? We can go now! We’re finally freed! It’s not even three or five days. Well, they’re sensible. Just for this, I’ll kindly not find fault with them.”

We can go now? That’s quick.” Flossie wasn’t as overjoyed as Leia. Instead, she was worried.

Based on her speculations, Mateo wouldn’t admit to defeat that fast. He would fight Liam for at least three or two days. It seemed illogical for him to let them go at this moment.

Yeah, we can go out now. Aren’t you happy, Flossie?”

Leia put on her clothes and smoothed her hair. She grabbed two comic books.

“Let’s get out of here! It’s more comfortable to sleep in the big bed in the guest room… Huh? Flossie, why aren’t you moving?”

Leia turned and looked at Flossie, who was sitting in bed looking solemn and vigilant. She found it strange.

“I think this is weird,” Flossie said solemnly, frowning as she looked at the door of the jail.

“What’s so weird about it?’ Leia became confused again. Unlike Flossie, she was eager to leave. “Don’t you want to go out? The world outside is great! If it weren’t for Liam, I would have run away. I think it’s normal for them to let us go now.”

“They might not want to let us go,” Flossie said coldly, flexing her fingers. “Logically, Mateo wouldn’t admit to defeat so soon. I think there might be someone else who wants us to leave.”

*Someone else?” Leia found herself unable to accept such a thing and grew even more confused. “Who else wants to make things difficult for us in this fort except for Mateo? Is it Amber…? That doesn’t seem like it. Who dares to target us by risking the possibility of offending Liam?”

Leia knew Liam was considered powerful and influential in the fort. Besides, Amber was a simple young woman. No one else would find fault with them except for Mateo, who used them to bargain with Liam and snatch the latter’s power.

“I think you’re overthinking. I don’t care who it is as long as we can go out!” Leia returned to the bed and held Flossie’s arm, urging her, ‘Let’s go! Once we’re out, we can talk about this. It’s meaningless to stay here.”

“Yeah, you’re right.” Flossie found Leia’s words logical and got up to walk toward the door.

A tall but unfamiliar guard was waiting for them outside the jail. He looked very unfriendly.

*I need to take you somewhere else before leaving. Behave yourselves. You must be handcuffed,’ he said fiercely, sizing them up.

Leia became defensive and glared at the guard. “What do you want?”

“You’ll know later.” He then instructed the armed guards beside him, “Handcuff them!”

The guards had weapons, and Flossie and Leia didn’t want to make things difficult for Liam. They didn’t resist when they were handcuffed.

“Why are we handcuffed again?” Leia looked at the handcuffs, exhausted. It seemed that throughout their trip to The Triangle, they were always handcuffed.

‘Let’s see what’s going on.” Flossie remained calm and didn’t say much. She followed the guard, curious about what would happen next.

Flossie and Leia walked out of the jail, escorted by two armed guards. Gradually, they were submerged into a deeper darkness.

They quietly left the fort while walking in the dark. An armored car waited at the door of the fort, looking like a giant lurking beast in the dark that would swallow Flossie and Leia any minute.

The guard stood behind them and urged fiercely, “Get in the car!”

Leia felt weak; she looked at Flossie and whispered, “Flossie, are we going to get in the car? Should we run away? If we leave the fort, we might get killed since we’re no longer under Liam’s protection.”

“Calm down.” Flossie lifted her chin at Leia, calm. “Let’s see who wants to meet us. I know what to do.”

Her curiosity was greater than her fear. She wanted to know who else dared to be this reckless other than Mateo.

“Okay, fine.” Although Leia was scared, she felt that they could be safe and sound since Flossie was around. She stopped overthinking and boldly got into the car.

After they got into the car, its engine started and it disappeared in the dark…

Meanwhile, Liam and Amber were still talking about Flossie and Halston, whose romance was full of twists and turns.

While talking, Liam kept pouring wine for himself. He began to get drunk.

‘Listen! Flossie and I were a great match back then. She trusted no one else but me. I also helped her go to Sun Island to give birth to the kids. If she hadn’t come back to Beach City… I might be Adie and Abby’s clad!”

His face was flushed as he spoke of his fate, regret lacing his tone. He had done so many things, yet his efforts still couldn’t be compared to an ungrateful scumbag.

“Liam, you’re drunk! Stop drinking!” Amber chided.

At first, she wanted to learn more about what happened between Flossie and Halston. Later on, she felt sorry for Liam since it also covered his heartbreaking past.

“They’ve been apart for four years. Four long years… But when they met again, they got back together. Why did she return to him?” Drunk, Liam exposed all of his dissatisfaction. “She’s a lovestruck fool. She kept going back to him! Well, she can’t blame anyone else for her misery.”

“Okay, stop. It’s her choice. Maybe you find it miserable, but she doesn’t.” Amber felt sorry for Liam, especially with how sad he was.

He claimed he had let go and forgotten about Flossie, but deep down, he still couldn’t forget her. He found it unacceptable that he had sacrificed so much, yet ended up as merely her friend.

“No, it’s misery. She simply grew to love him more as her pain grew. I can’t say anything about that.” Liam waved, feeling disappointed that Flossie had let him down.

“So, you still can’t forget about her, right?” Amber asked carefully, wanting to seek the obvious answer.

“No, I’ve forgotten about her.” Liam acted casual and straightforward. “When I confirmed that I could never be her lover, I let her go. I left Beach City and traveled the world. I stayed at somewhere else for half a year or a year. I experienced so many different kinds of things, and learned that romances aren’t that important in this vast world. *All the things I’ve experienced while traveling the world are fantastic. They’re far more interesting than that fucking Guajardo My Ellsworth. Their romance is nothing! I’ve got a lot of more touching and beautiful romances. When I’m free, I’ll write scripts and make movies. I’m sure my movies will be more amazing than theirs!”

Although he was drunk, he was still competitive.
