“Don’t worry, Quinton. Phoenix won’t get in any trouble under my watch.” Justin was unusually serious as he gazed at Flossie.
‘I heard from the doctor that you’ll be discharged from the hospital in a month, so just hold on until then. If you’re not comfortable staying in the hospital, I can apply for an early discharge for you and get a professional caretaker for you at home…” Quinton felt very sorry for Flossie as he saw her lying in bed, unable to move.
“It’s okay,” Flossie immediately refused him and said, “It’s comfortable staying in this VIP ward, and it’s pretty convenient. You don’t have to trouble yourself to get me an early discharge.”
“I know you think it’s troubling me, Flossie, but you don’t have to worry about it. It’s just an application for an early discharge. It’s no trouble at all… ’ Patting Flossie’s shoulders, Quinton continued solemnly, “Don’t worry, I’ll handle it. We can go home soon.”
“Umm…” Flossie just smiled awkwardly, unsure of how to explain it. It wasn’t because of troubling Quinton that she didn’t want to leave early… it was because she was used to Halston feeding her with good food every night. It was like a vow they’d secretly made, and she didn’t want to ruin it.
“To be on the safe side, I think it’s better to let her stay until the doctor says she can leave,” Justin suggested, actually wanting
Flossie to stay in the hospital so he could visit her whenever he wanted. If she went home, Quinton would be guarding her.
“Yeah, I think we’d better listen to the doctor. After all, she’s been staying here for two weeks already, and we shouldn’t move her around so much,” Leia agreed with Justin.
“It’s three against one, Quinton… Don’t worry about me. Just carry on with your work; this hospital takes very good care of me.” Smiling, Flossie reassured Quinton.
“Alright then, we’ll just listen to the doctor,” Quinton grumbled, reluctantly obeying their wishes.
Suddenly, Leia caught sight of the bright sunflowers on Flossie’s bedside table. She asked curiously, “Flossie, these flowers look like they were freshly picked from a garden. Who gave them to you?” She knew that the flowers weren’t from Quinton or Justin because they weren’t that romantic. They had never given Flossie flowers before.
“Umm…”
Melancholy washed over Flossie as she glanced at the flowers and sighed.
“I got them from an old friend.” “Who’s the person who knows your favorite flower? Do I know them?” Leia picked out a sunflower and sniffed it.
“Yes, you know him.” Downcast, Flossie nodded.
Justin narrowed his eyes at the bouquet and growled, “Do I know him?” “Maybe,” Flossie answered honestly.
“Oh…” Nodding, Justin relaxed.
“So it’s not Halston.
It doesn’t matter then.” “Why not?” Flossie looked puzzled.
“It’s because I have nothing to fear if it wasn’t from Halston, even if it’s flowers, gold, or cash,” Justin said confidently.
Flossie was speechless.
Justin seemed to be quite dumb even though he looked smart.
He would’ve gone mad if he knew that Halston brought food to Flossie every night and stayed in her ward for more than an hour.
“Regardless, I think he’s a kind man since his gift is just what Flossie likes,” Leia declared brightly, happy if the number of Flossie’s pursuers grew.
“Stop that.
What’s going on with you?” Flossie, however, was more worried about Leia’s relationship and asked hesitantly, “Did you get back with that person? Don’t let us affect your relationship…” “I…
I’m not in a relationship with him, so it’s fine.” Leia was happy to talk about Flossie’s relationships, but became nervous when it came to hers.
She stammered, “I’ve ended things with that person, and now I’ve got a new target that I’m going to start something with…
Just wait and see!” “Okay, I’ll wait for your good news.” Flossie stopped asking questions; she knew that Leia would tell her immediately if there was any progress.
If she didn’t, it meant that there was nothing substantial there yet.
After that, Leia walked out of Flossie’s ward, holding a sunflower and sniffing it happily.
She was so distracted that she walked straight into someone.
Surprised, she looked up to find the very person they had just been talking about — Xavier Stuart.
She wrapped her clothes tighter around her body and growled at him, “What are you doing here? Are you stalking me, you pervert? Didn’t I tell you that it was over between us?” Xavier looked at her and smiled gently.
“It’s been a while, my ex- girlfriend.” He had actually come to see Halston, but coincidentally bumped into Leia.
Although they had broken up with each other, they still felt something stir inside their hearts when they saw each other.
“Don’t say that, we’re not that close.” Disappointment overwhelmed Leia when she recalled the things that had happened in the mountains, and she immediately felt irritated with Xavier.
“How cruel! We slept together, didn’t we? Of course that makes us close,” Xavier said teasingly, finding Leia’s behaviour cute.
He slowly got closer to her and stared deeply into her eyes.
“I don’t mind reminding you if you forgot how close we were.” “How…
are you going to do that?” Shaken by his nearness, Leia subconsciously leaned backward.
“I remember that my ex likes it when I kiss her against the wall.
I don’t mind helping you remember if you’ve forgotten…” Xavier murmured seductively as he backed her into a corner, leaning over her.
“Tdiot!” Blushing, Leia tried to slap him but he grabbed her hand and pulled her into his arms, whispering softly into her ear, ” Aren’t we close?” “I…” Leia’s heartbeat quickened and she bit her lip, looking away.
“T don’t know.” “Don’t make assumptions then.
We’re close.” Xavier tapped her nose affectionately and let her go, smiling in satisfaction.
Speechless, Leia gasped and clenched her fists.
She was angry with Xavier, but she was angrier at herself for giving in.
He always knew how to break down her defenses, giving her no way to resist.
Maybe it was because of his confidence, but she always felt like she was at his mercy in this battle of love.
“What are you doing here? Don’t tell me you’re here to say such boring things to me.” After calming down, she put some distance between them and asked coldly.
“I came to see my friend, but I think it’s more important to talk to you since I’ve found you here.” After checking his watch, Xavier asked, “Are you free? Let’s have a drink in the cafe downstairs.” “No, I’m busy,” Leia said bluntly and wanted to leave, but Xavier grabbed her hand and pulled her to the elevator, saying, “No, you’re free, trust me.” “Hey! Xavier, what are you doing? Let go of me!” Furious, Leia tried to pull away, but was ultimately dragged into the elevator with him.
“Waiter, I would like one iced Americano and one Cappuccino,” Xavier called out to a waiter the instant they arrived at the cafe.
Although they had only dated briefly, he remembered all of Leia’s preferences.
Though he seemed carefree and uncommitted, that wasn’t the case at all.
“What is it you want to talk about? Hurry up, I have things to do.” After Leia sat down, she crossed her arms and urged him impatiently.
“What’s the rush? There’s nothing urgent we have to do. Isn’t it nice to relax, have some coffee, and get to know each other better?” Xavier crossed his legs, rested his chin on his hand and watched her, smirking lazily.
“Don’t you have anything better to do, Xavier?” Leia said through gritted teeth. Her patience was running out, and she wasn’t as shameless as the mean seated opposite her.
