Halston chose to believe Owen, and suggested, “We’ll know if it’s a match once she’s here for the test.”
“Yeah.” Owen nodded.
“Yes, you’re right.” Leia refused to let go of such an opportunity and said eagerly, “Let’s not waste time.
We should ask her to come in for the test.”
The three of them had reached an agreement, but Xavier had yet to say anything.
“This all sounds crazy. Shouldn’t we take more time to think it through?” Xavier frowned deeply, looking unusually solemn. Calmly, he added, “Plus, shouldn’t they be doing this voluntarily? Maybe she doesn’t want to do the test.”
Leia looked at Xavier in annoyance and scoffed, “Are you scared?”
“What would I be scared of?”
“You’re afraid that her eyes would suit Flossie best after the test. You won’t know what to do then, right?”
Leia’s eyes narrowed, knowing she had hit the nail on the head.
“No, it’s not that. Even if it’s a match, we still need her approval,” Xavier protested weakly.
“No, you’re the only one who can make Shirley give up her eyes willingly if she’s compatible… so it’s obvious you just don’t want to do it,” Leia said bluntly.
“Me?” Xavier looked at Leia and snorted. “I’m not that powerful. How can I decide what others do with their body parts? Even if I could, I wouldn’t do such a cruel thing.” “I’ll do it even if you don’t,” Halston said coldly from behind Xavier, his gaze steely. “If her eyes are a match, I don’t mind being the villain and taking them.” He was never an upright man, but at least he wasn’t wicked.
However, he was willing to do anything to help Flossie regain her eyesight.
“No, Halston!” Xavier was shocked. Agitated, Xavier said to Halston, “The whole point of this is to find a willing donor. If Shirley doesn’t want to give up her eyes, you can’t force her.” “Why not?” Halston’s eyes were wild. “I’ll give her whatever she wants to make her say yes. If she still refuses… then I’ll have to use force.” “You’re breaking the law! It’s illegal to sell organs. Do you have any idea what the consequences would be?” Xavier had always treated Halston with respect, but right now, he was on the verge of a fight. “Yes, Flossie needs the eyes, but Shirley needs them too as a celebrity and best actress! How could you sacrifice another woman’s happiness for the sake of your love?” “So, what?”
Halston asked stubbornly. “People are selfish. It’s just her bad luck that she bumped into me.” “You’re out of your mind! There are other ways…” Xavier was desperate now, and his hands trembled as he grabbed a stack of donor applications.” We’ve got so many willing applicants, and we can screen them in time. Meanwhile, Leia had used her connections to find Shirley’s location. Shirley had booked the top private room of a club and invited some of her loyal fans to a small gathering. Many celebrities held such meetings with their fans privately to ensure their fans’ loyalty and to get closer to their fans, and Shirley was the most active in holding such gatherings because she didn’t have a lot of fans. However, despite their small numbers, Shirley’s fans were very loyal to her. They tried their best to make her look good, spent a lot of money on her, and condemned her competitors online.
Many celebrities tried their best to not fall out with Shirley, because if her fans found out, they would go all out to slander and criticize them.
Although Leia was not a celebrity and had only joined a few episodes of a variety show, because of her relationship with Xavier, Shirley’s fans condemned her terribly. Leia didn’t even dare to go out these days because of them.
Currently, Leia was headed to Shirley’s fan meeting to talk to her alone. It was a rather bold move, but it was something she felt she needed to do.
Shirley had put her pure and innocent image aside in the private room, and raised her glass as she said to her fans, “Hi, my Shirloves! Thank you for your hard work recently. Let me toast to you and you can enjoy yourselves! ” After that, she downed one liter of beer, and her blinded fans admired her straightforward ness.
“Look! Shirley is like a great heroine. How bright!” “Yeah, she’s the only idol I’ve followed ever since her debut. I knew I admired the right person!” “Let’s finish our drinks and toast to her fame!”
The group of around ten fans raised their glasses and gulped down their drinks. Soon, the atmosphere became wild, and they all started to let loose. People started to sing and play games, and the private room soon became chaotic.
After a few drinks, Shirley started to get tipsy. She couldn’t be bothered to pretend, and said to her fans, “I’m glad you all came today; it makes me so happy. Look at me… People bullied me this year.
They snatched away my shows, advertisements, and roles. Even my man has been taken from me. If not for you guys, I would have long retired from this industry… Thank you so much. I think I’ll have another drink.”
Her statement saddened her fans, and they hated Shirley’s enemies even more. A female fan who was in her thirties became very agitated after hearing all this. “Shirley, I know what you’re going through. I divorced my husband this year. I’d spent more than ten years with him but my sister bewitched him in two months. He wanted nothing but to divorce me and marry her… I hate homewreckers like them the most! Scum like them should get beaten up!” She burped and cracked a sinister smile. “Do you know how I punished my sister when I caught my ex-husband cheating on me with her?” “What did you do?
Tell us!” The others became curious as they urged her.
“I followed them to a hotel. When I opened the door, they were naked in bed… So, I grabbed my sister by the hair and dragged her out onto the street!”
Shirley’s fans were amazed by the lady’s story.
“Homewreckers are immoral and shameless, so we don’t have to be polite to them. If I see her again,
I’m going to shave all her hair off!” The fan declared angrily.
It was a pitiful thing to be cheated on, and Shirley’s story gained her a lot of support from her fans.
“Yeah, Shirley is too gentle. If that woman didn’t meddle in her relationship, Shirley might be married to
Mr. Stuart now. She’d be more successful too! Leia wouldn’t even have anything…” The fans swiftly blamed Leia for Shirley’s misfortune.
“Yeah, Shirley was the one who was betrayed, but that homewrecker bullied her instead. I can’t take this. I won’t let her go if I have the chance!” One fan declared, and the others quickly agreed. They were one step away from going to Leia and teaching her a lesson.
Shirley smiled in satisfaction when she saw that. She turned to her assistant nearby and said smugly,
“See that? All my fans are waiting to see her. Let her in.” Her assistant had secretly told her that Leia wanted to meet her earlier, before they had started drinking. When she heard that, Shirley had purposely influenced her fans’ emotions and gotten them to drink and become rowdy. If anything happened to Leia now, it was completely her fans’ doing… and had nothing to do with her.
Meanwhile, Leia was waiting at the door of the club. The cold breeze made her uneasy. She had rushed out of Ellsworth Manor without taking a coat, and her fitted woollen sweater was making her freeze in the 30.2 Fahrenheit night. Back then, she would have happily barged in, but since she wanted to ask Shirley for a favor, she would have to be polite. Shirley might outright refuse if Leia was rude, so she decided to wait for Shirley patiently.
Just as she was about to barge in because she couldn’t take the cold, Shirley’s assistant walked out and said, “Hey, Ms. White would like to meet you.” “Really? She’s… willing to see me?” Leia’s eyes brightened, and she tried to warm her hands with her breath.
“That’s what I just said. Go in if you want/ the assistant said grumpily, then turned and left.
“Of course I want to see her!” This was what Leia had been waiting for.
Since Shirley had agreed to meet her, there was at least a twenty percent chance she’d agree. Leia repeatedly told herself to stay calm and polite so Shirley would agree. When she reached the door of the private room, she heard a lot of noise coming from inside. Leia frowned and asked, “Is there something illegal going on in there? Why is it so noisy?”
“Nonsense! Ms. White is having a fan meeting. You’re not a celebrity yourself, so of course you don’t know how much fans like their idols. They’re clearly all having a good time,” Shirley’s assistant said smugly. Although Shirley didn’t have many fans, her fans’ loyalty was top-notch. Besides, celebrities had to rely on their loyal fans’ support because popularity was not enough.
“I don’t know about the other fans, but I know how wild Shirley’s fans are. How could I not…” Leia looked up at the private room and figured there must be quite a lot of Shirley’s fans inside. As the so-
called wicked woman who had snatched away their idol’s man, she would be courting death if she barged in impulsively. Finally, she realized why Shirley had suddenly agreed to meet her even though they were enemies. Shirley was waiting for Leia to enter her trap. The smart thing to do would be to turn around and leave, but the situation was urgent. She had to take the risk and bite the bullet. After taking a deep breath, she walked into the private room with Shirley’s assistant.
“Keep quiet for a second, everyone! I need to introduce a special person to you,” Shirley’s assistant yelled at the group.
The fans were on a high from their drinking, and when they saw Leia behind Shirley’s assistant, they couldn’t believe their eyes.
“Ugh… Isn’t that the young lady of the Osborne family? She’s the lowlife who snatched away Shirley’s man, right?” “Yeah, it’s definitely her. How shameless!” “Great! Shirley smiled as she sat on the sofa, looking at Leia like she was a clown.” Ms. Osborne, I’m having a gathering with my fans, but here you are. Are you feeling guilty perhaps? Would you like to kneel and apologize to me in front of my fans?”
Her hint filled her fans with excitement, and they started to rebuke Leia fiercely.
“Shameless witch! Get down on your knees and say sorry to Shirley!” “Kneeling and saying sorry is nothing! I say we should strip her and shave her hair, then leave her at the crowded Circle Street and make everyone spit on her!”
The fans all had their different ideas of how to punish Leia, but all of them were wicked and vulgar.
