Chapter 859 – A Second Chance with My Billionaire Love

Sure, she could fight them, but this wasn’t her territory. She couldn’t make things worse. With that in mind, she tried to go easy on the guard and end the fight with a draw. Neither she nor the guard would suffer.

“Hey, what the hell are you guys doing? Stop bullying my friend! There are so many of you!” Leia shouted from the tree, sweating in worry.

She blamed herself for not being able to get down the tree. All she could do was scream at them.

*Just you wait! When I get down the tree, I’ll teach you a lesson!”

All was chaos, but a sudden gunshot silenced everyone.

The children and guards who surrounded Flossie stopped moving recklessly, and looked obediently at the people behind them.

A team of guards led by Mateo, one of Benjamin’s foster sons, arrived.

“What’s the fuss about? Did you forget about the rules set by the master? You guys are noisy and impudent!”

Mateo enjoyed a superior status in the fort, only second to Benjamin. Many were in awe of him and would even hold their breaths around him.

However, that pregnant lady wasn’t inferior either. Crying, she ran to Mateo and kept gesturing at Flossie. She must be complaining about Flossie.

Finally, she pulled the boy over and pointed at his bleeding forehead, sobbing and rambling nonstop.

“Okay, Luneth. Got it. Bring the boy to treat his wound. I won’t let you suffer for nothing.” Mateo nodded and patted Luneth Dingwell’s shoulders, his tone soft.

Luneth, the pregnant lady, left with the boy.

Flossie sighed in relief, thinking that everything was made clear.

‘Mateo, it’s just a misunderstanding. Please be forgiving if we were rude. My friend’s still up on the tree. Can you help her get down the tree?”

Mateo wore a poker face. He glanced at Leia, who was still clinging to the tree, and gave his subordinate a look. His subordinate understood, and quickly placed a ladder against the tree trunk.

“Thanks, I can finally get down. You’re pretty reasonable. I guess you guys aren’t savages after all!” Leia said as she got down.

The moment she reached the ground, she had yet to say anything to Flossie when Mateo immediately instructed, Get them!”

The next second, the guards raised their guns and aimed them at Flossie and Leia. Both were confused.

“How dare you harm Luneth’s child! Master won’t let you off the hook!” Mateo snarled icily, acting as if he didn’t know Flossie and Leia.

Anyway, he had no relation with them. He only had a grudge against them.

Flossie had assumed Mateo would have some respect for them, but she had underestimated human nature.

“What’s going on? Why did you tie us up?” Leia demanded.

Under such circumstances, Flossie and Leia couldn’t resist and were easily tied up.

‘It’s fine. I guess he wants to keep us as hostages. He won’t do anything to us,” Flossie said calmly, trying to pacify Leia.

Mateo waved, then shouted cruelly, “Take them away!”

Flossie and Leia were dragged out of the orchard, but they remained optimistic and whispered to each other.

“Flossie, are you saying he tied us up to subdue Liam?” Leia asked. She glanced at Mateo, who was walking ahead of them with a severe expression. She frowned-Mateo couldn’t hold a candle to Liam. He was overestimating himself.

“I guess,” Flossie said knowingly. “Benjamin regarded Liam as his heir before we came. As his proudest adopted son, Mateo’s status plummeted. I’m sure he’s full of resentment.

‘Now, he’s taking Liam’s place to marry Amber. So, his status rose again. But it doesn’t mean that people’s opinions will change too. He needs to do something to put Liam down and make Liam’s followers see things well. We’re very important to Liam, so we’re the perfect tools to hold Liam back!”

Flossie’s analysis enlightened Leia. “That makes sense. He got us fooled and made pawns out of us! That boy purposely led us to a trap so he could find a way to restrain us.”

“That’s right.” Flossie smiled helplessly. “We can’t escape. This is bound to happen sooner or later. I knew things wouldn’t be this smooth. Anyway, it’s hard for us to get out of here.”

It was ridiculous that they were restrained simply because Leia took a durian, but in truth, it was a trap laid by Mateo. They couldn’t escape at all, and they couldn’t be sure how ruthless Benjamin would be.

If he wanted to be vicious, Flossie, Leia, and Liam wouldn’t escape unscathed…

Mateo brought Leia and Flossie to a cell and locked them there.

*Just you wait! This isn’t over. I’ll get justice for Luneth, but I need to ask Master how you two should be punished, *he threatened.

However, he was slightly more polite before he left.

“You’ll be staying here for a while, but don’t worry. I won’t starve you. Just tell the guards if you need anything.”

Leia rolled her eyes. “Oh, so I need to thank you, don’t I?”

‘I’m sorry to have upset you.” Mateo didn’t say much. He nodded and left the cell.

That cell looked better than an ordinary cell-it came with a bed, table, chair, stool, and small bathroom. It resembled a small hotel room.

“What should we do, Flossie? Should we figure out how to run away?” Leia sounded anxious. She looked around and tried to find a shovel to dig a hole in the ground.

“I don’t know, either. Just wait. Treat this as a trip. Anyway, I’ll sleep first,’ Flossie said indifferently, looking calm. She lay sideways on the bed.

Leia walked to the bed and looked confusedly at Flossie, frowning. “Flossie, you’re so carefree. We’re locked up here and under their mercy. Aren’t you worried at all?”

“Don’t worry, Just accept it as it is,” Flossie replied. “It must be very hard on Liam now. Just wait. They’ll only let us go after reaching an agreement with him. If not, we can’t get out of this fort even if we’re released. It’s just a bigger or smaller cell. It’s the same.”

Flossie was well aware of the current situation. Mateo had captured her and Leia because he wanted to control Liam.

If they managed to escape the cell, it would be hard for them to leave the fort given the armed soldiers stationed every few feet. It would be best to do nothing and let nature take its course.

“Fine. We don’t have any other option.” A helpless sigh escaped Leia, and she knocked her head. ‘This is all my fault! Why did I insist on coming here for Liam’s wedding? None of this would have happened if we stayed away! I’ve burdened you. I’m so sorry, Flossie. I caused trouble again.”

“Silly! I told you it wasn’t your fault. They set up this trap. You would have fallen into it no matter what. Plus… It’s lucky we came. Only then did we learn about Liam’s situation. It would be more troublesome if he married Amber without thinking it through. We saved him, didn’t we?” Flossie tried to comfort Leia, smacking the latter’s shoulders.

“Yeah, you’re right. Liam would be doomed if we didn’t come. But… We’re all doomed since we came.” Leia felt desperate. She lay on the bed and leaned against Flossie. “I hope Liam can soldier it through.”

“Don’t worry, I’m sure he has a plan. He’s smart!”

Flossie closed her eyes, at peace. She was sure Liam would get out of this fort with them sooner or later, given his intelligence.

“Mm, I think so too. He’s smart. If not, he wouldn’t survive this savage place for such a long time….” Leia said, gradually feeling relieved.

She touched her belly.

‘Argh! I’m starving. I’m craving fried chicken. Where’s that durian? Since they accused us of stealing it, I’m sure they can let us have it.”

“I don’t know. Why don’t you ask the guards to get us some fried chicken and French fries? Didn’t Mateo say that we can ask the guards for food?” Flossie said.

Leia’s anxiety eased as she relaxed. She turned around and got out of bed, then gestured at the guard and ordered quite a lot of food.

Meanwhile, Liam accompanied Benjamin to West River in the morning for a negotiation that yielded a good result.
