She met Halston’s gaze and smiled tearfully.

“You’re here too.

So, you’re not that cruel after all.” Initially, she had been disappointed because she thought Halston had run off with Jessanna, but when she realized he had actually braved the hurricane and the flood in the cave to save their son, her feelings for him came rushing back.

However, this wasn’t the time to think about that.

“Give Adie to me.

We have to leave right now, or the cave might collapse!” Flossie stretched her hands out to take Adie from Halston.

She could tell that Halston was at his limit from holding Adie up the whole night with not much oxygen in the cave.

“It’s okay.

I can do it!” Although Halston felt like fainting, he insisted he was fine.

Instead of handing Adie to Flossie, he urged, “You’re right.

This cave is dangerous, so we should leave.” “Why are you being so stubborn? You can hold him later.

Let me carry him.” Flossie looked impatient, but she was actually worried that Halston might collapse.

She reached out again to take Adie from him, but Halston refused to let go because he didn’t want to tire Flossie. The captain almost collapsed while watching their childish antics.

“Ahem, Mr.

Guajardo, Ms.

Ellsworth…

Can you step aside if you don’t want to get out we need to get out because this little girl has almost stopped breathing.

We can’t waste any time.” “Oh, okay!” Flossie finally realized there wasm some one and awkwardly got out of the cave.

Then, Halston carried Adie out of the cave while the captain carried Tiffany behind him.

They collapsed on the grass in front of the cave the minute they exited the cave taking deep breaths as they stared up at the blue sky.

“Does anyone know CPR? She’s not breathing!” The captain hurriedly asked Halston and Flossie.

“Let me do it!” Flossie rushed over and did CPR on the little girl and after a while, Tiffany finally started breathing.

Tiffany opened her eyes and stared at Flossie, her eyelashes wet with tears.

She looked around and called pitifully, “Mommy!”

Flossie’s heart clenched the moment she heard those words. Tears rolled down her cheeks as she carried Tiffany in her arms, resting her hand on the little girl’s pale face. “Don’t be scared, you’re safe now.”

However, Tiffany shook her head and kept crying. She tried her best to raise her hand to point at the cave. “Save my mommy… please!” Her small body trembled and she was scared, but she still hoped that someone could save Madelyn.

Halston checked Adie’s breathing and realized he had fainted from exhaustion. He gently laid Adie on a boulder to rest, then turned to Tiffany and said, “You’re too kind. That woman wanted you to die with her, but you’re still begging to save her. You’re very silly!” He had seen Madelyn’s insanity the night before, and didn’t feel it was necessary to save her.

“Is there another person in there?” Flossie asked in shock. When she entered the cave just now, she hadn’t seen anyone else. She had assumed that Adie had gotten rid of the kidnapper, but surprisingly, she was still in the cave.

“The kidnapper’s still there. She wanted the kids to die with her, so we don’t have to pity her. Just leave her there,” Halston scoffed. He, Adie, Flossie, and the others could barely hold on, and they still needed to go down the hill to leave the island.

Flossie didn’t think about that-she just couldn’t bear to see someone die. If she had committed a crime, the law would decide her punishment, but Flossie couldn’t just sit by and watch her die without doing anything. “Where is she? I’ll go in and bring her out,” Flossie asked Halston.

“You’re going in?” Halston became agitated. “Do you know how complicated the terrain of the cave is? It might collapse at any moment. She’s a mad woman who tried to kill these kids, so why are you risking your life to save her?”

“It doesn’t matter-I’ll help her if I can!” Flossie glared at Halston coldly, shocked by his mercilessness. “I thought you were a kind person, but it seems I was mistaken. You’d rather see unworthy people die instead of helping them, right?”

“That’s different!” Halston was confused. Flossie had been so gentle when saving him earlier, and now she was insulting him. He just didn’t want her to get hurt, but she made it sound like he was a cruel person who put profit above everything else. “I don’t want you to take any risks because I know how valuable a life is. Do you know what Adie said to me when we were trapped in the cave?”

Halston looked away as he said emotionally, “He doesn’t want US to fight anymore…

He wants me to take care of you and protect you, and he wants our family of four to live happily ever after!” He had been given a second chance at life, and he wanted to treasure it.

He didn’t want them to take unnecessary risks.

“T know Adie-he would want me to go in there and rescue her.

Plus, if that woman really was crazy, Adie wouldn’t be alive right now, and the girl wouldn’t be asking me to save her.

I think there’s more to this story, and she’s not as wicked as you think she is.

We can talk about it after I save her!”” Flossie said, about to crawl into the cave.

“Why are you so stubborn?” Halston grabbed Flossie’s arm.

“Think of the kids! This girl doesn’t want to lose her mother, but do you think Adie would want to lose his? You should at least think of his feelings.” “Adie…” Flossie looked at Adie hesitantly, her heart clenching as she stared at the unconscious boy.

Halston was right-one careless move, and she could die in that cave.

Was saving a kidnapper worth risking her life for? “Mommy!” When Tiffany saw Flossie hesitate, she felt it was unfair to make Flossie go in given how dangerous it was.

She tried to crawl into the cave to wake the unconscious Madelyn up.

If she didn’t get Madelyn out of there, she would either suffocate or be buried under rubble.

“Wait! [‘ll go in and save your mommy!” Flossie felt sorry for Tiffany, and immediately made up her mind to go rescue the woman inside the cave.

Halston knew he couldn’t change Flossie’s mind, so he said seriously, “It’s okay, you take care of the kids…

I’ll get her.” “What?” Surprised, Flossie asked, “You’re…

going to save her?” “What other option is there? I don’t want you to take that risk.” “But you’re so weak now.

Can you really do it?” Flossie asked doubtfully as she stared at the exhausted man.

He would probably just make things worse.

“T’ve got to do it.” Halston took a deep breath and abruptly hugged Flossie

“Live well.

Don’t do anything to worry the kids and I.

I’ll be out of there soon.” “Why are you making it sound like we’re never m going to see each other again? Just otheDagain?

stay here, I go!” Flossie grabbed

Halston, refusing to let him go into the cave.
