“I’ve heard of the items you’re looking for. They’re rare treasures, and it’ll be difficult for you to find them alone.Let’s divide the tasks…”

Halston looked even more confused.

“You want to divide the tasks?”

Quinton explained patiently, “I’ve seen the Western Hills Fruit in the depths of the mountains. It’s real, and I know how to find it.I know about the Northern Lake Anaconda too. It’s the skin of the anaconda, and I can get it with just a bit of effort.Just leave those things to me.As for the dragon’s saliva…You just focus on getting that.”

Halston looked doubtful as he listened to Quinton’’s plan.

“Are you sure you can do it?”

He didn’t think that getting those two items was easy, and was worried that something might go wrong if he let Quinton handle it.

“You should ask yourself the same question.”

Quinton shot Halston a glare.

“I’ve been managing Carmine Pawnshop for so many years and have seen many rare treasures.

I’ve even risked my life to get them sometimes, so naturally, getting these things isn’t a challenge for me.

You, on the other hand, are a weak young man who nearly drowned finding a pearl.

Are you sure you can do it?”

“Of course!”

Halston said confidently.

“I can always get what I want.”

“Less talk, more action then.

Let’s have a competition to see who can get their items first.” “Sure!” Hence, the former enemies became allies because of Flossie, and rushed to their destinations to search for the remaining items.

Quinton hadn’t been overestimating himself—thanks to his experience managing Carmine Pawnshop for years, he quickly gained the Western Hills Fruit and Northern Lake Anaconda.

The process was undoubtedly dangerous, and Quinton had suffered a lot of injuries getting the items.

Similarly, Chase had also suffered a lot.

Once they got what they wanted, they went to a nearby hospital to treat their wounds and rushed back to Beach City as fast as they could.

Quinton had tried to get in touch with Halston, but there was no response from him.

He figured that Halston might be in a place without any signal.

He cut the call and took a deep breath to calm himself, then went to Ellsworth Manor.

He hesitated before he went in.

As Flossie’s brother, he had failed to uphold his responsibility as head of the family.

Not only did he fail to protect Flossie, but he had caused her so much trouble.

He felt ashamed to meet her, and stood outside the door for almost ten minutes.

“Mr.Ellsworth, why aren’t you going in?”

Chase asked Quinton carefully as they stood at the door of the manor.

“I’m too ashamed to go in,”

Quinton answered honestly.

“Really?”

Chase was shocked and touched that his solemn and aloof boss admitted his weakness to Chase.

Honestly, Chase felt that Quinton had changed—he acted more humanely and considerately.

He was no longer the radical and fierce man who was governed by hatred; he no longer behaved like an emotionless robot.

“I’m her brother—I should have protected her.

I should have overcome all obstacles and hardships for her, but after we reunited…”

Quinton covered his face, looking dispirited.

“I didn’t do any of that.I even made her suffer more! If I hadn’t been so obsessed with taking revenge on Halston, he would have been a powerful ally, and there wouldn’t be so many troubles now.”

He had been keeping all these things to himself.

He was a strong man who had spent a large part of his life on his hatred and taking revenge.

“Uncle! Mr.Cheever! You both are finally back!”

Adie and Abby were playing hopscotch in the yard, and lit up in excitement when they saw Quinton and

Chase.

They quickly ran over.

“Kids, it’s been so long. Are you doing okay? Are you listening to your mommy?”

Quinton asked gently as he hugged the two children.

Quinton was a serious person who wouldn’t even frown when he was in pain, but right now, he was speaking softly to the children like a kindergarten teacher.

It was more than Chase could bear.

“Uncle, you’re finally home.Mommy is seriously ill, and we don’t know what to do.I’m glad you’re back…”

Adie held Quinton’s hand and said worriedly.

He saw himself as the man of the house when Quinton left, and wanted to help Flossie and protect her and Abby.

Lately, he hadn’t been eating or sleeping well because he was stressed, but now that Quinton was back, Adie felt like a burden had been lifted off of him.

He knew that no one would dare to bully Flossie and Abby if Quinton was around.

“I’m sorry. It’s my fault—] came back too late.Where’s your mommy? Take me to her!” Quinton said remorsefully as he held the children’s hands.

“Mommy felt better after taking the painkiller given by Mr.Wagner, so she’s sunbathing on the balcony now…”
