“Stop crying, Tiffany, we won’t die.

My daddy is awesome-he’ll definitely come up with a way to rescue US.

Plus, my mommy says I’m a lucky star, so everyone will be safe as long as I’m here.” “Haha! It’s fate!” Madelyn watched the water rising on the ground and howled with laughter. “Even if I let you all go, God still wants you all to die.

Nobody can rescue you now.

It’s better this way, Tiffany.

I can’t be your mother in this life, but maybe you’ll be my daughter in our next lives! Are you looking forward to it?” Madelyn touched Tiffany’s head, smiling maniacally. “Don’t touch her, you crazy woman!” Adie had lost all hope in Madelyn.

He pushed her away and stood in front of Tiffany protectively.

You’re the most wicked stepmother in this world.

When we’re out, I’ll make sure Tiffany’s father divorces you so you can’t come near Tiffany again!” “You’re so protective of Tiffany, kid.

Do you like her that much?” Madelyn grinned at Adie, her eyes gleaming.

“Fine then, since I’m Tiffany’s mother, I’ll set an engagement between you and Tiffany.

When Tiffany is grown up, you can marry her.

What do you think? The only condition is…

You both have to be alive to do it!”

Halston knew he couldn’t say anything to the crazy woman so he just went to the cave entrance and started digging at the dirt there with his bare hands.

Unfortunately, the layer of dirt and rock blocking the entrance was so thick that it was impossible to move. If anyone tried to move it, the whole cave might collapse, and they would all get buried underneath it.

“Come here, Mr.

Guajardo.

Stop touching the dirt, or you might get buried under a landslide.

It’s too dangerous!” The captain had wanted to moveThe

The dirt away from the entrance of the cave too, but he didn’t dare to.

Halston paused, looking up at the crumbling ceiling of the cave in despair.

“Does that mean…

we have to die here?” Meanwhile,

Quinton, Leia, and the other were standing outside the ward and m watching the latest weather forecast, far away from the island.

They were very anxious, but couldn’t make a decision…

“The news said that this is a powerful hurricane-it’s almost a category three. Also, the center of the hurricane is only sixteen thousand feet from that island, so Adie’s in grave danger right now!” Leia clenched her fists in agitation, wanting to rush to the island to rescue Adie. “There’s no time to lose. Adie needs us!”

“I know that!” Quinton sighed in frustration. “I’ve sent Chase there to check things out. We can’t panic at a time like this… If Flossie finds out about this, she’ll want to go there, and we can’t afford that.”

“But we can’t keep hiding it from her!” Leia tried to calm herself down by rubbing her hands, but it didn’t work. “No, I can’t sit here and do nothing. I’ve got to save Adie. If anything happened to him, I wouldn’t be able to face Flossie.” Leia was a woman too, and although she didn’t have children, she knew how important a child was to their mother. If something happened to Adie, it would crush Flossie, and Leia didn’t want to see that happen.

“You’d only make things worse.” Justin leaned against the wall, looking unusually serious. “You’re weak, and you can’t carry anybody or run fast. You’ll only get yourself killed if you go there… It’s a waste of manpower.”

Leia scowled and stamped her feet in anger. “Hey, what’s your problem? Do you have something against me? I’m no weaker than you, and I’m not as lousy as you say I am. I don’t even know why you’re here actually… Maybe you’re the mastermind behind Adie’s kidnapping.”

“Me?” Justin pointed at himself in disbelief. “Are you out of your mind? Since we’re at a hospital, why don’t you get your brain checked?”

“Excuse me?” Leia was a hot-tempered person, and she rolled her sleeves up, wanting to beat Justin up. “I was just teasing, so why are you so mad? Did I guess it right? You’re guilty, aren’t you?”

“What’s there to feel guilty about? Don’t be ridiculous!” Justin scoffed angrily.

Quinton rubbed his temples and said icily, “Don’t you both have anything better to do? If your bickering wakes Flossie up, I’ll teach both of you a lesson!”

Both Leia and Justin immediately went silent. They didn’t dare provoke the legendary Night Demon.

“Forget it. I’ll go check on Flossie!” Leia glared at Justin, not wanting to be in the same room as Justin. However, the second she opened the door, her face turned pale. “Oh no…” Leia turned to Justin and Quinton in despair and shouted, “Flossie… She’s gone!”

Meanwhile, Flossie had unplugged the infusion tube and left from the window ages ago. She was making her way to the island where Adie was. She knew that the others wouldn’t let her leave the hospital in her current condition, but there was no way she could stay there and leave Adie alone during a hurricane. Both Adie and Abby meant more than her life to her, and she had to protect them no matter the cost.

However, Flossie was only human, and humans were weak in the face of natural disasters like this. The speedboat she had rented for an exorbitant price had almost been overturned by the strong winds several times, and her compass started to malfunction halfway through. She could only rely on her instincts moving forward. The downpour drenched her and soaked her bandages, tearing her recently healed wound. She almost fainted from the pain. ‘My son needs me… I have to hold on!’ Flossie told herself, biting her lip so hard to stay conscious it started bleeding. She looked up at the sky and yelled desperately, “Take me away if you must, but please don’t hurt my child!”

After soldiering through such a torturous journey from midnight, dawn came. The hurricane stopped, and the sky started getting brighter. Flossie finally saw the silhouette of the island in front of her, and teared up in excitement. Adie, wait for me. I’m almost there!”

She smoothly docked the speedboat at the island, then walked around the island until she found a cave. Its entrance had been blocked by a landslide. Maybe it was due to her bond with her son, but her instincts told her that Adie was trapped inside the cave. She started digging at the dirt at the entrance, which felt like solidified cement after being soaked in the rain for a night. As she kept digging, her fingernails broke and her fingers started bleeding, staining the dirt red.

‘Adie, are you in there? Talk to me if you are!” Flossie shouted as she dug, trying to motivate herself.

On the opposite side of the dirt, Adie, Halston, and the others had collapsed and were dying in the cave. After a night of downpour, the cave was almost filled with rainwater, and Halston and the captain had to hold the children up high to save them from being drowned. However, the oxygen in the cave was thin, and the two children were on the verge of fainting.

After holding Adie up the whole night, Halston felt like he was about to collapse. “Adie, wake up. You can’t sleep! Halston tried to keep Adie awake.

“Ugh!” Adie clung to Halston’s shoulders, looking dazed. “Daddy, I’m so sleepy. I’m going to sleep now. If you see Mommy, promise me you won’t fight with her, okay?”

Although Adie was just a child, he was not afraid of death. The only thing he was afraid of was his parents separating if he died. “You don’t know how hard it is for Mommy. She gave birth to Abby and I and raised us alone, and even though she encountered so many obstacles, she resolved them all on her own. She’s the greatest and kindest woman I’ve ever met.” Adie recalled the time he spent with Flossie and Abby on Sun Island wistfully, and felt sorry for Flossie. “Daddy, I can swear that you’re the man Mommy loves the most. Don’t be mad at her. Just forgive her, okay?”

“I was never mad at her, silly. I’m the one who made a mistake. I should be begging for her forgiveness instead…. because she’s the woman I love the most too!” Halston’s eyes glistened with unshed tears. Even though he and Flossie kept breaking up and getting back together with each other, he had never stopped loving her. He tried to distance himself from her because he didn’t want her to get hurt again, but he hadn’t expected that he would never see her again. If he had known, he would have told her that he’d always loved her. He didn’t want her to have any regrets. Unfortunately, fate was cruel… He never expected things to turn out like this.

“Daddy, you didn’t promise me. You can’t be mad at Mommy or fight with her. Once we get rescued, you both have to reconcile. I want our family of four to be together forever!” Adie’s breathing grew weaker, but he was determined to relay his greatest wish to Halston.

“…” Halston watched the water level getting higher, and nodded. He sobbed, “If there’s a next life, our family of four will be together forever!” Unfortunately, the cave had been sealed entirely after the hurricane, so there was no next life for them. Halston closed his eyes and thought, ‘I’m sorry for breaking my promise, Flossie. I couldn’t give you and the kids a good life. Suddenly, he felt a cool breeze against his face.

“What?” Halston abruptly opened his eyes and saw a vague ray of light from the entrance of the cave. The breeze might have come from that hole. He thought he was imagining things, but the hole started to grow bigger, and more light flooded into the cave.

“Mr. Guajardo, are we… in heaven?” The captain asked tearfully, his arms shaking from holding Tiffany up.

“I don’t think it’s heaven…” Halston murmured in awe. Staring at the entrance, he whispered to Adie, “Adie, wake up. An angel is here to save us!”

“An angel?” Dazed, Adie forced himself to open his eyes.

He saw light pouring in from the blocked entrance, and to his surprise, the person he had been longing for stood there.

“Mommy…

The angel is Mommy!” Adie’s eyes widened in delight, and he waved at Flossie excitedly.

At that moment, Flossie had dug through the entrance and was completely exhausted, but her energy seemed to come back when she saw Halston and Adie.

“Thank God you’re here, Adie!” Flossie cried out in relief, and crawled into the cave.
