Chapter 866 – A Second Chance with My Billionaire Love

Liam didn’t fail Benjamin. He did a great job even with his limited power. In half a year, he took three territories, namely the East River, West River, and South River. The three territories came with an important location and were considered important to the Jenkins family because they yielded many profits.

The high profits were much better than the businesses under Mateo. Hence, Benjamin gradually came to value Liam more than Mateo. At the same time, it gave Mateo a difficult time in the fort since Liam had gradually snatched away his power and people.

Thus, Mateo had to employ some tricks to have the three territories from Liam.

“Let me manage the East River, West River, and South River before you attend my wedding with Gem. Then, I’ll try and let you leave with your sister and your woman. What do you think?” Mateo looked up, greed gleaming in his eyes. He finally exposed his true goal.

Liam sneered and said contemptuously, “Are you that greedy? Aren’t you afraid that you can’t take them all?”

He had spent a lot of effort to establish the three territories well, and nearly got killed twice in the process. They meant a lot to him, so he wouldn’t willingly give them up to others.

“You don’t want to?” Mateo raised his brows. He looked at Liam teasingly and contemptuously. “I thought you wouldn’t care so much about power and fame, so I didn’t expect you to be so reluctant to give them up. If that’s the case, stop acting so noble. You got close to Gem just to reinforce your power and status, didn’t you? We aren’t that different.”

“No, we’re different.” Liam sipped some wine. “I’m a human being with feelings, but you’re a robot with no heart. You’d do anything just to get what you wanted.”

“So?” Mateo asked darkly.

‘So, I won’t agree to your terms.” Liam snorted. “I want both Gem’s happiness, and Flossie and Leia’s freedom!”

Because of Liam’s declaration, he and Mateo failed to reach a consensus.

Mateo’s gaze grew colder and more sinister, and he glared fiercely at Liam. “Fine. There’s nothing to talk about between us.”

“No, you’re wrong.” Liam calmly swayed the wine glass. “You can get down on your knees and say sorry. Maybe I’ll let you off by then!”

“How dare you!” Mateo could no longer take it-he pushed all the cutleries on the table to the floor and pointed angrily at Liam. “You refused my kindness. I won’t go easy on you!”

*Just come at me. I’ll wait,” Liam shot back provocatively.

He knew Mateo well-the man was wicked and cautious, but also cowardly. Under these circumstances, he wouldn’t act recklessly. Hence, Liam wasn’t afraid to infuriate him.

Flossie was right. Mateo had done so many things to control Liam. As long as Liam remained calm, Mateo couldn’t do anything to Flossie and Leia.

“You think I won’t do that?” Mateo clenched his fists and snarled fiercely, “I’ll break one of their fingers! I’ll make you see that I’m not joking with you. I’m serious!”

‘I’m sure you can do that,” Liam snorted, “but you know their status and background. Plus, you know very well how Flossie and Joanne got away back then. If you aren’t afraid to involve more horrible people, go ahead and do it. Then, I won’t be your only enemy,”

“Are you threatening me?” Mateo narrowed his eyes.

He pondered what Liam had said and started to waver.

Mateo knew how Flossie and Joanne got away despite their stressful situation. It wasn’t because Amber had threatened to kill herself. Rather, a more powerful force from the Guajardo family in Beach City had pressured Benjamin.

The Guajardo family was the head of The Great Eight of Beach City. Also, the power of Guajardo Enterprise couldn’t be underestimated. Even Benjamin had to show Halston some respect. Mateo knew he couldn’t afford to offend Halston, especially given that he still lacked power.

If the Guajardos wanted to protect Flossie and the issue got bigger, Mateo wouldn’t gain anything.

“I can’t do anything to your favorite woman, but your sister’s different,” he finally said.

He couldn’t bring himself to admit defeat. Hence, he braced himself and tried threatening Liam instead.

“Yes, your family is powerful with a lot of properties. But at most, you’re just rich. You’re helpless when you go against people like me, who fight with weapons. If not, you wouldn’t be stuck here for such a long time. Your family didn’t even get anyone here to help you out. You seem excellent, but you’re actually powerless. I think it won’t be difficult for me to break one of your sister’s fingers.”

“Yes, you’re right.” Liam sighed and pretended to be in a dilemma. “My family has been businessmen for generations and is an old family with a long history. We do decent work and rarely get in touch with chaotic forces. It’s also an easy target. However, my sister’s boyfriend isn’t simple. He’s not someone you can target easily.”

“What? She’s got a man on her side, too?” Mateo frowned grumpily. “Who’s on her side? I never knew. Are you pulling my leg?”

“Xavier Stuart, the president of Universal Entertainment, the top entertainment company in Aeos, Liam said calmly. “Maybe you don’t know who he is, but I’m sure you’ve heard of the famous Stuart family, the greatest shareholder of the three large TV stations in Aeos.”

“The Stuart family?!” Mateo repeated.

Mateo swallowed.

“Yes, I’m aware of that. The Stuart family has been investing in a lot of entertainment properties in Southeast Aeos in the recent few years. They’re controlling more than half of the TV stations. Their power and influence are incomparable.”

*Looks like you keep up with the current events. Are you involved in the entertainment field too?” Liam asked.

He had easily gained the result he wanted with just a few words. He faked a smile and looked at Mateo, who was panicking.

Mateo glanced at him and said grumpily, “All that Master ever asks us to do is indecent. If we don’t have any people in the media, we’re doomed.”

The Triangle was never governed by the law, but public opinion was a dangerous weapon. If they went over the line and got reported by the media, international law would get involved. Naturally, it would affect their business. The Stuarts did decent business like the Osbornes and might appear easy to control. However, they couldn’t be offended casually-a casual report would ruin everyone at the fort.

Liam raised his brows and asked Mateo, “So… Do you still want my sister’s finger?”

“Humph! I didn’t expect all of you to have supporters on your sides. It’s hard to handle you guys.”

Mateo heaved a long sigh. Although he was angry, he couldn’t act recklessly. Hence, he tried to comfort himself.

“I can’t do anything to them, but it doesn’t mean I can’t torture them. At most, we’ll keep doing this. I’m fine with it because I don’t mind wasting time. But when Benjamin finds out, or when Macsen is back, they won’t be as unbothered as me.”

“Whatever. When they learn about it, I’ll handle it.” Liam spread his hands and gave up.

“How could you?!” Furious, Mateo instantly got up and gripped Liam’s collar. “Stop pushing your luck! Do you think I can’t do anything to you? At most, I’ll chop off your fingers! Let’s see who can protect you!”

Right as they were at daggers drawn, Amber appeared and immediately stopped Mateo.

‘Matt, what are you doing?! Why are you guys fighting again?” She hurriedly rushed over and pushed Mateo aside without hesitation. Then, she supported Liam nervously, frowning. “Liam, are you okay? Are you hurt? Should I get a doctor for you?”

“I don’t know!” Liam held his head, looking like he could not hold on. “Maybe he was too strong just now. I’m suffocated and dizzy. I can’t stand properly.”

“Is it that serious? Don’t scare me, Liam!” Amber’s eyes were red. Fearing something might happen to Liam, she almost cried.

*Stop pretending, Liam! I just grabbed your neck! You don’t have to act like this!” Mateo angrily pointed at Liam, eager to argue with him.

“That’s enough!” Amber turned and glared at Mateo coldly. “You have to stay away from Liam from now on.” Mateo was flabbergasted by her wrongful accusation.

Amber helped Liam to sit down before serving him water and rubbing his neck. She was full of anxiety.

Mateo angrily gulped down a glass of wine, but the wine was so strong that he began coughing vigorously. It suffocated him.

After helping Liam to settle down, Amber turned and glanced at Mateo, who was full of tears.

“Matt, why…are you crying? You strangled him, but you act like you’re wronged!”

“…” Mateo pointed at his throat and the glass; he needed some water.

Amber frowned and said solemnly, “You can’t do that. You’ve repeatedly attacked Liam. You were over the line! Don’t you know he thinks of you as his brother and values his friendship with you?”

Mateo was flabbergasted to hear it. He knew nothing about that-it seemed Liam was even better at acting than him.

While complaining about Mateo, Amber smoothed Liam’s chest to make the latter feel better.

‘Liam always lets you have your way, but you target him. If I came late today, you might strangle and kill him.” Mateo kept coughing. After a while, he could finally talk. However, his voice sounded harsh and low. “I just grabbed his collar! He isn’t that weak. Can’t you tell he’s pretending?”
