Chapter 619 – A Second Chance with My Billionaire Love

When he made that statement, everyone was in an uproar. It was shocking to see a big shot of the entertainment circle admit to a relationship so openly.

Leia was confused. She didn’t expect that he would reveal this, and snarled at him angrily, “Xavier, are you out of your mind?”

Why did he announce their relationship to others at that moment? He even did it before her idol. He merely wanted to stop her from dating her idol. Damn it, how could he do such a cruel thing? She could not accept it at all!

“Did I say something wrong? We’re indeed a couple. If not, why would we sleep in the same bed in the same room the first day we got here? I think anyone with a brain would get the idea.” Xavier smirked, happy that Leia was so affected by him. At least she wasn’t fawning over Santiago, and was focusing on him.

“I…” Naturally, Leia was at a loss for words. She knew that people would scold her regardless of what she said.

Santiago quietly sipped his wine and raised his brows. “If being in the same room with another person means that you’re dating them, then wouldn’t you be dating Miss White, Mr. Stuart? See, I can’t tell whether your girlfriend is Miss White or Miss Osborne based on that condition. Or… are both of them your girlfriends? Are you having two lovers at the same time?”

Leia immediately figured out how to attack Xavier. “Yes, I did stay in the same room with you but there was only one room available at that time. We were left with no options because we didn’t want to sleep in the cowshed, but we didn’t do anything. You and Miss White stayed with each other for so many days, and you took such great care of her. You guys look more like a couple. Don’t pull me into this mess, I’m single and happy!”

When Xavier saw Leia work with Santiago to cut off her relationship with him, his pride crumbled. He stood up coldly. “Don’t forget what happened tonight. This is your choice.”

After that, he turned and left.

That day, Leia and Xavier both returned to Beach City, but they went back separately. Leia called a cab. Xavier drove and took Shirley home.

It was a bumpy ride just like their relationship, and they had their ups and downs. At last, they were separated. It was afternoon the next day when they arrived at Beach City. Leia rushed to the hospital where Quinton was without any delay.

Flossie was still waiting outside the surgical room, looking exhausted.

“Flossie, how’s everything?” When Leia walked out of the elevator, she saw Flossie leaning against the wall. Leia felt sorry for her friend.

Flossie was overjoyed when she saw Leia, and ran to her and hugged her as if she was her sister. “This is the last surgery. If it’s successful, Quinton will be out of danger and he’ll wake up.”

During this period, Quinton had undergone three surgeries by Owen, and all of them had gone smoothly. It all came down to the fourth surgery and its result.

“How high is the success rate?” Leia asked nervously.

“I think it should be fine. Doctor Wagner has exceptional medical skills, and I trust him.” While talking, Flossie glanced at the surgical room and took a deep breath. “Not just anyone can hire him. If this surgery is successful, I have to thank that person properly.”

“Umm… Is the person you’re talking about… that scumbag Halston?” Leia asked carefully.

Flossie smiled bitterly and answered, “Who else could it be?”

Leia frowned contemplatively, wondering if she should tell Flossie the truth. Halston was the most suspicious person in this accident because of his history with Quinton, Shirley’s statement, and connections. However, Leia didn’t have concrete evidence, so she couldn’t accuse Halston of it. Besides, it would only make matters worse by hinting at it; if both parties involved got into a fight again, they would all suffer great losses.

But… What if he did something bad again?

“Flossie, you know how shrewd Halston is. I think you’d better not trust him too much…” Leia said finally, hoping Flossie would pick up on the hint.

“Yeah, I know. There are too many obstacles between us. Quinton’s accident is enough for us to be enemies forever, so I don’t want to have anything to do with him. I just want to thank him for helping with this surgery.” Flossie glanced at the surgery room worriedly. Although she was exhausted, her mind was still alert.

There was no use thinking about the impossible or overstepping her boundaries. It was best to keep a distance from him; being able to see him was already enough for her.

“That’s not what I meant. I know you won’t get involved with him again. I just want to remind you to be on guard against him because he—”

“Alright, let’s not talk about him. The surgery will be over soon, so we need to be prepared,” Flossie interrupted Leia abruptly.

“Okay, I’ll stop.” Leia could not bear to continue when she noticed the sadness in Flossie’s eyes. Maybe Flossie knew what Leia meant, but she didn’t want to face it. For the sake of her friend’s sanity, Leia kept silent.

Soon the door of the surgery room opened, and Owen came out.

“Doctor Wagner, how was it? Was the surgery successful?”

Flossie hurried over to him, her eyes watery.

“Of course!” Owen took off his mask, a smug smile on his face. “I never fail. Even the god of death can’t defeat me.”

“Oh, that’s great…” Flossie heaved a sigh of relief, and her legs wobbled.

Leia immediately rushed over to support Flossie and asked Owen, “Was it really successful? When will Quinton wake up?

“He’ll wake up after the anesthesia subsides, which should be at around seven or eight o’clock tonight,” Owen checked his watch and said with all the confidence of a skilled neurosurgeon.

Leia narrowed her eyes at him. “Okay, but if he doesn’t wake up by then, it’s on you!”

Leia’s words were harsh, but she wasn’t trying to be rude. She just felt that this doctor was probably as bad as Halston since he was recommended by him.

“Lei, be nice to Dr. Wagner—he’s been operating on Quinton for days. If Quinton wakes up, Dr. Wagner will be my family’s great benefactor.” Flossie bowed to Owen. “I’m sorry, Dr. Wagner, my bestie can be hot-headed at times. She only says these things because she cares about me, so please don’t take it to heart.”

“It’s fine. We doctors are used to meeting difficult family members, so this is nothing.” Owen shrugged indifferently and said meaningfully, “You should be thanking Master Guajardo. I didn’t intend to take this job, but he was so insistent that I couldn’t say no. He even went fishing with me and defeated me, so I was forced to accept the job.”

Flossie averted her gaze. “I know you’re here because of him, so I’ll be sure to thank him properly.”

“That’s right…” Owen patted Flossie’s shoulders and comforted her, “Be happy and stop overthinking. Things are never as bad as you think they are, and everything will surely work out in the end.”

After that, he went to change out of his surgical gown. It was already four o’clock in the afternoon, and Quinton was supposed to wake up in four hours. Seeing how exhausted Flossie was, Leia suggested, “It’s still early. Why don’t we go grab a bite?”

“I’m not hungry. I just want to wait here until he wakes up; my mind won’t be at ease otherwise,” Flossie murmured as she stared at the door of the operating room.

Leia pursed her lips unhappily. “But you’ll exhaust yourself if you keep this up. You’ll function better after some rest.”

“I’m not tired, and I don’t need rest… You’re the one who needs rest after such a long journey,” Flossie said to Leia with a smile. “I’ll be waiting here. Go ahead and eat first.”

Leia finally decided to get takeout from a nearby restaurant, but she suddenly saw Justin walking over with lots of bags.

“Miss Osborne, you’re here,” Justin greeted Leia enthusiastically. “Good thing I bought a lot of food today. This should be enough for the three of us.”

“Mr. Baldwin, you’re so considerate. I was worried that Flossie would get hungry, so I was about to order takeout, but since you’ve already brought food, I’ll stay.” Leia was very impressed with Justin. She knew he had been taking good care of Flossie; her best friend would probably have collapsed from exhaustion otherwise, given how stubborn she was.

That was what Flossie needed, rather than a flashy and shallow man like Halston. Men like him would only tire people out.

“Phoenix, I heard the surgery went smoothly. You don’t have to worry now, so let’s go eat.” Justin walked up to Flossie and smiled at her warmly.

Flossie looked at him gratefully. “Yeah, I can finally rest easy. Thank you so much for everything you’ve done for me.” He was a rich, young heir but was forced to run around the city every day to buy her favorite foods and gifts to make her happy.

Halston had saved Quinton, but Justin had saved Flossie. Both of them were her family’s benefactors, and she was very touched by everything they had done. They went to the dining area of the hospital to eat, and it was at that time that a figure avoided the surveillance cameras and approached Quinton’s ward…

It was none other than Seraphina.

She had bribed the nurses working on the floor Quinton was on, and had found out that Flossie and the others had gone to the cafeteria to eat.

Once they had left, Seraphina had opened the door and entered Quinton’s ward.

Quinton was now lying in bed after the surgery.

He was wearing an oxygen mask and looked very weak.

Seraphina walked to Quinton’s bed.

She stared at him for a while, then put something beside his pillow and took off his oxygen mask.
